Dollar General: Mr. Potato Head ONLY $0.50!

Dollar General has advertised in their toy book flyer Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head priced at just $2.50... yes, $2.50! There is a $2 Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head printable coupon available here that would make these just $0.50! Now according to Dollar General's coupon policy, they do not accept internet printable coupons. If that's the case, then go price match this deal at Walmart or Target.

(Thanks, Susan!)

I have never done a "price match" how does this work? Do I need to take the ad from the other store?

Where can you get the Dollar General Toy ad?

Anonymous said...

I think our DG store had the toy ads right inside the front door next to their other ads.

The toy add is in the stores at the form or you can ask for one... It is true they do not accept internet cps. but walmart does price match with this i have done it!!!

My Dollar General does accept internet coupons. I have used them there several times with no problem, so you might check with yours if you don't want to have to price match.

This is not the typical mr. potato head. I don't know if walmart will price match the normal mr potato head for $2.50 because it has to be the exact product shown in picture.

My dollar general does accept internet coupons. I got my $.50 Mr. Potato Head last week. It will be great for a toy drive. Just note- this is not the full-sized toy. It's a miniature version. Probably about 6-8 inches tall.

Target has them on sale, use your $5.00 coupon. I got one for .99. And it's a real one!

From Corporate:

Dollar General is pleased to accept manufacturer coupons at any of our more than 8,100 stores. If you have five coupons for five products, you may use them in one transaction unless the coupon states otherwise. If the coupon states that it is good for any product, you may use the coupon for any product even if it is not pictured, unless the coupon states otherwise.

You may use a Dollar General coupon along with a Manufacturer’s coupon for the same item, as long as neither coupon states otherwise.

Unfortunately, due to fraudulent attempts, we are unable to accept internet coupons, unless they were e-mailed to you directly from Dollar General. To sign up for Dollar General promotional discounts and offers, please visit www.dollargeneral.com and click on the "Sign up for E-mails" link in the upper right corner of the page.

You are a valued customer here at Dollar General.

Kind regards,

Amy C. Drolet

My mother works for a Dollar General. The store she works at is taking internet coupons. Maybe it depends on the store?

My Dollar General also takes internet coupons.

I tried this a couple of weeks ago at my Dollar General and they said they didn't accept internet coupons but they were going to take it anyways. Then they saw that these were called minis and the coupon was for regular potato heads so they wouldn't do it.

I thought Target was taking the coupon before price matching?

I just got mine! the coupon beeped but the cashier entered it manually no problem

Target's new policy says Target coupons before, manufacturer's coupons after price matching.
The coupons that this is for is a manufacturer coupon so you can do both and they take the coupon after.

off the subject a little...does any one know where to puchase the Hasbro dance cam toy? I have the 10.00 off coupon 4 it thanks

The ones at Dollar General are REALLY little potato heads, not like the ones at Target or Walmart. I did however get Target to PM the Dollar General and take the IP coupons. Thank you

The Dance Cam toy is available at Walmart

I printed off the coupon for $2.00 off the mr. Potato Head and headed to Dollar General. Our store refused to take any coupon PRINTED off the internet, and stated that they are to be considered counter-fit. I don't know why. But did show me the statement, saying so. They also stated they ALL Dollar General are to do this. With ANY and ALL internet coupons. Just a heads up!

I can't believe we don't have a dollar general in California :(

I tried this am to see if out Dollar General would take an internet coupon but they said no. I would not even bother to make a trip. I was on my way home and thought I would try. NO LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually used the $5 off coupons, and they adjusted them down to $3 (I got them as stocking stuffers before the sale) ... they beeped, but the manager was nice....

this is not a full sized mr. potato head. these are about 4 inches tall.

My DG would not accept internet coupons, so oh well, I am still on my photobook high :)

I did not have success with Dollar General. It was price at $3 and did not take online printable coupons. So just be aware...I was hoping to score a couple of them. I will see if Wal-mart will match and them try to use the printable coupons. Thanks for letting us know about the deal!!!

I pricematched at Walmart. it took 2 tries. The first pricematched but would not take my coupon. She said that there was a regular Mr. Potatohead and I had the special one called Ages&Stages. She was of course full of it but she had to come up with a reason why it would not scan. My second attempt the cashier pushed it through.

I also wanted to add that Walmart is no longer allowed to ask to see your ad. If its a $10 or more price difference you might want to have it anyway, because that requires management approval.

Dollar General will not take that coupon. I have already tried it but I didn't think about price matching. Thanks.
