Some Target Coupons are Manufacturer Coupons!

Alright, what is going on with Target coupons?! I'm so confused. I was all excited about posting Target deals with all the new Target coupons available... but guess what? Quite a few of the so called Target coupons are actually manufacturer coupons with Target logos--which means we can't stack these with additional manufacturer coupons.

Also, the other problem, you can't tell what's a manufacturer coupon and what's a Target coupon before printing. This makes it kinda difficult to know what to print. Anyway, I just wanted to give you all a heads up on this. I don't want any of you to waste your beloved printer ink on coupons that may not be worth printing.

Oh and the Target American Greeting cards deal I posted below, ya... scratch that!

Any thoughts?

we need to send a bunch of complaints to corporate to specify if it's a store coupon or mfr coupon!!

Bummer... Thanks for the heads up and keep on blogging!! ;)

I think Target is going to lose alot of business!!!

Not a fan of target right now!

I don't go to Target all that much, but maybe if EVERYONE stopped shopping at Target for a while and when they see that they have lost a lot of customers, then maybe, just maybe, they will go back to the way things were...not entirely sure this will work, but it's worth a try, and will also give everyone a chance to use up some of their stock.

I hate when they don't let you see the coupon you are printing.

mommyluvs2save said...

That's going to make life difficult. Hopefully they will straighten this out. Thanks

They are already losing business. I love Target, but if I cannot get my cereal there for $1 a box, I'll go to a competitor where I can.

I'm fairly new to this site and am a bit confused. I have the 3M hook "Target Web" coupon printed. Is this not a Target coupon after all ? It was generated from Target's website. I want to stack the "Target Web" coupon with the actual manufacturer 3M $1 coupon.

Target is making our lives so hard!! AHHH!! How confusing!

Anonymous said...

I second Amy's and Molly's comments!

I REALLY think if you have any complaints about the new coupons at target you should contact them. If many people do it might make a difference. I cannot print their new coupons and so I am going to call them. There is a lot of compitition out there for our money and I know target wants out money - if something they are doing will cause you not to shop at target or shop there less - TELL THEM.

Somewhat OT, but why can't I print Target Qs anymore?! I've installed their generator about 5 times & it still isn't working. Off to email them.

Oh, & the thing about boycotting them? It won't work. Let's face it; most people don't use coupons so this won't bother the majority of their shoppers. Target is hurting so badly they are trying to stop the discounts. However, it's shortsided because we all know that if there is a great deal it makes us go in there (& I always add an item or two).

This is annoying, to say the least.

Here's my opinion about what Target is doing...Target was started as a more "upscale" Wal-Mart...like a Wal-Mart/K-Mart for rich people. Target seems to see coupons as "beneath" them, but they have to offer them in light of the current economy. However, they hate it. I think that's why they make this so difficult. Target can say, "Hey, we offer coupons" so they look good, but that doesn't mean they actually want us to use them.

Sharon said...

I agree! Target isn't heading in a good direction. Did you notice that if you have reached your print limit on a coupon, it doesn't notify you until you print it - saying you've reached your household limit. Tell us BEFORE we print it so we don't waste ink and paper!

Target use to be my favorate coupon shopping store, but its fading FAST... =(

Rebecca said...

Figures, I just started couponing about a month ago, every time I get into something, the rules change. So, we can all just blame me! Ugh.

Anonymous said...

I didn't know about this and when I told the service desk that someof my coupons didn't come off my total, she gave me the difference in cash. But my target is super cool. But I bet this won't last long, they just don't understand there own rules yet.

Seriously, I am trying not to get depressed over this whole Target deal! I used to take my 14 mo. old with me once-per-week and she would snack and I would buy a popcorn and soda too. We had a fun thing going. YES, I would use coupons, but I would almost always add in a thing or two. Not any more. I can't print the new coupons and my husband said that there was no way that we were going to downgrade from Windows 7 just so I could print them. I totally agree. I am bummed. I think they want the couponers/discount shoppers to head elsewhere. I am so sad!

Mander said...

I don't know if I am going to ban Target completely, I will just pick and choose what I buy from there more carefully. I find this new coupons deal weird. I printed the canned veggies and dry stuffing coupon from the site last night and they were Target coupons. So, not sure why some are and some are not.

I was able to get in on the UP deal. I had my daughter price check the Blu Ray copy and sure enough, 19.99! I used the 10.00 coupon and walked out a happy customer.

SuzyQpon said...

I also think some of this was brought on by us. I mean how many free packs of baby wipes, cups of cereal, etc. before Target says "enough!" Well now we know! Ugh.

Anonymous said...

I agree I used to LOVE shopping at Target but this is getting ridiculous!

Anonymous said...

still like target a lot better than walmart. walmart doesn't let you print any coupons from their website. and when was the last time you saw a walmart store coupon? target has sales just as good, if not better sometimes than walmart.
i will continue to shop at my target as long as they accept coupons

Anonymous said...

i gave up target long times ago. My target always has problem with coupons i use. and the cashiers are very rude.

Anonymous said...

I agree that we should contact Target Corp. with our complaints. They may not change anything, but then again they might. Worth the try.

Unknown said...

I tried to print q's from the kiosk yesterday and they changed that --- now says this part of the website is not available from the kiosk... BOO!!

Anonymous said...

If you guys are willing to boycott Target over these coupon, you'll the miss the killer deals year around.

Colin really needs to do a better job of research before posting these deals. It's great to share these deals but there are too many problems lately. A little more research before posting would make everyone's life easier.

Paula said...

I just now sent an email to the Target Corporate office. I told them that I have shopped there for a long time (with & without coupons). Hopefully, if enough of us do this, they'll change something! I'll forgo Target all together if they keep acting like this!

Brandie said...

I still love Target -- it's a cool store with some really neat products. I love the kids' clothes and Method products, among other things.

I will just watch for sales and use my coupons there then. :)

BJ said...

I sent an email to them - everyone else should do the same.

Anonymous said...

Well, this makes sense to me. I mean, Target is in business to make money. It doesn't make sense to give stuff away for free. I know I'll still shop there.

Bawanab said...

My thoughts are to make a trip to Target and print several copys there using their ink and paper.
Yes I will still shop there but be picky to the cashier I go to.

Brandie said...

I also like that Colin posts deals/coupons/etc right away. I don't mind doing the research and finding out what works myself, especially since things can vary so much by area.

This site is an awesome resource and I would never know about these deals were it not for Colin's hard work.

Paula said...

Ditto on that, Brandi!

Natty said...

Oh for goodness sakes, Anon 11:20:00 AM, it's not Colin's fault. This is a blog...we aren't paying her to find coupons for us. Do you think she really has time to research everything for hours and hours before posting it? Come on! This is Target's problem, not her's.

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:20...whatever. She tries...it's not like this an exact science. And part of the reason we all like this site is because of the "breaking deals"...we all know that she often puts a disclaimer that sometimes the info she's given isn't accurate. So lighten up on her!

As far as target goes, I'm just going to sit back...I'm sure the kinks will all get ironed out eventually. :)

amanda said...

If you hate it , then DON"T FREAKIN SHOP THERE! They are there to make money, not to make sure you get as much as you can for free ;0

And I second that looking into these deals before posting them may help too. People run out and follow these deals without them being tested. Plus we already know that the Target stores are inconsistent.

Celeste said...

@Anony 11:20am: I wouldn't be so quick to blame Collin. She's already doing so much for us posting all the time. Isn't that kind of like looking a gift horse in the mouth? She's doing her best and can't be expected to print every coupon and try every scenario out there. Some research needs to be done for yourself in the field.

I for one consider the Target coupon changes to add another layer onto my frugal challenge. It's like reaching a new level in a game... something's going to be more difficult!

Anonymous said...

Nattie I agree, Collin works hard to find these deals. I run a very small site for local deals and it's difficult for me, I know it's a huge undertaking for a site that has millions of hits. Collin keep doing what you do because mean people suck and we all love your deals. Hiccups happen!

Btw I am going to add to the Target coupon dilemma...lol. The Greeting Cards Maufacturer coupon says only redeemable at Target in small print.... the others do not but check any new ones that come out guys.

Anonymous said...

To blame Colin is ridiculous! Seriously? I guess you should find these deals yourself and not rely on others if you get pissed when things don't work out. Show some appreciation.

Thank you for all you do!!

San said...

I think this is the same anon (11.20) who posted a rude comment yesterday.

Jessica said...

Just let you know, my Nabisco crackers coupon, Ritz crackers coupon and Command hooks coupon are all Target web coupons not manufacturer ones. I think Collin is doing a GREAT service to us. Thank you Collin!

Anonymous said...

Here's the thing...Target is making money regardless. They actually make more money by allowing couponing there because it draws in more customers. I always buy more than I mean to at Target, but the coupons used to draw me in. If I have Target coupons for cereal, chips, etc. then I'll shop there over another store where I don't have coupons for...so don't y'all go defending Target or blaming Colin. Trust me, Target isn't hurting...but they are hurting us and making a lot of people not want to shop there anymore.

Anonymous said...

Can I just say that I TOTALLY understand everyone's frustration....

Here is what I am frustrated about...

Target can defintiely go ahead and start limiting the number of prints on their store coupons. But for goodness sake, before you implement something so drastically different, couldn't you have one of your overly paid VPs or exexutives do a little more research? I mean they should have thought of problems they would encounter and telling us we've reached our print limit etc. well in advance of launching this new coupon printer thing.

I also think what is hard is that Target started off as a retail store, not a grocery store- so they are really behind with their system.

This is frustrating....

Cie said...

I usually don't comment on any of these message boards but it amazes me how so many people think/believe that these stores owe you something. You either get the deal or you don't. It's really that simple. Stores need to make money...otherwise they won't exist very long.

As far as Collin goes, I also have a blog for local deals, and it's not easy keeping up with everything.

Collin, thanks for all the deals you post, whether they work or not!

Anonymous said...

Send complaints?? Not very valid reasons, i.e. the ridiculous notions that you should all be able to run out and get their stock for near free or free! This is the only problem I have with couponing. Many of you have too much greed in your hearts, truly!

Anonymous said...

Stores don't owe us anything, but they should fight for our business. Getting people in the store is what keeps the stores open.

Anonymous said...

I am astonished that someone would call the couponers on this site greedy, but defend the stores. Nothing is more greed-filled than retail companies. Wow...really and truly astonished.

Anonymous said...

I am in "I HATE TARGET" mode right now...they have been HORRIBLE since the Leapfrog caterpillar deal. Think they would have gotten their stuff together before the biggest selling day of the year!! I''m not a Walmart shopper, but I'm thinking for this holiday..I might be going elsewhere including Walmart...

Anonymous said...

Really? Do we have to argue the same points every single day??

anon 11:20am and those that agree: us going out and trying the deal IS the research. That's why there is the comment section. If something does or does not work, we post it so everyone else will know.

Anonymous said...

Not greedy..we're just matching up the promotions that retailers put out there and with the coupons that are printed!!! If the retailer is getting upset about it, maybe their marketing department should do a little more research before putting out the advertisement! Especially price matching!!

I agree that there needs to be a way to tell if the coupon is a manufacturer coupon or a Target coupon...however, I think everyone is being a bit hard on them. The Target printables were being abused. Coupons are not supposed to be reproduced yet there were target coupon generators all over the place. They were also probably not doing well with people being able to print unlimited copies. Think about it from a business standpoint. And be thankful for all the deals you have gotten!!

Anonymous said...

Collin you're awesome, keep up the great work!

If you look at the couponsfrom Target, please read on the coupon if it say retailer u will know it is a manufacture and also on top of the coupon it says manufacture.

Hmmm.....

My Wal-Mart never gives me a hard time AND gives me overage (thanks to a short phone call with the manager after contacting corp). It is less than a 5 min. drive from my house.

My Target is constantly out of the items posted about. They have now refused to get more candle tins in for weeks on end, I've never gotten overage. I almost always end up having a "problem" using my coupons and now this?!? Um, it's just not worth my time to drive 30 mins. for that!

Anon 11:20 needs to get themselves in check...it's SO not Collin's fault that Target can't "get it right"!

P.S. If you don't like the deals that Collin rushes to get put up, then by all mean, PLEASE STOP READING!

Anonymous said...

It may be a repeat of some comments below, but the Q's at Target are mixed. I would use the coupon even if I could not stack it.
TARGET COUPONS:
Del Monte, Ocean Spray, Nabisco Triscuit, Ritz, Pop Secret, Pep farm stuffing, Pepsi, Ritz
MANUFACTURE Qs:
Uncle Bens, Disney multivitamin

I did not print any other Qs, so I cannot comment on those.

Hope that this helps someone.

Target in my area changed a while ago, they won't take more then 1 Target coupon, blah, blah, blah. I still shop there, but I just don't use Target coupons that much. You can still get some pretty good deals! Who cares if you can't get everything for free, even if I pay a reduced price i'm happy:) Every little penny saved helps! The whole coupon process is trial and error, some things work and some don't. I for one am not losing any sleep over this, another deal is right around the corner some place else.

Thanks Colin for all the hard work you put into to this blog!!You've helped me and many others save tons!!

Target is catching on people.. At mine ysterday they had a sign up in the coke isle.. They are having to limit the number of cases peole can buy to 12, b/c some peole can't control themselves apparently.. The stock lady said Monaday they had people coming in buying over 100 cases at a time!! KINDA REMINDS ME OF A SIMULAR LEAPFROG THING...Hmmm maybe self control ladies and these "changes" wouldn't have to be put into play!

So If you dont like it that she is human a may post something that in the end isnt what she thought it was then go else where!!! You are prob. one of the anan ones who keep posting neg comments but of course wont use your name!!! hmmmmmmm

Sorry i usually dont get involved in all this immaturity but seriously blaming the person wwho helps us so much! Grow up!

Anonymous said...

I think what Anon 11:20's point is, is that it would be easier for one person (Collin since it is her blog...which yes, she is getting paid to do- not by us, but by advertisers) to take the time to research the deals a little more, rather than 50 of us running out to the store to end up having wasted the time and gas money.

The downside to waiting longer, is that more of the deals will be gone before we even had a chance to know about them.

The solution to this being...if you are wary of a deal, then wait it out for a couple hours, check the comments to see if it worked, and then if it's still available- partake.

It is up to a business to decide how they want to run it and for their customers to either take it or leave it. This not only goes for Target and retail stores, but also for Collin. This blog is a business and she can choose to post deals right away and have them flop, like many have lately...or to wait it out and try herself first (which might mean less deals for us all)...but either way it's up to you to use their business or not.

Brandi you're so right. The haters are gonna be what they are regardless.
A lot of the problems are caused by people themselves. I live in northwest IN and my local Target is by far the best. NEVER have any problems using and stacking coupons. All of the managers are very customer friendly. Even a few times when a deal didnt go my way because of a mistake on my part they were very helpful in explaining what I did wrong and have even taken coupons and pushed them through when they shouldnt have taken. I always smile and am polite, even accepting when I am wrong instead of getting angry with them.
Just this past week ocean spray juice was on sale for 1.98 I wanted to stack the $1 target and the $1 man I had. I 30 mans, but was hoping to score 4 or 5 free w/coups. They had none on the shelf, so I asked manager when they would restock. He asked how many I needed. Told him about the coups and said I had 30 but was really just hoping to get a couple. Told me out of stock but had delivery coming in on Thurs(today) I told him not to bother cuz target Q expired on tues. I got the call this morning from him and he said he had 5 cases (6 in each case) for me and to bring my man Q's with me. He accepted my expired target Q and man Q's on them all and rang up 30 Ocean spray juices using Q's for a total of $0.00. Then even had someone help load them in my car for me. The only emails I ever send to corporate is telling them how much the Valpo store and their employees are great to do business with. Wasn't trying to be greedy and break the bank and got rewarded with 30 free juices and healthy kidneys for the next 6 months :)

Collin, you rock as well. Been unemployed for 8 months now trying to survive off unemployment and savings. Thanks to you we are able to still survive and make ends meet with a little effort on our end after you get us pointed in the right direction. You've taught us a whole new way of living. I plan on still being a couponer after I go back to work. More money in the bank. Thanks!!!

By the way, I'm a 40 MWM, 6', 240lbs, shaved head, tattoos, construction worker. Not someone you expect to see carrying a folder of coupons with me every where. Don't get too many remarks from people behind me in line when i pull out my stack of coupons. One quick look and a "Is there a problem?" usually is all I need. Maybe I have an advantage.

Mommycia said...

for anyone complaining about Colin not always being spot on- DONT read her blog, go out and find the deals yourself. We always get the deals before most people, if it works everyone is super happy. And if it doesnt, someone always jumps down her throat. Seriously...what do you loose when something doesnt go as planned? When all is weighed out, we DEFINATELY come out ahead because of Colin.

I'm so with everyone else in the fact that I'm done with target. Every time I go there I come home mad and tell my husband I'm done, but can't help going back if there is another good deal. And to anon 11:20 and Amanda seriously if you feel that way about this site, then stop reading and find your own deals and see how easy it is. This is my favorite site out of all of the sites I visit. Great job Collin!!!

target coupons say target web coupons you can use manufacturer coupons with them ... thats how we do it

Kristin said...

I just want to address some issues that have been bothering me for a while. I am a couponer and love getting a good deal. I was the person who made the cashier say, "you are using ALL of those coupons?" the other day. But let's be honest, there are people out there who try to abuse the system.

For all of you jumping on Anon 11:20, they never said it was Target's fault for not accepting coupons. Perhaps they meant that the coupons could have been read before being posted about.

And let's be honest, some people (a minority) are very greedy with the deals. Somebody posted about not being able to find the deals in store. Might it be because some people do go overboard? I have read about people on here saying that they bought 30 Glade candle tins. Or what about the people who rush into Target after Christmas and fill their carts with all the half off paper towels on the shelf, leaving none for anybody else. I see that one all the time. Very greedy.

Remember, the intent of coupons is not because the manufacturer or store wants to put more money in the consumer's pocket, it is to gain loyalty to MAKE money off of us. Okay, I am off my soap box and I will even post my name so you can openly chew me out. :)

I had a lot of problems trying to call target today - talked to 3 different people in another country - after spelling my simple name 3 times I gave up and wrote them a letter Address is target guest relations and quality assurance po box 9350 minneapolis, mn. 55440-9350

I love this blog. The only time I get upset at the blogs - not just this one is when they tell me about a great deal and use this coupon to get it and then you use your ink and get to the store and it's very obvious it won't work because the size offered on the coupon and the size on the pkg are different - you can go ahead and try in some stores, but yesterday I had a deal like that in walgreens and I know it won't work there. I think sometimes bloggers want to pretend they are the best and get the coupons out there and just get too much in a hurry to get out the deal. This site is the best one out there. I rarely get bad advice here and if I do - hip to save apologizes - that is so nice to hear her say I'm sorry. She is humble - isn't that great. I love this site.

Thanks to the lady at the target in concord, ca that was off work with an injury and shopping on a double coupon day and she and i visited and she told me about this site and i told her about some others, but when she told me about this site she really gave me great info. I just want to say hello to her.

I Heart Coupon Deals said...

I understand the suggestions of information being more reliable before posting, but honestly in the coupon world this is just not entirely possible. Is Collin suppose to leave her home when she finds a deal to run off and do it herself to be sure it works before posting?

There is no possible way to tell if the deal will work in all areas, etc. Was Collin suppose to print out every Target coupon to make sure they all stated Target and not Manufacturers coupon on them?

Let's be realistic here. I am thankful at how quickly she posts her deals and should everyone else. The fact that the information is not always correct is something that is worked out through the readers in the comment section. She posts the deals and everyone else helps bounce ideas around about the deal. Their personal experiences etc.

This blog would not be possible if both Collin and her support system (readers, friends, other blogs, etc) did not work together.

That is how this blog goes round.

I am thankful for all you do Collin and to think anything differently is doing a disservice to you with all you do and to all the readers on this site. On top of it all she has a family to take care of.

You and your hard work are very appreciated!

Ugh. Mean people suck. This is a great site, and deals get retracted and changed all the time even with perfect research. How many other blogs out there can you check every ten minutes and find something new? I don't know how in the world Collin does it, but I'm sure glad that she does.

I've not done a bunch with the Target deals in the past but have taken advantage of the cookie deal and the wipe deal. I don't blame target for imposing limits, but it is a bummer. I only mess with any deal if I can stockpile and not have to worry about buying that item again for a while. If I can only get two or three, then it isn't worth my time or gas money. I will always shop at target because I love their things, and they have the pharmacy coupons. I still have about ten wipe coupons left, so I guess I need to be checking in again to see if my store has restocked yet. Yep, I'm goingto get every last box that I'm able to. If anyone doesn't like it, feel free to send me cash so I can afford to pay full price.

Well, I agree with Rebecca 11:07 -- we should blame her! (I am JUST KIDDING!!!)

The Targets in my area are all great and have never given me any problems . . . I didn't even have to shave my head, get tattoos or grow 7" taller! So I'm going to send HQ an e-mail thanking them for all the recent good sales, and asking that they consider marking which coupons are theirs and which are manufacturers, and giving a screen response when we've reached the print limit, instead of wasting paper & ink.

As far as Collin & the blog . . . one of the reasons I love this blog so much is because it's so alive! When I started couponing a year ago, I accumulated about 15 different coupon blog sites in my favorites list to keep on top of deals. In a very short time I found that this site posted more deals, faster, and with more accurate follow-up than all of the others combined. Collin's readers are usually on the cutting edge of the really good deals and freebies. If that means there are a few times when deals don't work out . . . well, that's life.

Love this blog & all Collin does for us!

I called the CS line and spoke to a nice man about this so it was documented that Target is putting their trademark on a MF coupon (illegal). I encountred this this morning and then fought it and one at the store.

Tarin said...

To anon 11:20. YOU DO THE RESEARCH! Collin gives us her time and effort and that's what you have to say. Go to another site that "researches" better and when you eventually find out about a deal it will be to late to do anything about it cause the deal will be gone.
Colin has saved me loads in the last 3 months and this festive seasons will be much happier for me and those I know because of the work she puts in. I have 3 kids and work 40 hours a week. She does what I can't. So what if they don't always work. Get off your high horse!

wondering if the coupon hater is a Target exec???? A recent deal i have gotten twice. A cool new view finder toy was put in the regular viewfinder hanger( I assume this was because the worker was to lazy to make a new label). The sign read 4.99 it rang up for 16.99 i fought it. never should you pay more if it is labeled one price and rings up another. This is scanning fraud! Because store do not want to label each piece then they need to make sure their employees are doing things correctly. Do Not let them tell you it was a mistake! say I want it for the price it says. Then latter that week went into a different Target and saw the same toy with the same issue. So we got 2 cool presents for christmas. : )

Sorry, but some of us who clear the shelves are unemployed or struggling to make ends meet. If I get there at opening and take what I want and will ultimately need, too bad if you wander in at 5 pm and it's gone. Get there earlier and beat me there. It only takes 5 early birds to clear a shelf at 10 boxes of wipes each or whatever.

I know that sounds harsh, but it's not like the opportunity isn't there...sometimes other people are just faster than you. It's not always just one person.

And Collin is helping us. Go read another bargain blog if you don't like the way she runs hers.

FTR, my Target has, so far, accepted everything that says Targer and Manu as a Target q. I even asked the clerk. Is he wrong? Maybe. But that's not my fault.

Anonymous said...

Target usually does not challenge a price under $20. Sometimes people put things in the wrong spot, sometimes they are stocked there unintentionally. I assure you they are not purposely frauding labels just to make a buck.

Don't Target store coupons have "Target Coupon" printed on them and the "others" simply have a Target logo? I know they do that at KMART. Very frustrating!

I know that I get coupons that print out at Target that say "manufacturer's coupon redeemable at Target." It is very confusing as to whether this is a Target coupon or a manufacturer coupon. And just to clarify, this is not the one that prints out attached to your receipt, it is the other coupon printer that some stores have. I suppose I could just ask next time I am handed one.

This blog is by far the best one out there for the up to the minute latest deals and has literally saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars this year! It would highly disappoint me if Collin didn't post the deals as she saw them. She is doing all of us a great service, and if a deal doesn't work out, then as everyone always says on this website--another deal will come along. Collin gets a big thank you from me--she has totally changed the way that I look at buying things and watching prices. Our money goes so much farther than it used to!

A couple things to consider...

1. Target does not get reimbursed for their own coupons so it is in their best interests to limit the amount of times each individual can print them. This is often worked around by those that think they are entitled to more.

2. Lots of people are out of work using sites like this to try and get by.

3. Greed is Greed, shelf clearing stealing coupons lack of consideration to your fellow human beings. Those things are personal choice and I believe Karma will sort that out in the end.

4. All those who will not be shopping at target because they are now limited in the free or cheap items....Buh Bye I for one am glad to see yall go. Now maybe when I go to buy a candle tin I can get the coupon the manufacturer meant me to get, now shelfs wont be cleared and I certainly will no longer have to wait behind you in line while you argue why the store should take a coupon that you are not entitled to.
All this being said. I do not work for target (out of work like many others), and I am a veteran couponer. I am greatful for the deals I get and I will continue to shop at a variety of stores in order to maximize my savings. There tends to be 2 kinds of couponers. The first kind just wants to survive, happy for what they get and dont feel entitled but greatful for what they do get. The second type is greedy and justifies this as sticking it to a corporate giant (which is wrong cause the corp giant passes it to the consumer so really you just screwing other everyday folks). They get angry when you call them on their behaivor.
Side note:
Thanks for this blog it is one of my favorites and has allowed me to save alot of money.

Target is having growing pains right now. They are making some classic mistakes and will probably move on after learning about the situation.

Maybe they have a bunch of college grads running things in the upper echelons of business.

Personally I like the idea of Target limiting prints as it will give those who want to shop a fair chance at getting the items.

I haven't found UP&UP wipes since the first day the deal broke.

They made a very poor decision to change right before Black Friday. I wonder what scared them so badly? Perhaps the Glade rolling? That doesn't even have anything to do with Target coupons though, so I suspect something else is going on.

For example, in the beginning that UP&UP coupon worked whether you actually bought wipes or not...tis the season for fraud for some people.

Unfortunately, the classic mistake is Target huring and/or offending its customers to fight the thieves. Any retail company should now that's a fatal mistake.

@Jennifer - I am one that said I may stop shopping there simply for the fact that it feels like Target is trying to give the appearance of giving great deals without actually having to do it anymore. I am not a shelf raider nor do I feel entitled, but I don't like to waste my time/gas/money. So....there's my 2 cents worth.

Thanks, Colin! I absolutely LOVE your blog and have turned quite a few people onto it! :)

Im a front end supervisor at a Super Target. Im the one who gets called over when coupons beep. Im the one who decides whether to take the coupon or not. I make the decision. And to make this clear I use target coupons stacked with a manufacturer coupon all the time, plus my employee discount. Target dosnt mind. Lately i've experienced a couple of people coming up to check out 5 to 10 minutes after we have closed the store with 2 carts full of what you can tell are great coupon deals. When my cashier finishes ringing them up, the total ranges from 400 hundred to 600 hundred dollars and then hands over like 200 coupons. All of them beep and at the end they end up paying under 100 dollars. Thats ridiculous. Im all for a good deal because we dont lose money from couponers. We recieve all our money back for them. But to abuse and wipe out shelves daily, is unfair and rude to other people that want to grab just a couple of things. Maybe if people didnt do that, they wouldnt have changed the coupon system that just launched.

Anon(11:52). The issue is time for everyone and legality for Colin. If she post deals suggesting wrong coupons or so (unintentionally of course), it takes one of these large retailer to become pissed off and shut her down.

Anon (11:20) is right for this reason alone. Many see that comment as a shot at Colin. It's not. It's wise advise to be very careful.

Some of you people are nuts.

Colin, it's a great site. You're funny and entertaining and the information you share is incredibly valuable. We're all thankful for the hard work that you do. If something doesn't work, it doesn't work...the fact is that most DO work. You're running a business here and doing a darn fine job of it. Just like any other business, if folks aren't happy with what's posted here, they can go elsewhere.

This is probably overstating and it certainly won't make me any friends, but this sort of lack of personal responsibility is exactly what's wrong with our society as a whole. Do your own homework, people! Take responsibility for yourselves!

@Sharon,
The print limit reached printing out as a coupon has nothing to do with Target. Rather it is the coupon printing company ecentives that they are using. Ecentives has always done this when you print coupons that they are the source of.

@Bawana,
your idea is great and I had it myself and I went to target and tried to print my coupons there, however they have disabled that feature and you can no longer do so. The link is still there it just won't access the coupon page. HTH

I have to agree with the Target sup. I get that free or cheap things are amazing deals. I get that people need things. What I don't get is clearing the shelves and going back to get more the next day. Not cool.

I'm all for everyone getting the deals, not just a few that have the time to go do the deals every day. I get it, if you are unemployed, you can really use the deals, but remember, there are others that are unemployed, too.

In Texas, HEB does that. I hate that Target has started doing that as well. Bummer...

I dont mind Target doing this... but they need to specify if whether it is a target coupon or manufacturer coupon...

Well said LeighAnn!! You are so right!

Why dont we start a thread to see how many people want to sign up for Target to specify if whether its a Target or a Manufacturer Q?

It's funny people are arguing here over the lack of deals. I am a 8+ year coupon users. Four years ago (before sites like these), deals were plentiful. CVS allowed super stacking and offered a month of free items each year. Target had great steals post-seasonal sales.

Due to the thousand of deal sites, the utter greed, and coupon theft, I only go after deals if I really want them. What most you seem to miss is the time factor.

Want to know how this game used to be? $200 worth of school supplies for $.25, free air conditioner, and $1 boxes of Glad garbage bags. Yes, you read it right.

It is easy to spot those who are spoon fed the deals and the pros. The pros are thrifty in every part of their life from grocery shopping to their vacations. Eventually the earlier will winnow away again once the economy picks back up.

AND no this is not a shot at this site or Colin in any mean or form.

College English Professor here. I'd love to do a research study about the people and comments. It is fascinating. Don't worry. It would be anonymous.

One of the problems noted with society is its isolation. We don't get to be with others. This blog is an amazing look into how and what people feel and their interaction with others.

I have always loved shopping at Target. However, as the economy has weakened, I had to find ways to save. I shifted my grocery shopping to Wal-mart because it was simply cheaper overall.

However, a few months ago when I spotted the info that Target allowed a person to match a Target coupon with a manufacturer's coupon, I went back. Mine was not so much a boycott as that I was already at Wal-mart buying groceries so it was just easier to pick up toiletries and so on there or at CVS or Walgreens.

This matching got me back in the store. I looked at clothes and others things again.

Now, I feel like in the midst of a Target war. The rules change daily. There is no consistencies and it is difficult to plan shopping.

I think it is good that there are limits on coupons. I also think that the responder who mentioned that if you want something, you have to get there early is probably right. None of us would expect to get a Black Friday special without being one of the first in line.

I am puzzled by one comment. It would be interesting to not just vent, but air this in a forum. The manager at my Target told me that Target gets reimbursed from the manufacturer for Target coupons. Can anyone do some serious research on this?

Also, the problem with Target coupons versus manufacturers coupons needs to be resolved.

Target seems to be learning as they go. This is causing all of us frustration. Why doesn't someone copy all of these comments in a word document and mail them to Target corporation.

Let's be specific about our concerns and how these changing coupon policies waste our time. These are legitimate concerns.

I'm a Leap Frog Catepillar gal. I got one for my grandchild. I needed to be frugal this year. My husband lost significant income because of state budget cutbacks, yet I went early knowing I would likely not get one. I also tried to follow all the rules. Target clearly did not know what their own policy was.

I'm still concerned about the semantics of "timed sale." What does this mean. While they gave us examples, isn't a weekly ad the same thing? A timed sale. Let's push them for clear definitions with a request to quit wasting our time.

Anonymous said...

I just read about 20 of these comments and have to say we couponers are very passionate people. I for one an extremely grateful to this site since living with one income for quite a while. I totally do not expect to be able to get every single deal listed on the site. I consider them guidelines and feel very lucky if I can get them. I go out with my shopping list, coupons and printout of the blog. If I don't find one of the deals listed - no problem - I go on to the next one. So what if I don't get cereal for 50 cents, the deals I am able to get more than make up for it. And I could not do it without this site. This is a free service to all of and we all should be grateful, not hurtful!!

I Heart Coupon Deals said...

I am in favor of the limit I think it was needed to prevent fraud this year although whats not to say these people won't just go out and copy the coupons. Doesn't take rocket science especially since the barcodes are all the same. But those people are responsible for the manner in which they conduct their lives.

The thing that I hate about this change is the fact that they are using Ecentives. The way they set their coupons to print is terrible! The fact that if you try to print a 3rd coupon instead of stating that you have exceeded the limit it actually prints that out in the form of a coupon. Waste of ink and paper.

Luckily I have set my computer to PREVIEW so I can see what is to print before it goes to the printer, that way I can cancel the print if need be.

Lastly, they print coupons out ONE PER PAGE. Again, waste of paper and ink. I hope they reconsider and maybe use Bricks instead.

They are holding this item for me at customer service. I didn't even ask -- they offered to do it.

Totally agree with Jennifer and the Target sup. I also agree with Anon 11:20. Lots of people want to dismiss acts of greed by talking AROUND it and trying to justify it. For example, saying that 10 of something may be a lot to someone and 40 of something not a lot to someone else, so there's no way to put a universal label on what constitutes "greediness". Bah! There is a HUGE difference between 10 and 40! Also, there DOES need to be more research on the site owner's part. Before anyone labels me a hater, I'm extremely appreciative of this site, and yes it has helped saved me lots of money. But I think some of you are failing to realize that this site is a JOB for Collin. She makes MONEY off of this site. It's more than just a "hobby" and "an act of kindness". If I worked a job, and didn't do my research, then affected others in a negative way, hmmm... don't think that would fly so well! Plus, with all the kids and real life responsibilities she has, do you think Collin really researches all of these deals herself? She doesn't have the time! She gets a lot of info from emails that are sent to her, so in reality, others are doing the work for her. I'm just saying, before all of the sheeple rush to defend and gush over Collin, be realistic!

Anon 11:20- Collin posts great deals DAILY! Sometimes there is a problem that is COMPLETELY OUT OF HER HANDS! I can not believe anyone would even blame her!!! Collin- if you are reading this- THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK! OUR FAMILY GREATLY APPRECIATES YOUR TIME, EFFORTS & OUR SAVINGS!!! I would NEVER be this successful with coupons without YOU!.....Sometimes stores change the policies over night which makes a previous deal she posted no longer valid. For instance the whole Target price match policy change! I was able to get the toy for .49, not without a fight. I told them to show me the policy excluding doorbusters- they couldn't! So they honored it, a couple days later Target officially changed the policy online. I am BUMMED about Target & all of the coupon problems. I do a majority of coupon shopping there. Yesterday I had issues stacking a Target B1G1with a Manf B1G1- no one could comprehend that Target covers one & Manf covers one- they told me I would have to buy 3?!? Never had this problem before! I had them call Corp there & even the guy on the phone wasn't getting it. SO I wrote an email, talked to a guy from corp & again he didn't know. I need to talk to a "Target Guest Specialist"! So now I have to call in AGAIN! The manager/supervisor at the store told me that you CAN stack a Target & a manf coupon per item BUT as long as the Target coupon doesn't give me a DISCOUNT! Hmmmm the last time I checked isn't that what a coupon is- a discount? Sighhhhhh! I think EVERYONE needs to contact corp- tell them you are having trouble printing, also they need to show "print limit reached" so we do not waste ink, specify a TARGET coupon from Manf coupon, & ANY coupon using problems you are having! TOGETHER we can help motivate Target to improve! Write a quick email now! ;) Sorry this is a LONG post!

#1- Ever heard of spell check?

True, Target doesn't get reimbursed for their store coupons, but because they are ALWAYS more expensive than Walmart, then they should be grateful that people chose to shop at their store over Walmart. They owe it to us...plus, research shows that if people go shopping, they want to it all at one store (so Target makes profit by drawing us in their store with their coupons). Do your research first.

Sorry but clearing a shelf (which I actually don't do) is not necessarily greed. Some people do DONATE things to others. Perhaps you keep all of your stuff for yourself. Now isn't that selfish and greedy! At least I donate!

I do love the cheap and free items at Target, but along with those free items I am also buying things at full price. Therefore I don't feel bad getting things for free. Just because I am smarter than the average person and can get more deals doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to get them because others are too dumb.

Anonymous said...

If your clearing the shelves day after day, I doubt they are donating. Im the Target sup. They conduct coupon fraud. They buy tons of product with coupons and then come the next day and return the product for full price. So if you donate. Good for you. But I highly doubt that people donate their free product in this economy.

I think the print limit on Target coupons may be a good thing in the end. It levels the playing field at least... If they had such a policy to begin with, then we wouldn't all be fighting on how many baby wipes other couponers got. Just something to think about...

You're actually wrong. People cannot get products for free and then return for a full refund. I used to work at Target, and know the return policy. You are only allowed ONE return per YEAR with a drivers license. How in the world would the person behind the desk NOT scan the receipt and show they got it for free? That means NO refund. Sorry people returning stuff can't help idiotic workers

I can understand Target wanting to limit the prints of coupons, but...there are several things you can't tell about these coupons until after you have printed them:
1. Exp. Date
2. Target or Manu
3. Full Detail of offer
4. Print limit reached
I would be happy if they could just fix the above mentioned issues.

Just asking...

Target Sup said...

@ anon 3:51...
No ur wrong. That is the return polic if the guest does not have a receipt. If they return with their recipet they get full refund evenif they used coupons. and since you have wored there. That policy has even changed. And it has never been 1 return with ur drivers license per year. Its 2. And now its unlimited up to a 70 dollar mark in one year. And even if the " idiotic" worker behind the counter seen that they got it for free. We cant refuse the return because they have a valid reciept and target gets reimbursed for coupons. So refusing a refund to them would be profiting more money off our guests. Which we dont do.

With that said, I went to Target this morning with old and new coupons and I had NO problems whatsoever... I saved over $50! What I don't like is when cashiers leave coupons out or get mixed up with things and I don't get my complete deal. It annoys me, but I don't want to be more of a bother by arguing that, "I don't think you scanned that one..." And Target receipts are WAY to hard for me to understand what cost what. That's all...

Target Sup said...

Agreeing with Candice. Some Cashiers are to much in a hurry and dont catch the beep where it stops them and they continue to scan the next one without clearing the screen where it stopped them in the first place. Especially with the holiday season and all the new cashiers. They will get the hang of it soon. 50 bucks is an amazing savings! Great Job!

For instance, not all prices or coupons match, due to region. It is not her fault. Even if she makes money, how much money do you think she is making, coupons takes too much time out of my life as is, but well worth it, and I am so grateful Collin and others make it easier for us.

The online coupons I printed for the same item, usually two is the limit, have different barcode numbers, so you can point that out to the cashiers, if they accuse you of copying.

I do not get upset when I miss a deal b/c someone else might have snatched them all up. Really, there are times, when there are items left, and I was the last one to get three.

I cannot get all the deals that appear...it is impossible. And I am happy for those who can get great deals, while following the rules. I am pretty sure you will still be able to get good deals at Target amidst their coupon policy or generator.

Thank you Collin, for your dedication and hard work for all of us to get great deals!

i just noticed on the "target" greeting cards small print it DOES NOT say that the company will be reimbursed 8c handling. I looked through several of my manufacturers coupons and they all say it or say refer to specific manufactures redeem policy.

Glade tins. I scored 10 with 10 refills for 16c each. Target will be reimbursed 14.50 for those plus 8c for each coupon.

They make money on deals we use manufactures coupons. 50-90% mark up in retail. 30-50% on food.

I am glad target put a limit. Keeps them even with all the other coupon sights out there. They do need to fix the bugs though. I've had no problem but I use firefox.

I believe in stocking up when I can get stuff free or close to free. How many my family will use before the item expires determines how many I will buy. From 2-30. Plus I donate items after I give stuff to friends that are out of work or low income. I wish people would remember if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all. I LOVE this sight. Collin is amazing, humble and sweet. It hurts me to see people being so mean to one another. Love is a wonderful thing to share.

Wow, it's obvious that couponing can really spark a lot of controversy! I've been an avid couponer for a year now and love to take advantage of a great deal. However, I look at the posted deals and decide which ones I'll do, and which ones don't appeal to me. Some couponers have practicies I don't agree with, but I just simply choose not to do them, rather than judging the couponer or complaining about it. I appreciate bloggers taking the time to let us know about deals and even potential deals. There is no way we can expect a blogger like Colin to try EVERY deal to know whether it will work. Plus, a deal that works for one person may not work for another, so there's always that "your mileage may vary" issue. Sometimes I just wish people wouldn't speak their minds if they just have negative stuff to say.

As far as changes in Target go, I think I'll just be patient and wait for the dust to settle. The same thing happened with Walgreens when they stopped doing their monthly rebate program. We all freaked out a little, but now that some of the wrinkles have been ironed out we can still find lots of great deals.

Thanks, Colin, and keep up the good work!

And they act like your stealing from them! They kept telling me they could not give out gift cards for free items well when did it become my issue they were doing an in store promotion and I wanted to use my coupons!!!

Oh then she said they were no longer accepting their own coupons from the toy book lol and you can't use a manufacturer coupon with a target you can't use 2 coupons for 1 item and I even had their coupon policy printed out from hips page!

I went to another Target today and had no problem doing the Glade deal. I wish Target would get their act together!

I think one of the reasons Target started issuing Store Coupons is to get people to shop in their store. They are losing all their "grocery" business to Wal-Mart and Kroger/Safeway stores, because they are cheaper.

So even if Target issues a SQ, then you can use a MFQ on top of that, they really aren't losing any money. They are gaining business, even if it means taking a little more off your total by using that SQ.

For example, you could go to Wal-Mart (where items generally are cheaper than Target), use the MFQ...or even Kroger, where coupons D/T

But then Target says, "oh no you dih-nt." We want your business, so we'll offer you additional savings by using our store coupon.

Target is still getting paid by the manufacturer for your purchase. As far as the Target coupon - some money is better than no money. A lot of people get groceries at Target because they can use that store coupon.

Brandie said...

I am confused as to whether Target still allows the use of both store and manufacturer's coupons.

Tonight I used the Target q and a manufacturer's q on Ritz crackers.

The register did not like me using both and the girl ringing up my purchases told me I couldn't use both on one item.

I told her that it was allowed so she let me -- fixed it manually.

Since the system didn't want to let me, does that mean they no longer allow this?

Even if your print limit is reached on the computer...remember you can still print them at the store. I don't think there is a limit there. Unless they changed it since last Sunday when I went.

Anon 3:34, if more people were as good at their jobs, and had so few errors, our shopping experiences (among other things in our lives) would vastly improve.

anon 7:12 lol that was funny!!!

I mad a mistake earlier. 10 glade tins and 10 refills not 14.50. Target will get back 29.00 + .80 for all for handling. So I would say they are getting back cost maybe even a little over for them. So not bad.

The scrubby bubbles deal. I paid .25 each after gift card and target got 1.00 from me and 4.00 from coupons. So only 50% off. So they are still making money on these as well.

Said all that just to point out they don't lose money on a lot of the deals. Some yes but not all. A lot of stores run at a loss on milk, soda, etc. all the time to get you in the doors. Just food for thought.

Fran-thanks, I always used my Google account and never looked there.

Collin's gonna have to shut down comments soon...this may never end.

As for the comment regarding donations...I have actually started donating stuff since I can get it cheap or free. We have been jobless here too and we feel the crunch, so it feels good to be able to help out other people who are feeling it too.

Karma does keep it's word.

Is very easy to sit down in front of a pc and copy/paste match-ups every week with any effort and complain. Why don't sit down do your own match-up and think for a change.

What's wrong with people, why can people use their brains this days and go about life expecting for others to do there jobs. And in top of that criticize with any regrets.

Grow up! and stop acting like kinderkids "Oh misses, misses target won't let me wipe the store bujuu, bujuuju"

Why can we be happy with the limit of each.

I have enough wipes now to wipe all your whining, complaining baby noses.
Stay off the blog if you've got any gripes or complaints and go plan your own deals if you think it's so easy....Target is not the beginning nor the end of the couponing world.
Plead your stinkin'case to them, I'm sure your innocence will shine right through :0..."oh yes I did!"
Gobble, gobble, gobble

9:28: Our Target kiosk says "This area no longer available" when I tried to print. So I don't think you can print them at the store anymore.
I have seen those who were printing 20 copies of the coupons and emptying the paper out of the machine. Could be why?

After trying for what has seemed like forever to get those Santa Mr. Potato heads, I went to Target yesterday and they finally had them. But get this...THEY RAISED THE PRICE! They are now $6.99 instead of $5.99. Seriously, why?! I completely passed them by. I'm getting a little annoyed with Target and their price hikes lately. I'm sorry it's OT but I thought it might help someone else that was waiting to get them with their coupons!

I was finally able to print the new Target coupons using IE instead of the AOL browser. I'd like to print more than 2 per item but at least now it shouldn't be a hassle gettting cashiers to take multiple coupons for the same item - if we're allowed to print 2, we should be able to use 2. I don't buy much at Target, I just do the best deals. My Target doesn't usually have the low prices that I see posted on blogs, so I can usually get items for less at other stores. That said, I am off to Target today to get Dew, Wet Ones, cat treats and candles. Should get some good buys.

To anon 3:48 - Don't be too quick to doubt or assume! Regardless of the economy, LOTS of people still donate to the less fortunate. There is a whole group of couponing ladies, not a formal group, just people who use coupons, who donates TONS of items every month. In fact, I, myself, take a mini-van load to one particular innercity outreach program once a month. However, I can do this WITHOUT clearing shelves.

Oh, and I love Colin's blog! Hip to Save! is one of the places I check everyday! I can always count on finding things no one else has.

And as a blog-owner myself, as many of you are, yes we do get kickbacks from advertisers but it in no way compensates for our time and heart. I didn't start my blog to make money, I started it as a service to others and that takes precidence over all else. But we are not perfect.

Yes, I've enjoyed the blessing of couponing with way more than I need and quickly realized that I can bless the less fortunate.
Most everything I do, is done with integrity and out of unselfish motives. (which takes practice and know one is perfect)
No manipulation of the system to gain, no dishonesty or stealing
irrespective of the value; a coupon, a pen, etc..), or exploiting the employees lack of training which risks their employment,(did you ever wonder why you choose a particular cashier to go to?)
All this and more I do with a good clear conscience before the One who sees every thing and knows every thought and intention.
I've legally and legitimately (partially) cleared shelves and have donated 95% of it all and will continue to do so.
I've arrived to cleared shelves and pouted for a bit, but moved on to the next sale without harboring bitterness towards someones else's gain for that particular day. Like most, I'm frustrated by those who operate with selfish deceptive motives and sadly, it usually flows throughout all areas of their lives. However, the world is loaded with these types of people, giving us many opportunities to be bitter ourselves, but rest assured knowing that everyone will be accountable for their actions through out life and it's not ours to fret about but God's alone.
Always do whats right.

Well I went to target and in I will not tell you what town MO today and bought 60 packs of wipes today.. Paid .48 cents a pice for them. I do not care who agrees with me buying 60 packs of wipes I need them for my kids and that is that. Spent 30 on wipes and it will hold me till the next wipe deal happens. Not to mention that I still have like 60 wipe coupons and since they do not expire till 12/5 maybe I will just pick up some more..

Maybe the Target Kiosks have Windows 7 and that's why they won't print coupons anymore. HA!

Anonymous said...

Oh yah, I just printed the Del Monte & Nabisco coupons, and they all say "Target Web Coupon".

I see a Huggies coupon on the target website. Anyone know if this is a target or manufacture coupon?? I'm guessing manufacturer or someone would have mentioned stacking this deal already :(

hmmm...so can we remember that THANKSGIVING is coming next week? (that means it is the time of year we give thanks, not complain if something is not going your way)
