This isn't advertised on their site. I am signed up as a Borders Rewards member and I received this in an email. You can sign up for the Borders Rewards program here-

Keep in mind, Borders requires a membership to use the coupons. Also, if you get Family Circle magazine ($1.99)and use the $2.00 off coupon, you can get it free. :)The cashier wasn't sure I could do this, but he went ahead and tried it and the coupon went through just fine.
You only get the $5 gift card if you are the FIRST one to bring in the reading list from your school. (There is always some small print. lol.)
