Walgreens: Rolling Register Rewards Scenario!

Well, one of my awesome readers just emailed me a great Walgreens "rolling" Register Rewards scenario. This scenario will make your out of pocket expense ONLY .38 + tax:

Transaction #1:
Purchase 1 Bayer Meter $14.99
Use the $30 Bayer coupon from the 3/22SS or the 10/26RP
(will be adjusted down to make the item free)
Pay tax
Get back a $5RR

Transaction #2:
Buy one Nivea $4.99
Buy one Ecotrin $2
Buy 1 Hallmark Gift Wrap .39 with in ad coupon
(This is your filler item for your coupon to item ratio)
Total=$7.38
Use the $1 Nivea coupon from the 4/19RP
Plus, use the $1 Ecotrin coupon from the 1/25SS
And the $5RR from the previous deal
Pay .38 + tax!
Get back a $5RR from the Nivea and a $2RR from the Ecotrin!

Final cost for all the above FREE + a nice little profit! Then you can take the $7 in Register Rewards and spend them on things you need- like milk and diapers!:)

(Thanks, Kristin!)

Any other great scenarios?!?

I have a question about RR..

I have used them before, and I have read your Q&A but still not sure how this would work....

I want to buy Quilted Northern which is on sale for $5.99 with Walgreens instore coupon. Then I also have a $1.00 coupon from this Sundays paper. So I know I can use both of these together.

I also have $3.50 in RR from the Max Fresh toothbrush deal (2 weeks ago) I would also like to use this but I know I cannot combine it with the Quilted Northern coupon & Walgreens coupon but can I buy a filler item (such as the Hallmark wrapping paper) that is less then $3.50 but the overage will go to the toilet paper?

Thank you for your help and I hope I made sense!

Does a weekly in ad walgreens coupon count toward you #items/#coupon ratio

LisaC said...

April-
Yes, you can use the gift wrap as a filler. You can only have one Manufacturer Coupon per item, and RR are considered mgr. coupon. So, you would have 2 items (t.p. and gift wrap) and 2 manufacturer coupons, which should even things out.

Thanks for updating, Wags totally scares me so I've been waiting for this post to see if I can make it work for me this week!
I guess I have the same question as anon... does the in-ad coupon count against you coupon/item ratio?

Anonymous said...

No, the in-ad coupon doesn't count as a coupon. You can use another coupon ontop of that

April said...

Thanks Lisa, yeah I thought I could roll over the RR if I bought a small filler item since the TP already has a manu coupon but the the RR coupon says the item has to be equal to greater value so I didn't know if it was going to beep. Thanks again!

At my Walgreens, I have found I hold on to my RR with my cash. I just give them the ad Q's and my Q's first. After that totals, then I give them my RR. Haven't had a problem since I've started doing it this way-b4 if I used a Q, they would not generate a RR.

Is there any other ways? I do not have the 3/22 paper...that was right before I started couponing!

Lisa,
Once again--you are awesome!:)

The in ad coupon does NOT count toward your coupon to item ratio. ONLY manufacturer coupons count and since Register Rewards are manufacturer coupons they count too.

Hip2Save said...

Janey,
You can order these coupons in a lot of 10 or 20 on Ebay. I'm not sure how much they are, but just search for the coupons you want.

My Walgreens is still giving me a hard time saying that you cannot roll register rewards so I end up with a bunch of rewards and a bunch of oop. Please advise me in this situation.

Inside some of the boxes of Ecotrin medicine is another $2 coupon. You can roll this if you can keep finding the boxes with the coupon inside. I was able to get $10 in RR with $0 out of pocket! Also, the Gum toothbrushes I got for free. I used a $2 coupon that was previously posted on here.

Check your Walgreens catalinas - I had 2 $2 Ecotrin cats in my stack!

Just a FYI - My coupon inside Ecotrin box says for 60 ct. or larger so I don't think it will work unless there are some ones out there for the smaller 45 box.

Melissa Y. said...

I tried that coupon in the box on the 45 count Ecotrin and it worked and I got the RR. I guess it depends on your store.

If you want to check out how I spent $9.93 OOP and STILL have $27.50 in RRs to roll (and I have yet to get one more contour/bayer meter which would make my RRs more like $32.50) check out my post: it is very long and I have pics! :)

Michelle,
How, or what steps, do you take when you check out, etc.? And perhaps we can help figure out why you're having a problem with your WAGs store, or what to do about it. Just an idea. I know with mine, it was the order I was redeeming the Q's, so let's hear from you and see if we can help you.
Hugs,

July's Sunset,
Everything looks great !:)
The only thing you'll need to do is add in an additional inexpensive filler item for transaction #3. Since you are using 2 RR's- you will need 2 items that don't already have a manufacturer coupon. It looks like you don't have a coupon for the Nivea, so one RR can attach to that and then you'll need one more filler item for the other RR to attach to. I hope that makes sense.

Last week at Walgreen's we were able to get the Bic Soliel disposables for $1.99 after Wagcoupon and ip coupon.

In all the packages that I bought there are $2.00 coupons for the 4-pack or 8 pack Bic Soliel cartridge refills. Right now at Walgereen's the 4-pack are bogo free for $6.99. With two of these coupons you could buy 2 for $2.99.

Thanks for all your great tips,
Tasha

Well I tried to but Nivea and 2 Got 2 Be hair products and then 2 wrapping papers. I used 2 RR for $5 that I had; I used two coupons for the hair prod. and one for the Nivea; the RR's were from the Bayer meter and one probably from the Nivea from the day before. I had 1.76 in OOP. No RR's printed for either product so I returned the items right then and the manager acted horrible and the cashier was mean to me so she said the wrapping paper did not ring up right and threw it and I said I needed to use it and she turned around the little thing that shows the price and she said see it says no item found. I said (since I was fed up) that is not my problem. Then she would no longer help me. I left the store with nothing. Funny thing is that when I got out to the car I think he gave me too many RR's back but I am not sure. Does anyone know what the problem was with the RR's not printing? I wonder why WG's put out the RR's anyway if they hate people who use them so much. Jeez.

Hello!

I tried the Nivia Body Wash deal, and used a $1 Q. The RR did not print. The manager said that since the EasySaver program has expired, that you can not use Qs and receive a RR. To proove her point, she re-rang it without the coupon and the RR printed.
Have you heard of this new policy? Could this vary store to store?

Thanks!
Melissa, Houston

I hope they don't stop allowing coupons on r.r. items! That's what makes it affordable!

Melissa,
This hasn't happened yet in my store! I hope it is just some sort of fluke. I will let you know if I hear anything regarding this, though.

What?!
Ugh I'm supposed to go tomorrow to test out my scenario :(

Wait...what state are you from?

I tried to buy the Schick razor last night with a coupon and it didn't give me the RR. The manager couldn't figure out why, either, so she ended up giving me $3.00 cash back instead. I hope it wasn't because I tried to use a coupon. I really hope it was just a fluke.

Wags is being very difficult with RR and Mftr Q's lately...Today I purchased the Nivea Body Wash, $0.25 Wags Ibuprofen and Gallon of Milk. I wanted to use $1 Mftr Q and $5 RR ($2 C/stick & $3 Shav/Gel) - she stated that I could only use one RR so I used the $3 RR and paid $4.49 OOP. I went to this same store last week and was able to use a bunch of coupons & RR's on my purchases..Not to sure what is happening.

LisaC said...

Susan-It COULD be because you were purchasing Walgreens brand items. You had a $1.00 manufacturer coupon for the Nivea, right? You are allowed one manufacturer coupon per item, and RR are considered manufacturer coupons. Was the milk Walgreens brand? You bought 3 items, so you could use 3 mftg coupons, unless some of the items were Walgreens brand. If the milk was name brand, but the ibuprofen was Walgreens, that would explain only being able to use one RR.
This is the way I understand it, but I'm not 100% sure.

By using coupons on r.r. deals to make it affordable, I mean that it really helps to be able to use a coupon and also get r.r. (register rewards) because it makes less oop(out of pocket) DUH!! You also asked "what state are you from" if you're refering to me, it's KS and if you're refering to the one who's post I was refering to, it states" Melissa, Houston" ( that's in Texas). What state are you in? I went to Walgreens this afternoon and not only was able to use coupons, I also used 3 differernt r.r.'s on one transaction. Guess it depends on who the cashier is and/or manager is.

I think that your walgreens managment are just all confused because the new changes with the easysaver program. My walgreens had coupons next to the bayer deal for this week. This is the display box for the bayer with large print pay 2.50 get 2.50RR and use this coupon for ADDITIONAL SAVINGS so if wallgreens was actually discontinuing coupons and RR's i doubt they would make those display cases. I have had so many problems with my RR's not printing and the cashier only letting me use 1RR per transaction at this store i stopped going for a while but now it would seem that they have been streamlined. I would call catalina with any questions and possible senarios that you worry about running into at the store and ask them exactly what you should do if the cashier or manager gives you a hard time. Just remenmer that you have to wait untill the next day untill you call or your resiept will not be in the system.
