I am pregnant (again!) and expecting our third this summer. I've always used Enfamil Lipil and with my first got tons of Qs. With my second I only got a couple. Does anyone use this kind of formula? What does your ped. say about it? Is is the same as the high end ones? I want to do what is best for my baby but it is silly to spend money on Enfamil if Parent's Choice is the same thing....or is it?

Shirley, ask your pedi to be sure, but when my kids finally were off of hypo-allergenic formula, mine said the two big brands and Target, WalMart, and Kmart generics are literally all the same thing.

I ended up using Kmart's formula because it was consistently cheaper around here.

I'd go for it, it can't hurt to have a few different kinds around to try.
And CONGRATS! :D

I love parents choice formula, I have used it with both my babies, (both were on soy) and they did great with it.

I use Parent's Choice all the time. It's half the price of regular. I did a comparison with my first child and it has all the same stuff as the name brand!

Thanks, anon! I've been researching online and, of course, I understand that there are nutritional requirements but I guess my thinking is that the two big brands must somehow be exceeding those requirements to justify their prices but, maybe not from what I've been reading. My FIL owned a grocery store so I would always get cases of Enfamil Lipil at his cost plus be able to use my Qs but he passed away last April and we sold the store so I'm looking into store brands this time around. We do have a Target, Walmart and Kmart and I guess I'll just research some more. I just don't want poor baby #3 to think he/she is not as important as the other 2. Hopefully, he/she will just think that his/her mommy is smarter than she used to be!

My son's pedi said that the Kirkland brand at Costco is made by the makers of Similac and that the Walmart is made by the makers of Enfamil! He said it is the exact same thing but they make a different label to sell at a cheaper price! I couldn't believe it. Once I stopped breastfeeding at 7 months we picked the Parent's Choice Gentle!

What do you say in the email or phone call?

I don't use Parent's Choice all the time (I rarely go to walmart) but it is good stuff. I typically get the Target up and up formula or Walmart's depending on what I havea coupon for. My son recieves Similac through WIC and doesn't seem to notice the difference between Similac and the two store brands when we need to buy extra.

We switch between Enfamil Lipil and the Parent's Choice, there is NO difference. The consistency is a little different but it has NEVE made my son sick. It's half as much money too.

I use Parent's choice. It is great and about half the price of the name brand. I asked the Pediatrician and she said she'd never buy the name brand. She also said a lot of the "generics" are made by the name brand companies.

I breastfed our son till he was almost ten months, then I started using the Enfamil(with coupons), but when those ran out, I started buying Parents Choice, and he has had no problem with it at all.I am actually having a hard time getting him to drink cows milk now that he is 14months,he just loves that formula!

I have used this type and my baby loves it! My doctor said that all baby formula is made by 3 different companies and they will have various brands made there with all the same ingredients (read the label and compare if you don't believe) but they just use different packaging. It is basically the same so as long as your baby doesn't have excess spit up or gassiness then you can use whatever.

My ped said (like others said) that the generics are made by the big companies... the reason the name brand is so high is b/c a % of the cost goes to Medical Research for other childhood illnesses... as Enfamil, Similac, etc have medical research facilities that they fund...

I have used Parent's Choice with both babies and my ped told me the same. . it says "Compare to Similac Sensitive" on the can, so it HAS to be the same stuff (literally Similac!!)
I am the one that told Collin about this; my letter was just complimenting Parent's Choice on their formula and explaining that I've turned friends onto it, too. I said that I have never found a coupon for their formula and that's when they told me they would put me on their list and as long as I kept up the correspondances that Collin listed, I'd continue to receive coupons! I WISH I'd known this with the first baby!!!

I've been using this formula for my third baby (the immune support kind) and have been very pleasantly surprised with it (I always used Enfamil Lipil with my first 2). I'm excited for a way to save even more off the already cheap price!!!

When you call, all you do is ask for them to send you coupons for parent's choice formula. They then ask your info-address,phone, etc. and then they tell you it will be like 4-8 weeks. They are very nice. They also remind you that you can call every 30 days...and the 30 days are calendar days, not days after you receive the coupons....

Regarding the questions on whether Parent's Choice is equivalent to the big name brands...Yes! --according to my pedi--there are nutritional standards that all formula companies must follow and pretty much all of the powdered formulas are the same. The only brand she recommended we not use is Nestle Good Start (not sure why).

You can check the can for Parent's Choice or check their website...it shows nutritional comparisons...

We have saved so much money buying Parent's Choice Soy compared to Similac Soy. Parent's Choice is $14a can and Similac is over $25 a can. $11 a can is a huge difference and really ads up!!!!

I've heard that the big name companies charge more for their formula partially because they spend tons on advertising.

Good luck and best wishes to all of the expecting mommies!

If you go here www.parentschoiceformula.com you can get a free sample. Also, if you were able to snag a $5 Enfamil coupon from coupons.com a couple of weeks ago you can use this in addition to the Walgreens $2 off coupon in the November coupon book for a sweet deal! On top of that I have an additional $15 rebate from Enfamil Premium when you purchase 2 cans of powder [23.4 oz or larger] or from 8 cans of Ready-to-use Enfamil PREMIUM [32 fl oz]. on one receipt that I most likely recieved in the mail (since I've become a new mother 6 weeks so far I have gotten a lot of free things). I was able to snag some for really cheap.
