Ten Thousand Villages: FREE Shipping Code!

Have any of you heard of TenThousandVillages.com before? I hadn't until recently. Ten Thousand Villages is a great site for unique, handmade gifts, jewelry, home decor and personal accessories from artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Thru today, 12/15 ONLY (sorry for posting this so late), you can score FREE shipping on any order by using coupon code MOSAIC or if you spend $100, you'll score FREE shipping (no code needed) and then you'll be able to use code SHARE to get an additional 20% off! Please keep in mind that you can NOT stack both codes.

I LOVE jewelry... especially unique pieces, so I was excited to come upon this Beaded Cuff Bracelet priced at $18! Isn't it gorgeous?! They also have lots of clearance items available here.

Let us know what you find!

(Thanks, Laurie!)

Also, ten thousand villages sends all it's profits back to the third world country it came from. It's non profit with volunteers that run the stores.

Off topic... but the snobby women who left comments about the soda bottle gift idea are stuck up.
Maybe you women need to find a higher power and pray you get your tight az panties out of the wad their in. I would hate to be your husband or on your list at all. B/C christmas/holidays aren't about gifts anyway! What on earth must you be teaching your poor children. Pathetic!!!!!

This is a wonderful company and I've been to their store in Cambridge. Everything is well made and very cute. Like Anon said you can only use one code, but their prices are really reasonable and all the profits go to charity, so I prefer paying the "full" price anyway. Thanks for posting this.

I absolutely LOVE 10,000 villages. We have a store locally, and it is the perfect place to shop for gifts. Last year I got my nieces the coolest earrings made from soda can tabs! Truly adorable--they loved them.

really? The soda bottle post got taken down because of people being rude. That is MESSED up. I love Sarah and her Athriftymom blog. She has strong values and belives in being as thrifty as possible. I thought it was a great idea. Do the soda with a plate of cookies and there ya go. It would be perfect! People need to grow up. Losers.

People keep it up and the comments are going to be closed and we'll lose out on so many great deals. If it's not your thing then just walk away...there are a lot of other blogs out there to read.

I love this site! It's really empowering to save money!! :)

Collin PLEASE put the bottle post back up! Don't let the jelous, rude, selfish people win! I loved the idea!

Yes I agree, keep the soda post up! I thought it was a lovely idea. If I was lucky enough to snag some extra soda on the cheap I totally would give them out as gifts. I'd also be very happy to receive such a thoughtful, useful and pretty gift.

Okay, I was trying to find the cute blog about the bottled drinks and it looks like it has been TAKEN OFF. Geesh people, wake up and smell the coffee~! We are all different and just because you might think it is a 'cheap' gift doesn't mean you have to do it or ruin it for the rest of us! It is a shot at Collin too b/c obviously she thought it was a good/inexpensive enough idea to post it in the first place and from the LOOKS of it, the negative comment people seem to be in the minority anyway! So, just overlook it if it does not float your fancy and give some credit for people just thinking of others and going out of their way to do so. Time and lots of effort is put into things like this and home-made gifts so if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all! The season is about GIVING! And the thought that counts. I'll go one further, JESUS is the reason for the Season! He gave His life, the Ultimate Sacrifice! Now, that's a gift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the author of the soda idea is pregnant. I certainly don't want to see her endure undue stress. Maybe that's why it's gone. However, most of the comments were positive.

Collin, please put that post back up, don't let small people like that win, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the gift idea, and i am sure people would appreciate the creativity and thoughts behind it. Only people that don't understand the spirit of Christmas and giving would make such hateful comments.

by the way...if people are so concern about it being a soda, don't forget you can also wrap it around a bottle of DOM PERIGNON...lol

That soda bottle will be a hit for all your New Years Eve Parties !!! Thats just right around the corner and those decorated soda bottles would look really cool at our parties. You could get creative and put peanuts and popcorn in them WOW that would save you a bowl to wash and you could just toss it out when your done or wash it until the next event !!! Just use your imagination like the nice lady did who shared her ideal with us. If you dont like her ideal then just go on to the next good deal Collin works too hard sharing her awesome deals for those of us being negative. Lets just be grateful for the season. Thanks Collin.

Wow, I also can't believe the rude comments about the soda. It was something fun to do with her kids. Who cares if its a frugal gift! She spent time with her kids putting it together and it was super cute! I'd appreciate it if someone gave it to me because its adorable and I don't even drink soda. Shame on you who put it down.

Did anyone try to purchase over $100 with success at using the SHARE code? I was able to use the code but then it charged me shipping. Please let me know if anyone was able to get free shipping (because you spent over $100) AND use the 20% off code.
P.S. Ten thousand villages is an awesome site- I love that we are helping people in other communities while still being able to do Christmas shopping! Thanks Hip2Save!

WOW Collin you have great taste!
That cuff bracelet is so hot! I tried to order it but it said item is unavailable =( glad you got in on the deal at least =)

What's all this drama about the soda bottle? I must've missed it all... LMAO 'Smart Couponing'! Dom! Haha
The haters can try to front like they have Cristal $$. If they really did they wouldn't be on this site would they? Remember it's not about how much $ you make but how much you spend. Collin you're amazing! Eff all the haters ;)Don't hate b/c you have to buy ppl's affection whereas the rest of us have ppl around us who realize it's the thought that counts and love us even if we give them soda bottles gifts =)

Ten Thousand Villages's store is in my hometown of Goshen, In. It's a great store with many beautiful things to buy. It's a great way to help poor people in other countries.

I just ordered the bracelet and used the code SHARE and it worked for 20% off. And it's the 16th!

For all those who wrote a snotty comment about the soda...

Have you forgotten that you're reading a thrifty blog? You guys are quick to take advantage of all the freebies and deals that are posted here, but you snub your nose at a thrifty gift idea(a gift that was meant to be thoughtful)? That mom took the time out of her busy day to make 40 of those beautifully made bottles to give to others!

I love Ten Thousands Villages!

I just wanted to clarify that Ten Thousand Villages is not a charity. It is a fair trade retailer. They sell handcrafted products for a competitive price here in the US, but all profits go back to the artists and craftsmen (women), most of whom are living in 3rd world countries. I am also fairly certain the employees are paid and not volunteers. The profits would imply after all expenses(such as wages, rent, utilities, shipping costs...). There are 2 stores here in Cleveland and a few others I am aware of in the state. Check it out if there's one in your area and you have some extra money to spend it is a very cool store!
