I tried this last year and the machine jammed up every time. Even thought it seems like a good deal it didn't work so well for me.

I am new to this whole (addicting) couponing world and am just trying to figure out all the "rules" ;). I know at Walgreens you have to have an item for each coupon and so if you use RR and already have coupons for all your items you have to get filler items (right???) Is the same true at CVS? Can you have coupons for all your items and use the $5 off $20 and ECB's in one transaction or do you have to have filler items to use the ECB's? (Does that make sense)?

Kylie,

I have never used anything for fillers, unless I was trying to reach a specific amount. (20..25..etc.) I have used a $5 off coupon with ecbs, and manufacture coupons. One tip, give them any $(dollars) off store coupon first, then manufacture and then ecbs. I had a cashier ring up items and then manufacture coupons, and then your total amount will be lower than your $ off coupon, and then the system won't take the coupon. I was able to score

Doh! I just did this at a Coinstar two weeks ago! Bummer that I missed it. :(

ops..never finished...Kids!

Anyways I was able to score 80.00 worth of Always in one transaction. I bought 10 packs @ 4.99 (reg 8.00) added a candy bar.62
total was 50.52
I used a 10.00 off of 50.00 coupons
10 4.00 always coupons
I ended up paying 3.53 ...it's a bummer we have to pay tax on our total amount before coupons.

The only time I've ever had to add filler items at CVS is when the final total (after the $/$$ coupons, manufacturers coupons and ECBs have been subtracted) comes out in the negative -- which is a good thing! Then I'll usually throw in a candy bar or a small bag of nuts to bring the total above zero. But CVS doesn't have any of the intricate rules that you have to follow with Walgreens. And they always seem pretty coupon friendly. Have fun!

Is the Coinstar fee waived for this promo? Do you get your entire $40 back plus being able to get the $10 giftcard or do you only get $40 less the Coinstar fee?

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know the coinstar fee? I am sure it is posted on a machine, but just wondered before I make the trip.

Normally, when you take a gift card in lieu of the cash equivalent there is no fee charged!

http://www.coinstar.com/us/html/q4_officialrules

official rules - you redeem a certificate by mail for the extra $10.

You can always change $40 into quarters at the bank if the deal intrigues you!

For any of yall who feel like you missed out on this b/c you cashed in your coins already, just go to the bank, get a huge load of quarters and have at it! See...you didnt miss out at all.

It can be a pain though b/c the retailers are not familiar with the program. And the $ doesn't come as an actual gift card...it's more like a receipt type thing.

Great deal. I've been saving up a few jars of change. Now looks like the time to change them in.

the list for gift cards or e-certificates are Amazon, Borders, Cabellas, CVS, Eddie Bauer, iTunes, JCPenny, Lowes, Old Navy, Overstock.com, Regal Entertainment group, and Starbucks.

Hello. The Coinstar normal charge for just getting cash from your coins, is about 8.9 cents from each dollars. BUT if you cash in for a Gift Card or E Certificate, which this is, there is NO coin counting fee. Rules for this Offer from the Coinstar website state this Offer is ONLY for an E Certificate, NOT a Gift Card. You would have to "cash" in for an E Certificate for shoppping online, not actually in a store. Amazon.com, JCPenny, com, Lowes.com, etc. Hope this helps as if you buy from amazon.com, this is great to end up getting an extra free $10 e cert for them about 2 months after you mail in for it.

i think the coinstar fee is 8.5 cents per dollar

I've never used Coinstar before and would love to hear feedback from someone who tries this!

I read the website rules and I didn't see anything stated that you could only receive an e-certificate. I would like to get a CVS gift card to use in store if possible. They have no expiration and do not depreciate from inactivity.

I did this deal last yeaR and was great! I've been saving a special pig bank just for that!! I did for a gift card for JCPenney (I have rewards there too :)- comes in an e-certificate and was taken by JCPenny easily! Then you submit the receipt and get a $10 gift card! Sweet!

When you get the $40 Amazon.com e-cert, do you have to use all $40 at once on Amazon's website, or can you use it on lesser amounts and keep a balance on the e-cert or your Amazon account?

is this for all coinstars or just certian ones

Thanks so much for sharing this deal. My daughter and I just cashed in our spare change, and it came to $63.72!

I did this deal and cashed in 49.23 and there was nothing at the bottom of the receipt. Which by the way you have to hand over to the cashier. I had her give me another copy. The Amazon gift cert is $10.00 not $40.00 just and FYI

I did this last week. I had never used Coinstar before, and it was pretty straight forward.

I got $40 in quarters from the bank and cashed them in. The machine I used was not a newer model and they had a few e-certificates, but no gift cards available. I got a code for a $40 Amazon e-certificate.

At the bottom of my receipt, there is a voucher to fill out for the $10 certificate -- must be received by 1/13/10.

I entered the code for the $40 certificate on Amazon.com and it has already been credited to my acct. -- just like Swagbucks gift cards.

I didn't have to deal with a cashier at all so this might vary from region to region?
