I don't like this deal because up until the last issue published, this magazine used to be free! I won't pay for it - the coupons won't compensate for the subscription and the recipes can be found for free online.

The Kraft Food and Family Magazine used to be free, are they charging for it now or is this just a promo for subscribing to the Magazine you can get a discount CookBook?

These are the BEST cookbooks ever! I have been getting them for the past 5 years. My hubby has loved everything in these mags. I have told several people about them also. Great deal.

I like this mag, and prefer it in print as opposed to online. I went through Ebates, and got 6% back as well (it's only $0.36, but it's better than nothing). Thanks!

You can get the recipes online at Kraftfoods.com, but it is so handy to have it in print.

Angela - their latest issue was the last free issue. They are now going to charge for it. The invoice that came with my latest issue says that a one year subscription is $6.99.

Yep, they are starting to charge for it. I got the subscription thing with my last issue. I'm not going to do the subscription either. I'll just look online for recipes. Kraft does have awesome recipes though!

I have only used about 4 of the recipes from the magazine itself in the last 4 or 5 years. The rest of the time I go to their website. I don't think Ill pay for it. Online is less clutter for me.

Great recipes but I'm like everybody else I will look at the recipes online and skip paying for a subcription for a few coupons.

Hi guys,

I agree that it stinks they're now charging for the magazine (since it use to be free). However, the reason I posted the deal is because the print issue usually comes with lots of high value coupons that will easily make up for the $6 charge.

Great deal even though it used to be free!! I don't know how on earth you find the time to find all these deals. I can't even keep the laundry done, house clean, family fed...

Adrienne, How did you get this for $0.36 through Ebates?

I LOVE this magazine. I ordered it. It is fun to keep my meals different. I think it is worth it. Yes, Free is my favorite 4 letter F word, but I think the value is worth it; even without the coupons.

Thanks for posting this but I'm totally turned off by them now charging for the opportunity to send ads for their products! The coupons have decreased in both number and value over the last couple years, too. I even wrote them a few issues ago when they had the nerve to print an "article" showing 2 kids making mac and cheese. Yawn. I also thought it a bit rude to send an invoice with NO explanation or apology or thanks for the loyalty.

I've gotten this magazine for free for years. This is the only magazine I keep and don't recycle because I really like the recipes. That being said...I am not paying for it now, especially since I have noticed that a lot of the recipes seem to be repeat from the season before. I will just keep using the recipes from the magazines I have already saved. They do have coupons inside, but they tend to be $/off 2, 3, 4 and there really aren't that many.

Anonymous said...

also I forgot to mention all the recipes are basically adds for their products, but you can use other brands

I like receiving these magazines. I like looking at not only the recipes but presentation ideas, ads, etc. They also have coupons. Not everything can stay free. Especially in this economy. Just think of the cost for them to print and mail these to everyone. I think a $6.00 fee for a year is not that much considering the coupons you also get with it and the ideas/recipes for our families.

I will get $.36 BACK though Ebates, so it decreases my cost by $.36. It works the same as Shop At Home rebate posted in this deal. I wish I was getting for $.36! I hope I explained this well...

I LOVE this magazine but I'm not willing to pay for it either.

Hey Hip!

I sooo appreciate this offer. I ordered 2 one for my hub and one for my sis...I know it was free but heck, a great cookbook for $7 is a great deal and the mag is awesome so I'm ecstatic-thanks for ALL you do!!!

Anonymous said...

I remember when it use to be free too! Bummer!

I think subscribers would have been a lot more willing to pay for it if there had at least been an explanation for the change rather than just an invoice with the latest issue. I agree too that the coupons have been fewer and of much less value. It just was quite irritating that they didn't notify me of the change when I have gotten the magazine for many years!

I agree that they should have sent us an explanation instead of just an invoice. I was confused by the invoice. AND my last edition didn't have ANY coupons in it. Makes me wonder if there won't be Qs anymore? I chose not to order either because the recipes do tend to repeat themselves and most are VERY basic. I loved this mag when I first started getting it several years ago, but the last 2 years I haven't gotten much out of it.

I just got the latest issue and I dont even recall any coupons in it. or maybe i just didnt notice cause i was all bummed out that it had a please subscribe paper in it :(

These are the one of the few magazines i dont recycle either. But its just a seasonal mag. isnt it? i think i only got maybe 5 in this whole year. not worth the new bill

THANKS though!!! <3

I have tried to go through Ebates and Shop At Home and I am only getting the 15% off. How do I get the price down to under a $1?

Those that have been complaining about the fee for this magazine should really stop complaining. Seriously, it's ridiculous that you are complaining about a mere 6 bucks. If you don't want to subscribe to it then don't. It's that simple! Thanks Hip for this great deal cause I know other cooking magazines are at least 4 times more expensive than this.

hi hip! thanks for this post! got my one year thru shop at home. thanks so much!! :)

Anonymous,

I can think of much better things to do with my $6, especially when you can get all of the Kraft recipes FREE on their website.

Maybe I'm just one of those stuck up people who won't even pay for toothpaste.

Anonymous said...

not sure but I dont think its about the 6 bucks, Alot of us have gotten this magazine for free for YEARS and with no explanation and no reason they change it.
We arnt complaining that it isnt a good deal! Im sure we are all thankfull for everything Collin put up for us, we are just complaining that we USED to get it free. Thats basicly why alot of us read the comments, to see what others say about a product or service. Alot of ppl might know something that some of us dont. Nothing wrong with stating an opinoin about something.

No one is saying "OMG DONT GET THAT ITS BLAH BLAH BLAH". some are just venting anout the change.

BTW as a couponer, $6.00 goes a longer way then it used to :D

I loved getting this mag.. but I refuse to pay for it. I think it is lame that they are charging for it.. when all their recipies are made with their products so many people will be buying their stuff.

I have been getting this magazine since they first offered it, at first there were lot's of great coupons in it - then suddenly none at all. Now I get a few that I rarely use, I actually contacted Kraft about this some time ago and was told that some people get coupons some months and some don't - basically they rotate. I was shocked to get a bill with my last magazine and decided that paying for their advertisment when I wasn't getting any coupons wasn't worth it. If your one of those lucky ones actually getting the coupons it might be a great deal.
And overall it's a great deal on a magazine and thank you Colin for sharing with us - even if it's not for everyone - some of us are just feeling jilted that they've decided to charge for the subscription now.

I was bent out of shape about it, but I figured that it's a decent deal and I know that I would be more bent out of shape if there is some killer deal that I miss out on because I don't have a subscription.
So I subscribed. I used ebates and there is a 15% off code if you're a new HSN customer C56574.
So it only cost $5.94

I'm glad they're offering this at a decent price (instead of $12) since it's no longer free. My mom sent me a few that she got for free, but she no longer gets it. The recipies in the magazine were beyone easy, super duper fast, totally tasty, & absolutely awesome. My hubby was very thankful I was able to put some spice into the menu. It was becomming very mundane.

I like having the book with me because my printer is not working & I don't want to write all the instructions down. I spend enough time selling things on Craigslist, I don't need to spend anymore time waiting for my computer to navigate through a website trying to find a specific recipie that I know I saw at one point in time, but can't seem to remember what it's listed under. For not being free anymore, that certainly is a bummer, however it could always be worse!

I also used to get this for free and have missed it since they started charging. I went through Shop at Home for the first time and was wondering how I will get the $5.00 back? Thanks!
