Walgreens: Promotional Money for Cosmetics Cashiers by Purchasing Glade Candles!

Heather, a reader, emailed me something interesting she found out while shopping at Walgreens. She was purchasing the 2 oz Glade Soy Candles and the cosmetics cashier let her know that those are there "PM" item of the month. Of course Heather didn't know what that meant and so she asked. PM means Promotional Money--which means they earn bonus money for each candle they sell.

I personally think this is great info for all of us. Why? Well, if you want to show your appreciation to a coupon friendly cashier, buying these candles is the perfect way to do it. Also, if want to get in good with a cashier, then this will most definitely help!:) Remember that you can snag these free (check the Walgreens weekly deals for info) and so, it's really no loss to you to buy them anyway!

I have a few favorite cashiers at various stores and I always try to be as nice and polite as possible. I've previously even given a few cashiers some of my freebies as a thank you for there patience with me and my coupons! Once you find a great cashier make sure you let her know how great you think she really is. Most cashiers are so appreciative of this and will go above and behind to help you out.

(Thanks, Heather!)

I went to 2 different stores yesterday and neither one carried these candles.

The new 99-cent Oreo Brownies are also a PM item this month. They are at the register and make a great filler item.

Ladies, a relative of mine couldn't find the small candles. Then, she found them at the front registers. It makes sense that they make money on them and they are located there. That is where they usually put stuff that they make money on. So, your store might have them in a place you don't expect them to.

my Wags didn't have them either. I checked 5 of them too

I asked too.. none of them had them.

That Heather is something else. You might have to hire her to write articles...I see her name on here a lot!

My Walgreens had them separately in a special display near the end of an aisle - separate from the rest of the candles. I almost didn't notice them as they were at my knees.

^^ Yes, same here with the Walgreens that I shop at.

I love my cashier when I go to Walgreens. She is this little old lady with a booming voice and a personality to match! She is great. She is always so excited to see how much we save (notice how I said we!) when I come in.

I haven't been able to find these at any of my stores. :(

I didn't know Walgreens did that either. I've bought 12 of them already from my favorite cashier so I'm sure he's happy. I'm guessing last month their promotional item was M&M's, everytime I went to check out the cashiers would ask if I wanted to buy some. Good to know, thanks!

That is so funny cause my cashier had these at the registar and tried to sell me both. Every time I go in now they ask If I want the brownie and say how good they are! If you can't find there by the candles, look at the registars!

I have given two Qs for a free Starbucks pint to two Walgreen cashiers who are happy about my couponing! It absolutely made their day. Yes, it could have helped me score a fantastic deal on Starbucks this week, but they were so much more valuable to them than to me!

Awwww I used all my coupons during the $5 RR for spending $25 week. I would have LOVED to get my favorite cosmetics cashier a bonus!!!

They don't carry them at my walgreens! :(

I've done two orders of three using two $3 coupons each time and only paid tax (about forty cents). Then I received a $1 register reward (which I use at Meijer or Albertsons). Sweet deal. And no beeps either.

I am confused jrl19...you can use your Walgreens Register Reward at Albertsons?

Yes, Walgreen register rewards are manufacturers coupons. All stores that accept manuf q's should allow Walgreen RR's. I've used Albertson's Catalinas at Meijer, too. Sometimes you may run into an unknowledgeable cashier that won't allow another store's rr/catalina, but they are incorrect.

I was recently devastated to learn that my awesome cosmetics cashier at Walgreens recently had her register "taken away" from her (her words). What the deuce? She was helpful and patient with coupons and I loved her! She never did anything unethical or against store policy as far as I know. What can I do to help her? I wish I knew her name!! I can't believe I never bothered to learn it...

I haven't been able to find these candles at any Walgreens near me. However, I was able to find them at my nearby Albertsons! So I got 5 free candles!

I am a senior beauty advisor at Walgreens, and actually any of the items of the month you get "pm's" on. In order for her to get credit for the candle, she would HAVE to check you out at the front register. The item of the month for cosmetics is the St. Ive's lotion and Rimmel mascara. Which has to be checked out in cosmetics. You get ALL kinds of pm's in cosmetics. That's how we make our money :) The only catch is, you have to ring the customer in cosmetics. So everytime you purchase any cosmetic item, check out in cosmetics :) we make money everytime. Thanks!!

brownies and candles are pms for the front and photo register people. walgreens lotion and mascara are cosmetics

Just curious - is the PM amount calculated before or after coupons? If I buy 2 candles for $4 and use a $3 coupon, does the cashier get credit for the $4 or just $1?

The PM's for the candles are probably 10-20 cents a candle!

Not sure on the amount.
