"Follow Me Monday" Rite Aid Shopping!

It's Monday and that means my sixth edition of "Follow Me Monday"! Today I'm going to discuss Rite Aid shopping! I hope this video helps put some of your confusion to rest regarding Rite Aid and their Single Check Rebate program.

On a side note, I apologize for my voice sounding a little hoarse and low. I'm glad, though, that I decided to film on Sunday because this morning I woke up with laryngitis and can barely speak... my hubby of course doesn't mind it so much!

**If you can't see the video, then go here to watch it.

Please be careful-my best friend was a little sick all last week. She had a little cough and sounded like she had laryngitis. She went to the doctor over the weekend and as the swine flu! I watch her kids so I'm freaking out a little!

I love your Follow Me Monday videos! Can't wait to watch this one after my little ones wake up from nap!

How many single check rebates can you apply for. I THINK I understood that it was one per month? Is that correct?

Swine flu is not a big deal - 4 of the 5 of us had it and had a little fever/little cough, then were better.

Thanks for the vid!

I always give the $5 off first. Yesterday I handed them all over since they know me so well and they did the $5 off first without me prompting.

Anon 11:37:00
Some SCR are one per person for the month but occasionally you can do more. Some are spend $20 and get a gift card. The huggies is buy 5 and get a voucher for a 6th free. The book doesn't always have the dates so check online first.

No rite aids here either, but of course I watched. I look forward to these each Monday! Thanks!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you are sick, Collin! I hope you get well soon and are able to rest! Thanks for all your great info on Rite Aid! I haven't done as much with them as I have with Walgreens, but I did get my first rebate a couple weeks ago and now I can use that to get some deals without a lot out of pocket! :) Thanks so much for all your time and hard work! Your site is my absolute favorite! I saw your red purse at Target and I got so excited~~almost like I had actually seen YOU! :) You have taught me so much~~~THANK YOU!! Feel better! :)

No Rite Aid by me either, but Collin, you are so cute, I had to watch any way! I love watching the Follow Me Monday videos. You are so creative! Lori

Amazing! You don't look or sound sick...I should look like you when I get sick...that you don't want to see. Try some tea and honey. Get some rest and feel better soon...and don't worry about us!

I LOVE Rite aid deals. I find it to be so much more rewarding than CVS or Walgreens b/c they give you CASH back!! Thanks for your work... it is very helpful.
Btw, my riteaids can be a pain about letting me do 2 transactions, so I drag my hubby with me. I fill his basket as well as mine, and we check out separately... so obvious we are together, but whatever makes them happy.:)

I to have kinda stayed away from Rite Aid due to always being short on money I never wanted to wait for the check to come in the mail. Well I'm still short on money since I have been out of work now for 7 months but it sure comes in handy when a rebate check comes in the mail for a few dollars.

I look forward to your Follow Me Monday videos. You have helped me very much. I hope you feel better soon.

rlh, I totally agree with you when you say we get CASH BACK. That's why I like shopping at rite aid rather than Walgreens or CVS where we have to keep the deal rolling or else we pay OOP everytime.

Man I'm slow! LOL I understand the rebate online thing, but still not too sure about the "how many per month" thing.

If I shop at Rite Aid 4 times a month (each Sunday) and get a receipt with say 3 items that offer a rebate each time I had visited..I can submit all 4 receipts right? If I had 12 different rebate items.

I'm so sorry I'm so slow lol...I have not shopped at Rite Aid yet. And was just confused about the rebate monthly allowed. If someone can list an example for me that would be great.

Also, if you have a hand full of store Q's, and manufacturer Q's, and your $5/$25, or $4/$20..which is handed over first? Does it matter like Walgreens? BEEP! lol

A friend of mine said she uses the WG register rewards at the grocery store b/c they say manufacters coupon on them..anybody else able to do this?
Do you have to have a card to scan at rite aid to get deals?

Anon:

Like in Collin's video the Vaseline is the rebate for the week for $4. You can only submit one receipt per account for a $4 credit.

If you buy 4 in a month you only get one SCR for $4.

SCR#41 is limit 2 $10 rebates when purchased 10/23/09 to 11/28/09
Lexar:
• 8GB SDHC Card, 1 ct.

The coupon policy states that the video value coupon for $5 off $20 is to be scanned first. I hand the coupons.com $5/$25 first also. Sometimes I don't show them I have any other coupons so they can't argue.

My 2 year old daughter loves to watch your video. She may be the next Collin. LOL

Wichita Kansas doesn't have Rite Aids only Walgreens, but I always watch your videos regardless, you do such a great job! Feel Better Soon....

Part of what I love about this site (beyond the fantastic deals) is that you actually *pay money* for some items rather than going for as many freebies as possible. So many other coupon bloggers seem so greedy--always going for excessive amounts of "freebie" items with wads of coupons purchased from ebay (grrr), leaving nothing for the rest of us. Then they have the nerve to brag about it ("look at me! I was paid $5 to buy 30 boxes of cereal!"). You shop like most people do--just with coupons. Love it!

The Rite Aid Single Check Rebate is monthly (they have a rebate directory at the front of the store). The October 2009 Directory ran from 9/27-10/24, so for all the purchases you made within that time frame, you will enter your receipts on line. They allow about a month after the end of the period to enter your receipts, and request your check. You need to remember, you don't want to request your check until you have entered all your receipts for that month...once you request your check, you can't qualify for anymore rebates for that month. As I purchase rebate items, I circle them in the rebate directory, and write the total amount of the rebates I am to receive on a piece of paper and clip it to the directory with my receipts. You can enter your receipts as you get them or all at once (it's up to you). If you do your rebate on line, you will receive your check in about 2 weeks. Like Michele said you are limit to 1 rebate per item, unless it's states otherwise in the directory...some will have limit 2...you just have to read each rebate. Also, some items will state that they have to be purchased with a certain week or you will not qualify for that rebate...not true...as long as you get a rain check, and as long as the cashier rings it up as a rain check item, you can either send that receipt to them or fax it to them. The fax # is 800-457-2243 Special Services. I do this all the time with rain check items. If you choose to mail it to them, you can call the # in the directory for the exact address. When you get your check, you can either cash it at your bank or use it at Rite Aid to have less out of pocket on your next purchase.
And as was said before, you want to hand over your $5.00 Rite Aid coupon first. HTH!

Anonymous said...

I totally agree with Erin! It is so refreshing to see you go about his the HONEST way, like hopefully most of us do. Some people are so money hungry for the free deals they break all the rules & don't purchase the correct sizes or try to use the incorrect coupons knowingly. Totally appreciate your integrity!

God Bless

Just started shopping at Rite Aid since finding this site, and I'm so glad I did! I got $33 of stuff yesterday for $.74 and I have $14 in rebates coming my way! All because of your site! THANK YOU!!!
And I learned something today from your video - didn't know I could stack the video coupons with other coupons. My store told me that they are man. coupons, and I did use one at CVS once...

Maria said...

Thanks so much for the videos! I learn a lot from them each week. I just moved to an area with Rite Aid, so this was perfect timing for me.

I noticed that you combined a video values coupon with a manufacture's coupon when you bought the Huggies. Can those be used together? My Video Values coupons say "Manufacture's Coupon," so I wasn't sure if they could be stacked?

Thanks!

Hi Hip2Save!
My name is Rachel and I run the site, Cloud9couponing.blogspot.com. I hold beginner couponing classes in my area through the community learning program and my intermediate class is coming up next week. I am teaching about Rite Aid's SCR among other things and I really loved your video this week. It really got the point across. I was wondering if you would be willing to email it to me so I could have it on my computer and share it with my class. I don't have internet access in the classroom I teach from so I would need it to be on my computer.

I refer people to your site all the time and of course have a link on my own site.

If you are not able to do this I will figure out something else but I thought it would be a nice addition to my curriculum.

Thanks so much,
Rachel

I don't have a Rite Aid near me, but I had to watch the video anyways. You are so cute and fun to watch. I have learned so much from reading your blog and watching your videos. Thank you so much for all you do. I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well and I hope you get well soon.

Thanks for the video! I just recently discovered the great deals I can get at Rite Aid, and this got me even more excited about it. :)

Quick question - where on your website is the Rite Aid corporate coupon policy? Actually, I think I did find it in one of your blog posts, but I was wondering if you had a link to the actual Rite Aid version.

Thanks again!

Going to make a trip this week..

Made my trip to Rite Aid this morning - I guess I did ok...spent $11 OOP & have $6 in rebates to submit for. Those $5 off $20 coupons for watching the videos really come in handy. OH, and I'm not sure if it was mentioned for anon. that for the Rite Aid Single Check Rebates, you can only 'request' your check one time for the rebate period (hence the name). I almost made the mistake of requesting my check before I had finished submitting my receipts for the month...that would have been a bummer!

Free is free said...

Bummed there are no rite aids in my area. Looked like some good deals. These clips are always a highlight of my Monday after work. Can't wait for next week!

I just got back from Riteaid, OOP 10.64 with $10 coming back in rebates. I got the Huggies diapers, two 2 packs of light bulbs, Apricot face scrub, Kotex tampons, 2 king size M&Ms (filler item-yum). Would have got more but my store is always out of stuff- too many couponers. My husband couldn't believe it only cost me $0.64. Thanks so much for all your hard work.

I smiled as soon as the video started because you didn't have your coffee. That probably would have helped your sore throat! LOL I do hope you feel better.

Fran,
Thanks for the tip on rainchecks. It had crossed my mind to use a raincheck on rebate items, but I never even asked a cashier because they aren't always super-informed on the rebate programs, etc. I will have to give it a try; those 1 week rebates can be tricky sometimes!! Also a good idea to circle items in the rebate directory. I keep saying I need to keep a list because I have my submitted receipts but they are always at home...when everyone has sales/rebates on the same items it can get confusing!!!

My mom doesn't use the rebate program, so she lets me submit rebates, etc. under my husband's name and get them sent to her home....in exchange for a few freebies from time to time!!! =) I don't ask everyone I know to use their address or anything, but it's great to get doubles on things-- just get sep. receipts!

Anonymous said...

When you submit for your rebate check once a month does it have to be the dates that the ad ended for the month? For example, October's rebates ran from 9/27-10/24, does that mean if I requested my rebate check today I would not be eligible for rebates for all of November? Or do I have until the end of October to submit? Thanks for your help : )

Anonymous said...

Very awesome, you rock!!

Anonymous said...

So, I was asking my husband some questions as to see if he thought the rebate thing was worth it. I know it is..but I second guess myself. We are on a budget, so I'm trying to decide if paying X amount oop is worth it even though I will get those rebate dollars back.

Anyone else on a tight budget find it works just fine? My husband just kept saying "LOL I don't know honey do what you want." like he's any help lol.

Also..I live about 30-40 minutes away from Target, RiteAid, Walgreens, and Walmart (bummer no CVS). How does everyone else shop to try and get the good deals when they come when you live so far away from them? I could get up early on Sunday, grab my newspaper, and head out to catch all the deals. But what about he rest of the week Monday thru Saturday?

When does one know if its worth the time and gas for anything else great that comes up through the week. I just feel guilty because it seems like I'm off in my car too much because I see another deal lol. So when does everyone shop? Are you on a total set day no matter what? Sunday's and Thursday's? Sunday and Wednesday's?

Sorry this is such a dorky question, I guess it wouldn't be such a bother if I lived in the same town as all these stores, but I don't. Show me your schedules! lol

That was great, but even greater that I can actually HEAR the whole video now, YIPPEE! haha, Finally the sound is coming through. :)
I have not been in to Rite Aid yet since discovering all of the ways to benefit from their promos, sales, coupons and etcetera so I am really excited to go in once I plan my deal scenario(s). There are I know two Rite Aids within short distance of my house, plus CVS sits adjacent to Wal-greens as well. I couldn't live in a better location as for those stores! It has been a bit of a slow-go for me but I plan on putting lots of my coupons to use within the next day or so...I have yet to do any of the rebate deals but they sound wonderful~ Oh, wait-I did do the Office Max one and haven't received it yet, but am waiting for it in the mail via a pre-paid Visa. Hey, that spends too. :) Thanks Collin for this video and you can always pop one of those free Halls cough drops into your mouth so maybe it will help w/you! :) Take Care! And Happy Shopping!

Anon: 11:50;
I have not settled into a routine yet for my store stopping and shopping.. :) But I will say that as the weeks click by I have started to go to Target on Wed. nights and though a little busy w/University students, it is working out okay. Usually during the day would be a lot quieter, less busy, but I try to make my trips count and go by this store or that one while I am already out, or have it kinda planned out to fit into where I am at the time. Does that help? If the deals were good enough I would do like you said, load up and hit all stores once you get to them and get the deals all at once that are going on at the time. Maybe if you have a closeby friend, neighbor or family member you guys could sort of carpool the deal and one drive one time and the other one drive another time, OR combine a trip and she can get some or all of the stuff you may want and need or vice versa. You follow? I think it is worth it and I would drive probably 40 miles to do this but probably only once a month; just depends. Their always seems to be another sale, so you will hit or miss one here or there and if you miss one, another will come along. :) Hope this helps.

I LOVE the Follow me Monday's. Thank you so much for the info on Rite Aid, I was having a hard time figuring out how to get the great deals. I really appreciate all of the time you put into helping all of us out here trying to get great deals.

Thanks,

P.S. Great job on the video this week.

To Anon 11:50: One thing you could do with the rebates is "roll" your rebate money, so that you don't spend anything out of pocket after the initial investment. That's what I've been doing for about a year. Of course, this month was such a good rebate month that I already spent my "drugstore money" and had to reinvest some "household" cash, which I will replace when my check arrives. However, you could treat rebate money as a budget and only spend that much out of pocket each month.

Start with the really good weeks where you can get items free with SCR and use high value coupons and Rite Aid $X/$XX coupons to keep your out of pocket low.

If you have a prescription elsewhere, a good way to earn some start-up cash is transfer it to Rite Aid and you'll get a $25 gift card.

Anonymous said...

Colin,
These get better every week. The audio was way better this time, at least on my computer, anyway. I love Rite Aid and have been doing their SCR for several years now. They do seem to run out of some of the more popular items and it takes forever to get them in! I still shop there alot, the employees there are very friendly.

Anonymous said...

i got two bags of m and m candy $.88
two g e light bulb two pack sale $ 1
vaseline lotion $4.99
kotex $2.99
crest toothpaste sign said $5 at the register it rang up $3.99
scope outlast mouthwash $4.69

mouthwash was free when you bought the toothpaste.

total 15.73 -$3(rite aid c)-$3.50 (man. coupon)=$9.56
subtract the rebates $8
total paid $1.56 and i used the riteaid gift card for transfering a rx, i transfered two ( with the gc i really made $48.44)

Anonymous said...

First - I LOVE Follow me Monday!!! :) Thank you!

I have a question about the SRC and the rebate period. For example, I could submit for mine now, but it's giving me the warning that I can only submit one request.

So... does that mean that when you click on the November 2009 link to show you all the rebates, it's all of those? Like, if there are more rebates that I want to do under that link, then I should hold off?

I'm confused about that so I haven't submitted yet, I still want to do the Luvs rebate, Tampax, Crest, Oral B, and Orajel. Thank you!!

Jen said...

I'll have to go back to Rite Aid now that they take printable coupons! Even up until this July, all the local Rite Aids refused my printables and really left a bad taste in my mouth. It's good to know I can expand my drug store couponing outside of just CVS now!

Dana said...

does Rite Aid know that you are taping in there store,

Dana said...

please tell people not to be hard on a cashier if they do not know the coupon policy, this is not communicated down from the head office to the stores as fast as it is on the internet. and this is changed all the time

You need think about it. Despite the emails, the overwhelming evidence showing global warming is happening hasn't changed.
"The e-mails do nothing to undermine the very strong scientific consensus . . . that tells us the Earth is warming, that warming is largely a result of human activity," Jane Lubchenco, who heads the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told a House committee. She said that the e-mails don't cover data from NOAA and NASA, whose independent climate records show dramatic warming.
