My kiddos and I are gearing up for a fun affordable Halloween this year and wanted to share some of our money saving ideas.
- If your like me and want to be able to give treats to all the students in your child's class then this idea is for you! Buy a bag of Tootsie roll pops or Blow pops (with a coupon of course) and drape a white Kleenex over it, tie it with some orange or black yarn, dot 2 eyes with a magic marker and you've got a mini ghost!
- Homemade Halloween goodies are a must in our home. One of our staples is Rice Crispy treats. To make them festive we add orange or black food coloring and decorate with Candy Corn! If your really in the mood to bake then you can also make homemade Candy Corn. All you need is 3 ingredients mini marshmallows, powdered sugar, and food coloring. Check out this simple recipe here.
- For FREE decorations grab some old clothes and stuff them with leaves to make your very own unique scare crows. You can also stick plastic wrap over your windows and paint on ghosts, pumpkins, bats, and whatever else comes to mind.
- For cheap entertainment nothing comes better than carving pumpkins. Check out this site to print off some free patterns to get your creative mind flowing.
- If you have extra pumpkins on hand make sure to bake up some fresh pumpkin pie. Here is a great detailed recipe on how to make pumpkin pie from a real pumpkin not a can!
- Last but not least my Favorite thing about Halloween is eating pumpkin seeds. I absolutely LOVE them. They always bring back wonderful memories of my childhood and the fun Halloweens we had. Before you say you don't like pumpkin seeds try these 2 recipes here and here. You might be surprised once you pop one in your mouth!
Have any frugal Halloween ideas?!? Let me know!
