P.S. There's also a lot of other tools (that aren't "eye" tools) that are at or very close to $4 anyways which would make them FREE depending on what you want...

Oh and I have to comment on the Nivea... The lady in front of me today kinda tried to use both coupons for the nivea deal and the cashier told her she wouldn't do it because she's already getting a discount... Well I didn't say anything but she SHOULD have been able to use both but the cashier made her choose which coupon to use. Ergh. Hmmm... Same cashier that gave me trouble about the beauty tools.

I was going to say something but if she's not gonna stick up for herself...

Hey Collin...my Walgreens just (today) had the Yes To Carrots lip butter marked down to 99cents (in the cosmetics section) ... in case anyone has those $1.00 off ANY Yes To product coupons (I am not even sure how I got them, but I have had them a LONG time...and they don't expire until the end of this year) ... anyway ... if you have those coupons, it makes them FREE. (*I also don't know if this was just a local thing, or national... but they were in a bucket in on the cosmetic counter with a 99cent sign and they rang up 99cents at the register) Happy day and THANK YOU for the great Amazon toy deal!!

Brenda said...

What do you all do when the coupon item is $.99 and your coupon is for $1.00? I have had Wags turn me down so many times for coupons like this saying the coupon is more than the purchase price so they won't let me use it. Just wondered what others have said or done to get them pushed through. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

as with the toblerone deal, monthly coupons ring up as manufacturer and the register won't let you use that and one from the paper. It only works if the cashier will push it through, so YMMV.

I bought 3 Nivea lip care and one Nivea lotion.
I used the bogo coupon for the nivea lip care .99 each
I also used the coupon that states buy 3 niveas lip care procudts get the lotion free $7.49.
Paid 1.99 for all 4 things!

Off Topic (we need a message board on here somehow, huh? lol): Is anyone else having issues with their printed coupons NOT scanning in the stores? Mine scan about 50% of the time and I've had some cashiers tell me if they don't scan, I can't use them.
I even bought new ink cartridges! Anyone have any tips?

The Revlon coupon is NOT in the 11/15SS for Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA.

Couponing4myTacoma said...

Shelly,

It was regional. I buy 2 Detroit papers and a few local ones because the Detroit paper has soooo many more coupons...

Couponing4myTacoma said...

OH - Brenda,

Most coupon policies state the coupon can be adjusted down. Like at Target for instance. I'm pretty sure Wags says the same. Double check, have a coupon policy in hand and don't be afraid to speak up and make the cashiers follow corporate policies.

I may sound kinda mean here but I refuse to let a cashier tell me I can't get the best deal because on a whim they don't think I should be able to. If I am following the corporate policy, they do not get to override corporate policies. That is not up to them. Each company has lawyers and marketing people who decide these policies not the cashier. We're doing nothing wrong.

Okay, rant over.... LOL

I have to agree about the cashiers. The cosmetic lady at my Wags thinks it is her personal duty to catch coupon misuse. She follows me around the store asking if she can "help" and then always tells me to come to her counter to check out. I don't because if a coupon beeps she just refuses to use it! I always have to have a manager come over, so I just avoid her now. A few weeks ago I had to get her to get a razor out for me and I asked for 2 and she said she would only give me one because she wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to get one. I asked if that was a store policy or her own. She just got mad and gave me another one.
Then today when I was checking out at the front my Zooth Q beeped and she came over and asked the cashier what was wrong. He completely ignored her and walked off to get a manager. I got the impression the other employees don't like her either.

ANYWAY, that's my rant. All done. LOL!

I don't see that coupon (Revlon tool"in my December coupon book? What does the cover look like? Maybe there is 2 coupon books like last month? Thanks

I was just at Walgreens and the $3 Revlon coupon is for a specific pack of beauty tools in the front of the store for $9.99, but the $1 coupon is for the beauty tools. :(

Luckly, I wasn't going to get anything from the December booklet as they didn't even have them out!

I could of asked, but thought I'd just get them next week.

I never have any trouble with my Walgreens..they are awesome. But I have to slow down because I think I am over-doing the "deals". Ya, I saved $66.00 total according to my receipt, but I don't know. Sometimes I think I'm buying because of the deal and not thinking of the OOP.

I have decided to cut back to things like the makeup. We ladies can always use makeup lol. And maybe food items. OH and hair styling products. I really want to get down to $20 or less per visit for awlile.

Today was the first Sunday EARLY MORNING visit and I got pretty much everything I set out to get. I got the last Ecotrin lol maybe they didn't stock? It was at 8:30am and they open at 8:00am.

Would of liked some Revlon manufactrer coupons or the Nivea coupons..but someone must not like my region :O

She has recommended Hip2Save and a couple of other blogs for those who want to coupon the right way. Congrats Collin... You totally deserve it!!!!!!!

Has anyone had trouble using the Olay coupon Buy any Olay body wash and get a Olay Body Lotion Free? Well I tried twice and both Walgreens "beeped" and of course the cashier (& one Assistant Manager) said they couldn't push it through. Keep in mind I did in the first transation I did the Zooth Toothbrushed where the cashier with the Assistant Manger standing right beside pushed the coupons through because again it "beeped". Not sure why I couldn't use the Olay coupon as well. just wondering if anyone else was running into this problem?

it went through at my wags but the young kid thoguth he might get in trobule so asked someone and although this woman is nice and coupons herself she is not the manager and told the manager that its like using a buy 1 get 1 free on a buy 1 get 1 free. But it wasnt, they were still getting paid by the manufafturer and I was still buying something.I waslked out and said id come back tomorrow with a differenty coupon. Ill try another wags tomorrow.

Brenda said...

Tacoma - thanks! I will look up the Wags policy and print it out so I have it with me. :) I appreciate your help!

I tried to do the Revlon deal by buying the eye curler for $4.99. The $3 Wag coupon beeped so the cashier didn't push it through. The $1 Wag coupon was taped to the price tag on the shelf, so that is the only one that will work. Kinda sucks :(

Wow i have never spent that much oop during a visit! I can go twice in 1 day and do 4 or 5 transactions and have my oop be like $3 to $5 TOPS for all transactions combined! That's the point of the deals is to keep your oop low! I would be broke if i spent that much every time i made a visit to Wags! gotta roll those rr's to get the lowest oop possible! Good luck in the future! =)

thanks for the heads up on these deals. I went to Wags this evening and got all of my deasl "pushed through" by an assistant manager that was straigh out of high school and he and i both know that i was the one more versed in how to use coupons so he did not give me any trouble.

Hi PennyPincher,
Can you please explain more about rolling the RRs and keeping your cost lower at Walgreeens? I must be doing something wrong because I too spend $20 or so when I go. Another newbie here. thanks!

Heads up for all of you with extra RR's to burn. The christmas pencils are $1/8 with the in-ad coupon this week. Since all of the great deals this week use coupons, I added 8 pencils to my transaction and was able to use 8 RR's from last week. Keep in mind that you don't have to buy 8, buy as many as you need to use your RR's, at $.12 each it's better than the caramels! Also, they had some really cool toys in the Buy $20, get $5RR deal. All of the Buy 2 @ $6.99, get one free toys are included so 4 toys for $16 or 6 for $23. I found a lot of neat games and Disney sets, littlest pet shop too.

First of all you need to spend a little oop to get the RR's. But once you have done that you take those RR's and buy only products that produce more RR's. I only try to buy stuff if it will at least be equal to what I am putting out. On occassion there are not deals that this can be done with so I minimize my loss by buying something that comes close. For example say you have $8 in RR from a previous weeks deal. You then try to buy something this week that will cost no more than the $8 after Manuf. Q's and that produces at least (if not more than) $8 in RR's. That is how you roll them. Keep in mind that if you had Man. Q's on that product (or products) and you want to use a RR you need to have a filler for each RR you are trying to use. That is where the Xmas pencils and such come in handy as they are only 12 cents each. If you absolutely can not get $8 in RR back then try to minimize your loss by getting something that comes close like say $7 RR. You can also turn around and use the RR you just got (say for this scenario it was $8) and buy another product or products you wanted (not the same one that gave you that register reward) and use the $8RR on it. (say there were two products that cost $4 and $3 respectively after Manuf. Q's and would produce $9 in RR's you could add an item in for $1 and pay with the $8 RR and you would only pay tax and you would actually make money because you would be receiving back $9 in RR. That is how to roll them and how to make money using coupons and RR's and come out with very little oop.) HTH and makes sense. I never pay more than $.50 oop on any deal (before taxes) and it is rare that it would even be that high. Mostly it is $.10 and under!

I had a problem at my WAG's today. I was doing the glade deals, and the cosmetics cashier was so nice, let me do I think 5 transactions, all producing a $1 reward. I had a $5 reward from the dayquil at another WAGs earlier in the day. So anyways. i then did a transaction where I got the Gillet fusion razor, all the olay products (which beeped, but she pushed it through) and then 8 russel stover candies. I had a MFR coupon for the razor, a MFR coupon for the Olay lotion and then 7RR's. THe 7th RR would not ring up. She called the manager over and the calvary came. He gave me some lame excuse about the computer not letting them take them anymore. So I asked her to start over and of course use my $5 RR first. It worked and I got a $4 RR from the razor. I then bought some more dayquil, nyquil and two packs of nerds. I used MFR coupons on them and then my two RR's from before ($4 and $1). As I was checking out the "team leader" who had taken over the cosmetic counter called the cashier I was checking out with and had a conversation with her about me. I immediatley asked for the manager. As he was coming up, I asked for my RR that printed out from the Dayquil. She had it in her hand and told me I could not have it cause I had used a RR to buy it. OH I WAS LIVID. The manager came over and was like "go ahead and give it to her until they fix the computer" I got all their names and filed a complaint. I think they were just pissed that I walked out of there with free candles & refills and practically free lotion, etc. So beware!

Keep in mind too that if you have sales tax the RRs won't cover it. I sometimes get stuck. I'm getting better - this last weekend I had a couple of transactions with subtotals of .04. Our tax is 6% so I generally have to pay $2.00 - $3.00 for my transactions...

My favorite cashier told me Sunday that "when we get our new registers they will show the subtotal before tax".

None of the Walgreens by me will take the $3 coupon on the Revlon small products. They all say that the $3 coupon is only good on the $9.99 Revlon kit.

you know i just felt the need to say that its not like walgreens all of a sudden got difficult...i worked at walgreens years ago and it was horriable TO WORK AT not just shop at..WALGREENS VERY OWN coupons NEVER worked..ALWAYS beeped, and their sales rarely rung up right, you basically had to memorize the flyer each week as a cashier so you could make your own job easier b/c of all the wrong price/walgreen coupon issues.

in defense of walgreens employees tho, when i worked at wags..coupon ladies were terriable to deal with, its because of my experiance as a cashier that i try very hard to make sure im plesant, and most of all prepared, and restrain from bein greedy w/ frustrating multiple transactions

i have a friend who currently works at target and the most frustrating customer to her (and her fellow cashiers) are couponers...they pretty much share stories on breaks and genrally are getting to be very bitter about the whole coupon things going on lately. her perspective is that couponing is great and is amazed at some of the deals herself but the frustration is in the greedyness of the over zealous ones that get super nasty, the very greedy and the unorganized..she also commented that its not exclusive to the actual couponer, its like a virus b/c the people in line after the frustrating transaction complain and act nasty when its their turn as well

Mary said...

I understand about the pleasentness and being polite, and organized. I never hold up a line, always smile, and only do multiple transactions if the cashier says its ok. Yesterday was just rude. But oh well, on to another Wag's later. And I went to target yesterday, had I think 5 coupons, and the cashier barely even spoke to me (even though I asked her how her thanksgiving was) and was reading my coupons OVER and OVER. They all scanned fine. It's like I am doing something wrong cause I am saving money. Like Collin says, I love getting guy cashiers!!!!! In the end, as long as I get the deal, I am fine.

Oh, and i couldnt get the revlon tool either.

MILSISA said...

My Walgreens would not let me do the Revlon deal either. Also, my Nivea lip Care were $2.99 each. Any suggestions

Kathryn said...

Don't abuse coupons please.
In the December booklet the Revlon $3.00 coupon Revlon Beauty Tool looks like it's for any one, but pictures only the new sets for 9.99. If you turn back a page, it shows another coupon for $1.00 off Revlon Implements & pictures the regular stock. I know it's badly worded & both should have been pictured on same page, but I'm not going over this line.
Hmm.... just thought of something....Implements are for the metal tools usually i would think, and tools for the brushes maybe. I'm going to check and see if they have single brushes & how much they are running.

I made my asst mgr look for the Nivea Lip Care since there was no size specified and there was no sign in the 'normal' lip area next to the pharmacy. He found them across from the beauty counter w/ the lotions??? They were actually better ones, in my opinion, since I'm using them for stocking stuffers. Different flavors or no flavor, whatever you wanted. I only have one 'stuffy' asst mgr at my store. He watches me like a hawk and thinks I'm stealing out of his pocket. Everyone else loves me and my kids. They go out of their way to help us and they hang-out at the beauty counter when we check out. We have a blast! Also- I buy a WAGS gift card and pay for it w/ my RR's so I don't have to play 'monopoly' and worry about losing a RR cuz' my kids are fussing at me. I just make sure I have enough filler items and use things that I was paying for anyway. It works great and I haven't lost any RR's from making dumb mistakes.

Brittan said...

A young manager pushed through the revlon coupon since we couldn't find the ones pictures on the $3 coupon anywhere. Otherwise, it was beeping for me too.

Anonymous said...

This isn't using coupons right...6 Nivea lip and 2 lotion, right? 3 B1G1F would attach to 3 of the lip care. Then the coupon to get free lotion requires 3 lip care, so you could only get one lotion because there are only 3 lip care without a coupon attached to them.

Cristina said...

I did the Nivea deal at my Wags, I have only been there two or three times now with a stack of coupons but so far everyone has been very good, I end up going in late on Saturday so sometimes things are sold out. I got the ORal B floss/picks, was supposed to be 2/$5 and get $3RR, however they only had one bag left, so I got the sale price of $2.50 and the manager still printed out the $3RR for me. So I made .50 on that one! Very cool. On the other hand, the Nivea deal I didn't realize until I left I paid $3.49 per lip balm. Still a good deal over all, 3 free out of 6 plus the 2 lotions. I can use as stocking stuffers. I couldn't find any .99 Nivea at the store. Cashier pushed all the coupons through except the $3/revlon, but I had a $1 from the Dec book and also a $1 Revlon man Q and she took both of them :)
