Walgreens: 4 Day Special Ad 8/19-8/22 + *Hot* $5 Register Reward Deal!

I just wanted to give you all a heads up that Walgreens will have a 4 day special ad available starting on 8/19 and running through 8/22! The best part about the ad... well, it states spend $25 (on practically anything in the store) and receive a $5 Register Reward! YAY! Remember that the $25 total can be BEFORE manufacturer coupons are used, so it should be fairly easy to get up to the $25 amount and then lower it quite a bit with manufacturer coupons and Register Rewards!

Another great deal that I noticed is the Extra Strength Tylenol. It will be on sale-- buy one at $4.49 get one FREE! Use two $2 coupons from the 6/21 SmartSource coupon insert and you'll only pay .49 for 2! Also, the Bic highlighters (5 packs) will ONLY be .39. Use the $1/2 Bic coupons from the 8/9SS to score lots of FREE highlighters.

As we get closer, I will post some deal scenarios to go along with the $5 Register Reward deal! To get prepared, though, you may want to go check out all the Walgreens weekly deals and see if you can come up with any scenarios. The best thing to do is purchase items that will generate Register Rewards. That way you can keep "rolling" the Register Rewards you receive, which will in turn help you spend very little out of pocket!

(Thanks, IHeartWags!)

Walgreens on my area are now imposing 1 RR / transaction only. Can you believe it? I cannot use more than 1 RR of any amount per purchase. Hey, if they want to make difficult to shop there, during a deep recession, fine with me. I have several other places to shop.

If you buy

2 Neosporin Products
4 Velveeta Shells & Cheese Cups

your RR = $16

Anon--Before you go in next time, contact corp. If you can't get thru before you want to go back, have them call corp WHILE you wait. I bet they will take them all!! Good luck!

My Walgreen's will no longer let you use 2 coupons on B1G1 sales. Only one for the one you are paying for! Dang it.

Yesterday, I received a $3 off $15 purchase register reward by buying my prescription. This was a nice surprise!

I have had major issues with Walgreens as well -- from RR's not printing, to them not taking 2 coupons on a B1G1, to them just being plain rude because of all of the coupons. It does no good to contact corporate because all they do is refer it to the store manager who calls and says too bad. I've quit going there. CVS is more than happy to have my business!

I am also a little frustrated with Walgreens...they told me to day taht I could not pay for an item with a RR and still get the RR from the item I am buying. ??I have done it before, is this new? Does anyone have any ideas? Was I simply lucky before using RR to pay for soemthing that earns a RR.

Casey and Kimberly - normally you will not get a RR if you are using the same product that you got the first RR from. If I get a RR from Dial but want to then use it in my purchase for Ketchup it should work, I hope that make sense.
Here is a question for the RR- after purchasing $25 worth of items I get $5.00 but if I purchase $100 worth of stuff will I get 4 $5.00 dollar RR?

Ok-here's a thought on how to use this deal....since I need to stock up on baby wipes....buy 9 pkgs of Huggies Wipes at 2.79 each ($25.11 plus tax). Use the $2 back to school coupon (save $18)and use 9-50 cents off coupons from the paper (save $4.50) this last weekend.....pay $2.61 plus tax out of pocket and get $5 reg. rewards... ok, Walgreens experts--would this scenerio work???

Can you do multiple $25 purchases/transactions and get $5 for each transaction???? So the $25 is before coupons and reg. rewards, right????

Does anyone have problems with Walgreens not having the register rewards items stocked on the shelves when the sale starts on Sunday? It seems like I go there Sunday am,and they rarely have many of the items?

I think my Walgreens has already started the $5.00 RR/when you spend $25.00. I made a purchase of $26.00 and received the $5.00 RR and had no idea why I got one.I looked at the ad and none of the items I bought had a RR,now I know. Thanks!

wipes should work. i think i might try that one since we have two in diapers and found out it will soon be three :)

Not only should the wipes work, but if you don't have the manufacture Q for them (why don't I have this??? hmmmm), then you'll pay $5.13 for 9 packs of wipes with the back to school wags Q and get back a $5 RR, making it $0.13 for 9 packs of wipes.

Tara,
Congratulations...best wishes to you and your hubby:)

Congrats on baby #3 Tara! My daughter is almost one and we typically use pampers wipes, but with the super cheap, almost free huggies wipes at Wags, I am stocking up like crazy. I'd be crazy to pay an arm and a leg for pampers, when I can get the huggies ones so cheap!! I figure we are going to use them eventually!!!!

Wow, buying $25 of Huggies wipes would be a great deal with this one, but I know that my store would never have that many on the shelves! My store is really bad about stocking items for good deals. They sold out of Huggies wipes as soon as the $2 coupon came out, and probably won't get anymore until after it exires. It's a battle each week for RR items, too!

In NY at Walgreens, you must spend $25 TO USE THE COUPON AND EVEN IF YOU SPEND IT BEFORE THEY TAKE OFF THE $5 COUPON THEY WILL MAKE YOU SPEND $25 BEFORE YOU CAN USE IT. iS IT DIFFERENT IN OTHER STATES?

Big oops; I read this post LATE last night and made 3 $25+ purchases today and, of course, received no RRs b/c it isn't the 19th yet. =( I didn't buy anything that I didn't need, though; I just split up my transactions and got more body wash.

My transactions were as follows and can be repeated later this week LOL:

#1 2 pkg. Dr. Scholl's massaging gel insoles @ 10.99 each
1 Softsoap Nutri-Serums at 3.99

Used $6/2 Dr. Scholl's coupon
Received $10 Dr. Scholl's RR and $4 RR for the Softsoap

#2 3 packages photo stamp kits clearanced at 7.19 (less than the price of reg. stamps)
1 Sotfsoap Nutri Serums 3.99

Received $4 RR for Softsoap

#3 7 pkg. Huggies Natural Care Wipes ( these are 72 ct. instead of 64) @ 2.79 each
Softsoap Nutri Serum 3.99
Used back to school coupon for Huggies saving $16 total

Received $4 RR for Softsoap

HTH!

If the photo stamps work out for me, I may go buy some more later in the week for the $5 RR deal!

None of the wags around me have stocked since the $2 wipe coupon came out.

A few of them face out one box of wipes to look in stock and that is it.

I talked to one lady and she laughed at me and said she was told to keep them in the back until the coupon expires.

Of course, you can't really blame them. Since the back says $1 and the front says $2 it was obviously a mistake.

Oh, and it does say manufacturer coupon so technically they can refuse to take your insert coupons.

Has anyone tried to go to Wags today for the $5 RR promo? I went earlier, spent $25 before coupons, used three "coupons" (one Wags coupon from weekly ad, one mfr coupon and also one RR). The new RR didn't print and the checkout lady told me it was because I "used a coupon"- nothing more specific than that. The line was backed up behind me so I left (mad!). I was trying to figure out exactly what the "rules" (which are not explained well in the ad) are. What type of coupons can you NOT use? All- or just Wags or just mfr? Tried calling corporate, the lady I talked to didn't know anything about the RR promo, sent me to e-commerce. Of course they couldn't help me- told me to call the store. Called the store back, asked to speak the mgr, and was put on hold for 5+ minutes and finally disconnected. ARRGGHH! I'm so frustrated- this is why I prefer CVS 1,000 times over Wags!

Just got the $5 off $25 coupon, but they told me it would not print if I didn't spend $25 AFTER all coupons and RRs. I was so disappointed because my RRs were expiring today. I just lined up again and used them all on Soft Soap to "refresh" the dates on them, and will go back for the Dr. Scholl's deal tomorrow. Thanks!

I did the wipes scenario today and it worked out fine for me. I bought 9 wipes (with 9 of the .50 coupons from this past Sundays's SS). When I got there I realized that I didn't have my wallet, but I did have a $5 RR, so I also got 3 of the .49 padded envelopes with the .50 off coupons and 2 of the Walgreens aluminum foils. My total out of pocket after tax and everything was only 2.19!!!!!

oh, and I did get the $5 RR at the end. Luckily I found a good Walgreens next to where DH works. One in my area only allows 1 RR per transaction, another doesn't give you RR if you use a RR to pay (even if it prints out, they won't give it to me. They just throw it away I guess). But the people at this store are always so nice and helpful. :)

I tried the tylenol buy 1 get 1 free with 2 coupons and they wouldn't accept both. The manager said only 1 coupon for a buy 1 get 1 free so I wasn't able to get it.
