Target Deals 9/13-9/19

Numerous readers are having issues with being able to stack a Target coupon and manufacturer coupon together on one item. Well, the good news is that Target's coupon policy clearly states that you can use both coupons together on one item. Their policy also states that if the value of the coupon is higher then the value of the item, then they can adjust the coupon down. Plus, their coupon policy in now available to view online here! Yay! Print it off and keep it with you every time you shop at Target. You also may want to read more about the coupon issues people have been encountering and what can be done about it here.

For the Kashi Deal, the sample from Vocal Point came with 5 $1.50 coupons, and a "one free box" coupon all for kashi honey cereal. Will these work with the Kashi Deal for the gift card??

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure if the Kashi honey cereal is included in the deal, but Walgreens has Kashi cereal 12.4 to 24 oz on sale for $2.50 so I'm going to price match all my cereals for an added savings!

Hip2Save said...

Hipster,
Yes, those coupons will work! The Kashi Honey Sunshine Cereal is part of the gift card deal!:)

can't find the Wonka $1.00 coupon. Any special zipcode?

Hey Collin and All - the organic Target coupon generator has new target coupons up!!!

Kashi sample reps were giving out FREE Kashi reusable grocery bags at my Target today- keep an eye out if you are there!

Frugal Friend said...

I'm price-matching the Kashi cereal too. I noticed in the Wags ad there is a limit of 4, so one box wil be $2.88 and the other 4 wil be $2.50. That will make 5 boxes for $0.38 after the gift card!
$2.50 x 4 + $2.88 = $12.88
-$1.50 x 5 = -$7.50 coupons
-$5 GC
TOTAL: $0.38 for 5 boxes!

Anon,
Use zip code 90210!

I just got back from Target, and the crackers didn't work for the Kashi deal. But I found lots of Kashi coupons stuck to the cereal boxes (each one had $1 off a frozen item, $1 off cookies or crackers, AND $1 off cereal). Made my deal even sweeter!! Got a box of cereal and 4 frozen meals for $2.54 total after gift card.

Anonymous said...

I found peelies on cereal boxes like the above poster found! Which is good because I've already got a ton of cereal-now I can get some good deals on their crackers!

can this work on the pizzas?

**WARNING Rumor alert**

I was at Target today and was told by a super cool cashier that Target is upgrading their software at the end of the month to make it harder for us to use coupons. I sure hope this isn't true...

permgemma said...

I think on of the reasons you have issues with target is using the B1G1 coupons twice. If you are getting both of them free, then you are not buying one. This will more than likely be flagged at most of the stores.
Amanda (Target Team Member for 5 years and very happy couponer there!)

permgemma said...

Let me respond if I may about the new software... yes it is true target is upgrading its software. i assure you it is NOT for the sloe purpose of making your life hard. I have worked at our Target for five years and DAILY see people trying to rip the store off by using coupons incorrectly. As I mentioned in an earlier post, B1G1 coupons cannot be used in conjunction with one another. You have to BUY something to get something free! If Walgreens takes them, then go there. But Target does not (unless yo have an ignorant cashier). If your coupon "beeps" you will not be able to use it, and from what i am told the cashiers are not going to be able to override. it. Policy states one man. q and one Target q, and we even have sining to state that at our registers (they should always take both.) The exception is that some of the TQ do say limit one per trans. please please please be honest and not try to go around the rules just to get something free. This is EXACTLY why the stores are cracking down. Too many people are ruining it for the whole lot.
Amanda

Permgemma- I don't have a problem using coupons at Target. Actually, there are a couple really good casiers that are couponers and we help each other out with deals and coupons. So, I don't have a B1G1 problem or any other. Just relaying what I heard and hoped someone would clarify it for me. Thanks!

FYI - The ronzoni healthy heart thin spaghetti boxes are regularly priced $.76 at my Target (Jackson, TN). Sweet deal with the coupon!!

Tara S said...

ok so with the new system that is not going to let the cashier override it if it beeps....most of my coupons beep and it is not because i am doing anything wrong...everything is by the book and it still beeps...what is target going to do when i have 50coupons that beep but there isnt really anything wrong???

Anonymous said...

anyone know if kashi waffle would work

Couponing4myTacoma said...

Tara -

We get to stand in line while the managers call corporate and figure out how to follow their own coupon policy. I don't break the rules either and everything beeps.

Whitney said...

I tried to price match the Kashi cereal with the Walgreens ad, but they said I had to choose either the price match or the $5 giftcard. I spoke to a manager and she told me the same thing. Corporate is closed. Anyone else have trouble price matching?

Anonymous said...

AMANDA,
I FELT LIKE YOU WERE A LITTLE RUDE IN YOUR COMMENTING. YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE CASHIERS THAT I HATE.

amanda said...

Anon,
Actually, I am one of the more lenient coupon cashiers and I talk to our managers daily about how we can be more coupon friendly and try to solve some of these issues. I use 20 coupons myself minimum on almost every transaction and I am also extremely frustrated by Target's system. But there are plenty who are trying to rip the store off and who are sneaking in invalid coupons. All I am saying is that they are the ones that are ruining it, so don't be one of those couponers. I have talked daily about how we are going to handle when the coupon is legit and it beeps, and I will be happy to share with you what corporate says about it when they give me an answer.

Heather said...

I had a horrible time at Target last week and chose not to blog about it - but it was very frustrating.
They would not accept the $1/2 cheese coupons for string cheese, would not take the All coupons for the trial size (even though no size was listed on coupon). I left with nothing. Manager involved who was very rude and argued with me...

Anonymous said...

I have a question about Target. I am new to couponing there and wanted to do the dog food deal. If I want to get 4 bags of the chef Michaels and have 4 target coupons and 4 manufacturer coupons. Will that work...or would they all have to be seperate transactions?

I'm So Pretty said...

Anon, honestly it depends on the store and the cashier. Technically, they could insist you buy each bag of dog food in a separate transaction, so you'd have to buy each bag with a Target Q and a mfr Q in four separate transactions, each with its own receipt. Or, if you're lucky (as I often am at my Target), the cashier won't blink an eye and just scan in all the coupons, and you'll be okay. The problem with the Chef Michael's deal right now is that there might be some overage and the cashiers sometimes get flustered by having to adjust down the coupons to zero everything out. I often buy something extra just so there is no less-than-zero issue. Hope this helps!

Anonymous said...

The Kashi Waffles are on sale for $1.79 at my store... with the $1 any frozen peelie found on boxes of cereal at target and at Kroger... I got 5 boxes for FREE + overage after rolling a GC!

2 deals that I found:

Softsoap Nutri Serums Body Wash $2.99
-$1 coupon from paper or internet
-$1 TARGET coupon from 9/13 insert
=$.99!

Softsoap Ensembles Pump $4.99 (on price cut) and Refill $2.49
-$3 off refill wyb a pump (SS 8/30, expires 9/19)
-$3.50 TARGET coupon wyb pump & refill from 9/13 insert
=$.98 for both!
I LOVE this soap, so I’m thrilled to get 2 for $1!

I know Target coupons in the paper vary by region. I’m in the Chicago area if that helps anyone.

Anonymous said...

Thanks I'm So Pretty, that helps a lot! Guess I will give it a go and try to find a young teenager who will hopefully not give me a hard time lol.

Katie said...

Thanks for your insider advice Amanda!

I'm So Pretty said...

Well, Anon, I take it all back - my Target, like so many others apparently, is claiming to be cracking down and refused to take my mfr Q stacked with a Target Q that brought the item price to less than zero. They would not adjust, they just insisted they couldn't take the coupons in that situation, because they're not allowed to have anything be "free". I finally argued my way to a manager (Vito) who agreed -- very reluctantly -- to adjust the item price to 1-cent. Okay, that's just about as good and I took it, but it took a lot of arguing and humiliation on my part to get that adjustment when it shouldn't have at all. He also knew nothing about the policy online, and because I was caught totally unprepared I didn't have a copy and couldn't show it to him on the registry computer in customer service.

My experience today...

Amanda said...

As far as I know, the TQ's should automatically scan down the adjusted price. According to the direction with the new roll out, they should already be adjusting down.
Previously the policy stated that you have to pay a penny for an item if the coupon does not say "FREE." Not sure what they will do going forward once the new roll out hits every store.

All-

If you have problems with a target breaking their own rules, have them call corporate from the customer service desk. I'm never rude, but i've made a parking lot call to corporate, walked back in and got my items with the coupons i first intended to use after a manager was himself uninformed. The manager was told to call corporate right when the customer is there to find out if i'm breaking the rules.

Don't let a few cashiers or managers bully you into backing out of their own policy. You can be polite and assertive at the same time.

OH and i meant to mention -

For the kellogg Eggo deal, make sure you get the pancakes and only the pancakes as the target coupon to stack is only for the pancakes and not the waffles. Got slightly stuck with not as great of a deal because i didn't catch that.

*and it made me look like i was trying to cheat with a cashier that already gives me a hard time* :(

all well, i'll be as sweet as pie to her and hopefully she'll learn to love me. :)

Kate said...

I very very rarely have a coupon NOT beep at Target and I do follow the rules! =( I always feel silly when it beeps and feel like they are going to think I am cheating. I don't like coupon shopping there, but the deals are good so I do it.

I'm So Pretty said...

Well, here's the response from Target to my complaint. They do mention the location of my store and they do provide a reference number (which may or may not actually mean something if I call). I will print this out and take it with me and try again today (I had already decided to just never go in there again, but maybe I'll try this ONCE):

I'm glad you've taken the time to write us about your experience. We’re sorry you didn't receive the type of service you've come to expect at Target.

We know the importance of having well-trained team members, and I know it can be frustrating if you receive inconsistent information about our services. Hearing your comments is very important to us, and I’ve shared them with the XYZ-town Target Store Leadership team for further review.

Also, if you have any questions about a specific coupon or experience using a coupon at Target, we want to help! Please give our Guest Relations team a call at (800) 440-0680. We'll do the best we can to help you as quickly as possible. For your call, please provide a team member with the following reference number: 1-4XXXXXXXXX.

In the meantime, I'd like to share with you some information about our coupon policy. When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

- We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.
- We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
- We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we're able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
- We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
- All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out.

Thanks for writing. Give us a call if there's anything else we can do to help.

Sincerely,

James

I know many people seem to be very frustrated with Target. I just wanted to say there are some really great Target stores out there! I decided to shop at a Target superstore this week because I knew they would have a better supply and selection of the items on my list compared to my local Target store. As usual I had a lot of coupons most of them were printed. The cashier began scanning my coupons and at least 5 or 6 of them did not scan so she had to manually imput the numbers of the coupon and she never batted an eye. She did a great job and I told her so! Don't give up on Target.

Maria said...

I tried to get the .49 colgate total deal yesterday but the $1/1 Target coupon is specifically for the Colgate Total Enamel Strength toothpaste witch was the only Colgate Total product not on sale.

The Hansen Family said...

I usually never have a problem at Target, although I have learned how to use my coupons there. I usually don't buy the travel size, it's generally not worth it to me to get such a small item, eve if it is free. That saves me a lot of trouble. I always hand over my man. q first, then Target coupon. I of course only use one man and one Target coupon per item.

My one frustration is that a lot of times the system does say I do not have the correct item, even though I know for sure I do. This happens almost every trip and the cashiers always over ride it. It's going to be frustrating if they can't over ride when I am buying something legitimate.

I agree that there are people out there who are ruining it for the rest of us and giving us a bad reputation. Amanda, I don't think you were being rude, just informative. And to Anonymous, who called you rude, who you have said that if your name was posted?

Anonymous said...

Anyone else having "technical difficulties" with the scrubbing bubbles coupons site?

Cydne said...

I have been having the same problem with the Scrubbing Bubbles site.

Thanks to Amanda for her info - she is right that it is the rule breakers who ruin this for all.

However, I am in agreement with those who have concerns because our legitimate coupons say "item not found." I am sure they will find a way to address this. If not, they will be losing a lot of business, and I am sure they are aware of that.

Hi Hip2Save,

I have been reading your blog for a month now and I would like to say THANK YOU for sharing all the special deals and the great savings we can get everyday and everyweek.

I just want to let you know that I just came from Target today (alittle bit nervous since I had an experience with them before, using coupons) and everything went well. There is a slight questioning with their manager but they did not give me a hard time.

Summary of what I got are:
(1) 24 oz bag of Chef Michael's Dog Food = .26cents

(4) 5 oz Chef Michael's Dry Dog Food = FREE

(4) All Stainlifter (travel size) = .02cents

(1) Pop Tarts Whole Grain Toaster Pastries - .46cents

The total amount I paid for is $1.18 :) that is awesome. I think I am going back tom:)
