Do you need a Good Laugh?

Remember the Omaha Steaks deal I posted yesterday?
Well, as some of you know, they canceled our orders. Lots of your wrote letters to Omaha Steaks expressing your disappointment. Ashley over at ShoppingFrugal also wrote a letter, actually I guess I should say that her hubby wrote the letter for her. Anyway, I found it hilarious and just had to post if for all of you to read:

Dear Omaha Steaks,

It is with great sadness that I received your e-mail regarding my free 2lb. ham. When I initially placed my order this morning, I was filled with a sense of awe and wonder, as if standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon. Some people only dream of receiving a free ham at their doorstep; today that dream, my dream, had seemingly become a reality.

But the winds of fortune can sometimes be unkind. And with one cold, cruel mouse click, everything had been taken away from me. There is an overwhelming sense of emptiness that comes with knowing there will be no knock at the door signaling the arrival of an intricately packaged pig product.

What does not kill us, only makes us stronger. And so I will cope as best I can, finding solace within the reliable aluminum walls of a can of Spam. Hormel may be the bridesmaid never destined to be a bride, but its preservatives and steadfast availability, continues to comfort me like a loyal companion.

Disappointed Dreamer,

Ashley

I Love how we can make dissapointing situations so funny!
Thanks Ashley and hubby for the laugh!

That is pretty funny! They did the same thing a few months ago with the $25.00 in credit. I have not ordered from them since! They seem to just use a bait and switch scheme to get customers to order....sad they have to do this to get business.

omg, that's hilarious!

I was probably one of the very few who actually got the FREE steak hamburgers a while back.

I don't think Omaha Steaks is a very reputable company - JMO. I have a friend that worked for them and said their practices were pretty awful - all about the almighty $ - no concern for employees or customers. I actually didn't order the other day only b/c I ordered a gift from them once before and they INUNDATED with me mail and calls for YEARS afterwards. It was ridiculous!!! I begged and begged to be removed from their lists but it took a LONG time to be heard! I think they use these bait and switch promos to get people's info. Again, JMO!

If I were the CS manager, I'd send them a "free pig product" just for making me laugh!

Bummer about the orders (I didn't place one). If you go to www.ripoffreport.com and search "Omaha Steaks" you'll find some interesting reads.

As for the letter, I love it! I hope this guy is a stand up comedian cause he's pretty funny. Thanks for sharing!

I guess I'm the odd one out, last month I used $20 credit with free s/h promo and got 8 burgers and 8 sour cream coffee cakes for $2.99 OOP. They did make good on the deal and mailed it out. You win some you lose some..that's the game!

Thats a great letter! I cant wait to hear what their response is.
