Money-Saving Tips from Woman's Day!

The new August 1st issue of Woman's Day Magazine has some great Money-Saving ideas.

Heres a list of the ones we found most helpful in the Frugal Housekeeper article-
  1. Avoid expensive fabric softener sheets. Instead, lightly dampen an old sock with diluted liquid fabric softener, squeeze it out and toss it in the dryer with each load!
  2. Use less detergent in the dishwasher. Too much can actually damage dishes. Try only a couple tablespoons per load and see what the dishes look like afterward.
  3. Make your own room deoderizers. Put a few drops of an essential oil such as peppermint, lavender or eucalyptus on several cotton balls and place in a decorative jar with a lid. Remove the lid when you want to deoderize the room.
  4. Remove hard water stains in your bathroom with toothpaste. Dab some on an old toothbrush and scrub away. Were exited to see if this actually works!
  5. Be creative about using items in different ways. Some ideas-Mesh bags from onions and oranges can be used to wrap around kitchen sponges to make a great scrubber! Heavy duty plastic comforter bags can be used to store out of season clothing and linens.

I really liked this article in their magazine. I found your blog (great site name!) while googling for the article.
