Kmart: Update On Coupon Doubles Locations + Coupon Limits!

Well, it looks like Kmart has decided NOT to advertised the double coupon promotion in most weekly ads. If it's not advertised in your local ad it does NOT mean your store is not participating in the doubles promotion. Lots of readers emailed Kmart regarding this and here's what they received back:

Thank you for contacting Kmart regarding the Kmart Double Coupon Event. We appreciate your interest in this promotion. Our next double coupon event will run from 6/7/09 through 6/13/09. All stores except locations in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, and select stores in CA, FL, IN, and PA are participating. Once again, thank you for your interest in our double coupon promotions. We appreciate your business and value you as a Sears Holdings customer. We certainly hope you will continue to make Sears Holdings your choice for quality and value.
*******************************

So the good news is it looks like most states ARE participating! On another positive note, it's almost better they aren't advertising this promotion in all their weekly ads. This means that possibly less people will know about the promotion--Which in turn means there may be more items in stock throughout the week. I also want to add that even if the cashier doesn't know about the doubles promotion it really won't matter! If your store is participating the registers will double the coupons automatically, so it shouldn't be an issue even if you have a clueless cashier.

Also, they've stated in the ad that they are limiting customers to 10 total coupons per day. The strange part is that in the upcoming 6/7 Proctor & Gamble coupon insert they advertise Kmart doubles and the fine print states, "limit 75 coupons per day". I would bring the P&G coupon insert with you when you go shopping. They may honor the 75 coupon limit that's stated and it doesn't hurt to ask. It may be even easier for them to honor this if your store doesn't even have the 10 coupon limit advertised in their weekly ad.

(Thanks goes out to Kate for passing along this info)

One of the readers of Refund Cents has contacted K-Mart regarding the discrepancy between the 10 vs. 75 coupons. Kmart responded that the 75 was an error & the 10 was the correct amount. It probably doesn't hurt to try, however I just wanted to mention this, in case they're clueing in their staff.

I called our local Kmart to see if they are participating. The manager was very nice and said he would call the regional office to find out. He called me back and said they were not. That was the SLC Utah office. He also stated that only 655 stores were participating out of 1400 stores. So I'm not sure who to believe but I will certainly try to use a coupon and see what happens.

Dear Pamela,

Thank you for contacting Sears Holdings Corporation regarding our Double Coupon Event. Unless otherwise specified, here is our Internet Print at Home Coupon policy. Kmart has the right to accept or not accept this type of coupon during their Double Coupon Event.

Kmart's Print-at-Home Internet Coupon Acceptance Policy

Effective March 1, 2009, Kmart will accept industry-standard, secure print-at-home coupons. This will provide additional benefits and incentives to our customers to help them save their money at Kmart.

Due to the continuing shift in utilizing online facilities, allowing the redemption of print at home coupons is becoming a larger more important aspect to the budget wise customer. But there is a significant risk in fraudulent alerted coupons. It is critical that the following guidelines be understood and followed to identify coupons that will not be accepted by the Kmart register operators.

Kmart can only accept print-at-home coupons if they scan properly at checkout. Legitimate printable coupons are delivered using special software designed to print a properly rendered barcode on the coupon and limit the number of coupons printed. If the coupon dos not scan properly it cannot be accepted

Kmart will not accept coupons for more than about 75% of a product's value. For example, a $2 off coupon for a product that sells for $2.25 is unlikely to be legitimate. If there are exceptions, Kmart is usually provided advance notice by the manufacturer.

Coupons will be rejected if they appear distorted or blurry, altered in any way, or are obvious duplicates.

Kmart will not accept "FREE product" (no purchase required) print-at-home coupons. It is currently an industry practice not to produce print-at-home manufacturer's coupons for free product. Buy-one-get-one-free coupons and other values that have a purchase requirement are acceptable.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced, regarding this Double Coupon Event, and the coupons that we are accepting, or not accepting.

Sincerely,

Rosa Lee

Is it true they are NOT going to honor internet coupons?

I called three stores in Utah County and they all said they will NOT be participating! I am sick of Utah never getting in on this deal...I think I will be moving to Idaho!

I got an email from coorporate stating the states NOT participating. VA was not on the list. So, I called my local Kmart and the lady was rude and said she has not heard anything about it and they are obviously not participating since she hasn't heard about it. So, I guess I will wait and try to call back on Monday.

Long Beach, California IS participating! As is most of the Long Beach, and surrounding cities!!

I just wanted to let VA readers know that I e-mailed corporate and they said that ALL VA KMarts were participating. At the last event the manager and cashiers at the Tabb KMart said they were not participating but the registers DID double up to $2. It was so nice because no one knew it was going on and all the shelves were well stocked for several days!

The same thing is occuring at the Burlington Iowa Kmart, I emailed the corporate office and they said all Kmarts in Iowa ARE participating, but when called the Burlington Kmart the manager was rude and said she knew nothing about it. I emailed back to the corp office and stated my confusion, they assured me that ALL Iowa Kmarts are participating, so another call was placed to Burlington Kmart and I asked if I brought my email with me would they honor them, she was very rude but said yes. That is what I plan on doing. Heads up to most, email the corporate office and find out, then you have it in writing from them.

I emailed corporate, and they said that all Ohio stores were participating! Just FYI for any Buckeyes out there...

Does anyone know if the $5 off $50 coupon is before or after coupons?

Anonymous said...

The 5/50 coupon is after.I tried to use it lasttime and the computer rejected it after my other coupons went through, even though it was scanned first :(

Anonymous said...

I am bringing in my email from Kmart coorperate JUST in case they try to not double them :)

Party Plannin Momma said...

You have to give them the $5/$50 first and then all of your other coupons. I have done this probably 50 times now (as I have went a few times a week when it is my local Kmart)I have had totals of only a few cents to a few dollars... :D Best wishes!

I couldn't use the $5/$50 coupon either. Even she scaned it first,
the computer didn't take it.

Anyone knows if Kmart carries the Chinet products? Just wondering, I still have 10 of those $2 off coupons and would like to use them before they expire at the end of the month. Thanks.

Danielle said...

Yes and the Chinet coupons work on the paper plates as well ;) I got a ton last time, but they were on sale...so this time around they wouldn't be free unless you combined it with the $5/$50 Q. The cups came out to .79 each with the coupons.

In TN, only Kingsport and Johnson City are participating. No other cities are participating:(

In NC, only Concord is participating.

Kaitlyn said...

Just got a reply form Kmart... Massachusetts is NOT participating as usual. BOO

I got an email from corp KMart that ALL stores in NC are participating. I did not get an answer on the limit though. I will follow-up on that.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that no stores in Alabama are participating, as usual. Our stores haven't done a DC event since December, I believe. It's happening so often other places it's almost worth moving (I'm half joking lol).

Anonymous said...

Kmart accepts internet coupons, but are they part of the double coupon event? Anyone??

The Sewing Ninja said...

Oh, now they say only Concord, NC is participating.

Thank you for contacting Kmart regarding the Kmart Double Coupon Event. We appreciate your interest in this promotion. This event is for select participating Kmart locations from 6/7 - 6/13. The coupon limit is ten per customer per day. We apologize for the misinformation provided previously regarding participating locations. Corporate has revised the listing. The following location is participating in North Carolina:

545 Concord Parkway Concord NC 28027

My Kmart doubled internet coupons last time I went. I was told no at the service desk, then she ask a manager and she said yes. Make sure you ask a manager if you are told no.

I e-mailed K-Mart asking about whether Oregon is participating, and got this response:

Thank you for contacting Kmart regarding the Kmart Double Coupon Event.

At this time the locations in Oregon are not participating in our event. Please contact us periodically for further updates.

Thank you for contacting us.

i just called coorporate and she told me that there is not any restictions on using internet coupons for the double event. as long as they scanned and were not copies of manufacture coupons. she got my name and phone number and said if I had any problems to call them from the store and they would have to honor them.

Anyone know if the southeast ID stores are in the same region covered by the SLC office? I didn't see ID on the "excluded" list, but I called the manager of the Idaho Falls/Ammon store, and he didn't know anything about it. Anyone in SE Idaho know if we're included? Thanks!

Anonymous said...

Corporate emailed me and Yakima,Wa is not participating

Anonymous said...

Apparently they are not sure what is going on. I received this response on 6/4...

This event is for select participating Kmart locations from 06/07-06/13 for coupons up to and including $2...... Our records indicate all Oregon and Washington Kmart stores are participating.

I went to my Kmart in Mauldin, SC this morning - because corporate had confirmed they were participating - and they were not aware of it. The coupons also did NOT double when they were scanned. However, they were very nice and the manager gave the OK to double my Q's manually - yay! I also asked if she could use my $5/$50 Q first and she did. They were very accommodating, but I'm so glad I was prepared with my email from corporate!

I just got back from the Kmart in Oakdale, MN and they are NOT participating in the DC promotion - they knew nothing about it. I plan to email corporate tomorrow to confirm. I'll bring my email with me if indeed they are doubling.

Anonymous said...

Ok I think that I will just continue to shop elsewhere I called corporate twice last week and both times was told that ALL UTAH locations were participating and then I called my local Logan UT store and was told that they are not participating this week but that they do expect to do a double event in the near future. When I asked when I was told that I had to talk to corporate and I told the lady I HAD talked to corporate and she told me I was mistaken.

So it's just another case of their traditional lousy service!!!

For all those having trouble with the $5/$50 the reason many of them may not have worked is because you have to make sure your subtotal (before tax) reaches $50. If your total including tax comes to $50 it will not work. Make sure to check the subtotal first. Make sure to have a few small items to add on in case your total goes into the negative. Kmart does not pay money out. Good luck to all!
