I bought a few at one Target with no problem. I went to another Target and they tried to tell me they don't price match on door busters. Their Price Match Policy was RIGHT THERE ON THE DESK at customer service and I asked WHERE exactly it stated that they don't price match on door busters and that if they don't PLAINLY state it in PLAIN view - then it's false advertising and they gave it to me. I think I'm going to print out their policy, (I already have a copy of their coupon policy) and put it in my binder as well. There are going to be LOTS of doorbusters coming up with the holidays, they need to state their policy CLEARLY.

I am actually glad I didn't waste my time on this deal. I have one of these I got from a garage sale and my girls play with it but not very often. Last time I was in Target they said no doorbusters and their corporate is saying no doorbusters so I personally my time is worth more than getting a $10 toy for free. To all those that got the toy congrats but me personally....I think there are too many variables and too many people running all over town wasting gas ending up with nothing. For me I'm just glad Target is willing to price match what they will. I think we need to be thankful for that and not always push the envelope!

I'm wondering why everyone is so mad about this deal. I called one Target who flat out said no. I called another and she told me yes. I made sure to ask how many she had in stock and she said at least 10. I took the ad in this morning and the girl told me she cant do doorbusters, but luckily the girl I spoke to yesterday stepped up and said she read the policy twice and it said nothing about doorbusters. I'm in college and I'm not working right now, but I still have to give Christmas presents so I bought 5. For those of you who got mad at people who did this, here's the deal. There were more left in the store for others, but I got up early to be there at 8 when they opened, so that I could make sure I could get some. I considered going last night but it was too late. These will be going to people that almost cannot afford to spend money on a TOY, they need it for more inportant things such as FOOD. I understand the frustration, when you go into the store and all the candles you wanted are gone or any other deal, but there is no need to be mean to people who buy more than one. I miss out all the time on deals. I see it posted and by the time I get there everything is gone, but I don't come on the blog and start putting people down.

We are all looking to save money, so I'm sure people did not buy something they didn't need.

I'm sorry to those who couldn't get this deal. I went to the Target that wouldn't let me buy 3 candles for which i had 3 coupons, because it said 1 per purchase. I was shocked, but I Guess I got lucky. There will be other deals and hopefully Walmart will honor this as well.

I went to one Target and the lady told me that the toy in the ad is not the same toy because the one at Target it's legs are all green except the top part, and the one in the ad are all different colors. But it's okay because I went to another one and was able to buy four. : )

Thanks!

I didn't have much luck with the deal. My Target told me they had some and would be holding one for me. Well when I got there, they didn't have one, and the lady was supposed to call me back and let me know. She never did, and I wasted my gas to go there. The manager was nice and let me get another $20 or less toy of my choice and just gave me the $10 off that toy since it was their screw up.

I will admit that people who buy multipes of these deals irritate the snot of me. There are other people who want to buy the products, and others like me. I am a single mom of 2 barely getting by, so I live for deals so my kids even have a Christmas!!

I agree w/ the PP - since all these store are calling corporate to see if door busters can be taken, soon corporate is going to notify every store and target deals are going to be harder to come by!

My mom works at Target, and called me this morning to say they were sold out (by 10AM!). Apparently people were buying 5,6 even 7 at a time. I only wanted three; one for my daughter, one for my niece and one for Toys for Tots. I called the other Target in our area, and they have one left. It's on hold for me, and I'm going in about an hour for it. My mom has been doing these (she's a cashier) herself all day, so there shouldn't be a problem. I hope everyone else can get an opportunity for this deal (and I really hope that those that are buying 7 at a time, will choose to donate some)!

Toys R Us in Lewisville, TX will take competitor coupons. I didn't bother with Target and bought it at Toys R Us with the Target coupon for $.49.

Anonymous said...

2 out of my 3 Targets here in Nor Cal would allow it. When I did it at my first Target the CS lady said, "Serious?? You owe me 53 cents!!" The manager right next to her looked over her shoulder and said, "I gotta go get me one of these!!" Store #2 the CS lady said nearly the exact same thing and then Target #3 said they would not price match this particular TRU toy in the ad b/c it says 50% off on the picture of the toy. Then she showed me where it says that in their "guidelines" cheat sheet for price matching. I didn't push it. One for my son and niece was more than I could have asked for!! YAY!

While the discussion here is certainly entertaining, to say the least, I agree with Anon 1:39 and Anon 1:53.... I suspect the Target price match policy will be modified very soon.

After reading the discussion here, I will not be trying this deal at my Target or Toys R Us. Why? Because it is pretty clear to me (with the confusion/ issues most are having) that this is NOT the intent of the Target price match policy. I feel like I would be taking advantage of my local Target. They most certainly will lose money on this item. I am happy to take advantage of great "legit" deals- but not at the expense of others. If you wonder why some of the Target cashiers aren't happy about doing this deal- it's probably because they are worried about their jobs! Too many money-losing deals like this and Target will have to lay off more people. We're all struggling in this economy, most certainly the retailers. Somehow I just don't feel right with this one. I know most of you doing this deal aren't intentionally trying to "hurt" Target... I just don't think I could be proud of a deal like this one. Just my opinion. Sorry!

It's me, Anon 3:02 again. I just wanted to clarify-- I appreciate everything this site does! I LOVE Hip2Save. So that was not a knock on this site or the Alphabet Pal post! Collin does an awesome job delivering amazing, legitimate deals to us. I doubt Collin had any idea how much discussion this post would spark! LOL

Just wanted to leave a comment about Arizona Targets and TRU. First of all TRU does NOT accept competitors coupons. Secondly, Target does indeed price match with the actual ad, not a copy or an interent copy. Third, Target does NOT price match with any door buster or 2 day ads, strictly the 7 day circular that comes in our Sunday paper!! I hope this helps, I just called several different locations here to make sure the rules didn't vary by store. Still 10 dollars for this toy is a good price especially to donate to needy families for this Holiday season.

Anonymous said...

Dude I just went to TRU and OMG its like Friday the 13th is Black Friday.. People are CRAZY and the selves were EMPTY and its just 2pm here... LORDY!

It seems like everyone's going a little too crazy for a single toy deal. Hitting 3 or more Targets AFTER getting a few at the first one? When do you stop, once you've cleaned out all the shelves in your area? I know some people do truly need them as gifts and do truly plan to donate, however, I know there are just as many people out there who clear the shelves so they can resell. It's a little selfish and silly in my opinion.

I live in Utah and went to 3 different targets 2 had none left and one had tons but they wouldn't price match on a door buster :( I'm super bumbed if anyone has one they want to let me buy I'd be greatful :)

Target on Van. Mall Dr., this morning they wouldn't match prices. I was more than fine with that but asked for a copy of the store policies to take with me.
She would'nt provide it for me or make a copy of the one she had. So as I was looking at it, I (very mistakenly) decided to snap a cell pic of it right there and was attacked by her from over the counter and also a 6ft male employee from behind backed up by their security. She ripped at my arms a couple of times while I said to stop touching me...all the while in front of my kids!
She ripped the page from my hands and I demanded to speak with mgmnt. Found out she was the asst. mgr. and I told her she was way out of line and that unacceptable behavior. She blamed it entirely on me. Granted I didn't rationalize that snapping a pic was wrong, my bad, however, to physically attack me???? Who cares about the flippin' toy!!!!
AT THAT POINT she then tried to go find me a copy and disappeared for 10 mins. and then she returned with a copy of the very same thing they assulted me over!
After 30 mins.after this (while I as waiting for the police that I called) the store mgr came out and asked what was wrong and said he was clueless. Yeah... Really, 30 mins after the fact you show your face? Write letters people!!! I cant be the only one being treated like a criminal because you use coupons.

Insider tip.
stores can pull their stock in situations like these till the sale blows over or coupon expires.
They're aware of these blog sites and will take coupons off packages, or whatever the deal is, so don't expect much.

I purchased this toy at my Target this morning. Customer Service had to call a supervisor over and there was some lengthy discussion, after which I was given the toy at the price of $.49. I said that if it was against the policy I understood, but from what I read I was allowed to do that. I think people don't like it when people outsmart their systems. Thanks for the advice Hip!

I haven't read all the comments (!) but just for the heck of it, I purchased 2 at Target using their coupon and tried to price match at the service desk. I didn't have a hard copy ad from TRU but I had printed the one off the Internet.

Used my nicest voice and explained I hadn't driven 40 minutes to get an ad, could they accept the photocopy? The lady was actually nice, but said they couldn't and also couldn't use a Target coupon.

I am going to e-mail Target myself b/c I don't see anything about not being able to use a Target coupon, the product having the be in the Target ad OR excluding door-busters and would like confirmation for the future.

I didn't expect to get the deal and honestly, I kinda agree that it wouldn't be good for the store in this situation, anyway.

Anonymous said...

I got mine, infact the lady that worked there asked how I found such a good deal. Looking forward to giving it as a present.

The Thorn Family said...

just tried Walmart (which has this for $9) and they said they will not take other stores coupons.

embarrassed said...

I could persue it, but why.
By calling the police, I already made it clear to (most importantly) my children that it was unacceptable behavior and to them that the "hate crime" won't be tolerated.
Hopefully no one will loose their jobs, but will get better training from their new surveillance footage, starring "Vancouver's most detested" frugaller. (grin)

Courtney said...

Thorn Family- I did it today at Wal-mart. They said no i presented an e-mail that said they did and called 1-800-Walmart and they also said they did. Then they called the store manager and they did it because that is now the policy.

This is awful. I just traveled 25 miles total to 5 different targets and every one was sold out. I am so heartbroken and wasted all my gas! I cannot believe everyone is sold out. To those who purchased more than one...can someone sell me one?? In Omaha, NE.

Anonymous said...

I was able to get 2 this morning at the Target in Bonney Lake, WA. I called first to make sure they would do the price match. The cashier looked over the ad.. she seemed hesitant but did not ask any questions. I am sure others were able to do this as well since there weren't very many left and it was only 10am.

Thanks Hip for the tips to those of us who would not otherwise have much of a Christmas!

And please only take what you need! If you feel the urge to take more just remember about the times you were not able to get a great deal because the item was sold out!!

Courtney said...

Just left Target and like most of you they will not price match doorbusters, however I am on the phone with them now and will let you know what I find out.

Anonymous said...

Target does not match Doorbusters, Early Bird specials, or any other timed events. You must have a valid (entire) print ad showing dates in order to get a price match there. It has to be the identical item/model no., etc.

Anonymous said...

The corporate policy at Target says they do not match prices for timed events. Micki is misleading you on that. It is printed on the on the card they give you at their service desk when you ask for it. This is PLAIN view. I am so frustrated with people trying to get something for nothing and being rude about it. It makes it difficult for the rest of us when we legitimately have something to be price matched.

Crystal said...

In response to anonymous that posted right after me(Crystal):I got 3 because one was for my nephew, one was for my best friend's niece(best friend couldn't get there in time), and one was to donate.

Unknown said...

Target in West Little Rock, AR and Conway, AR did not honor the price match. In fact West Little Rock was the rudest and most ignorant customer service i have experienced.I will never go to Target in W. LR again. This experience has killed my Target excitement.
According to guest relations, Target does not match price on Door busters, clearance or any percentage.

Target DOES NOT match "door buster" or 2-day type sales according to a corporate letter they showed me. I found this out the hard way. As a single mother who works outside the home, my time is VERY important to me - every minute I spend shopping is one minute I don't get to spend having fun with my daughter. So, while I appreciate this and other blogs, I REALLY wish that you would verify the reliability of deals before you post them and before I waste part of a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. What a huge disappointment this was : (

Anon @ 4:43 - There is nothing in Target's Official price matching policy against doorbusters. The info published on this site is correct. Apparently Target released an internal training memo indicating that they are not supposed to price match doorbusters, but this change has not been published in their official policy. We are only finding out about this change through trying this deal. There is no way H2S could've known about this new memo prior to posting this deal. Using all the info we had at the time, this deal should've worked. I was sad my Target wouldn't price match this deal for me too, but there's no reason to blame this site for ruining your day.

I too have a feeling that Target will be revising their official policy after this whole mess...I guess we'll see what the fall out is...

Unknown said...

Just wanted to inform everyone that they will not do it on a doorbuster just so that you don't have to waste your time.

nancy Hill said...

Has anyone actually been able to snag this deal. I went to my Target- Riverbank California and was told because the Toys R Us ad states 50% off Target does not honor ads because of it being % off.

Anonymous said...

So my Target would not price match this "Door Buster". I had the printed price match policy (from their site that can be accessed 2 ft from their guest services), which does not exculde door busters or timed event. They did have their internal info saying no door busters or timed events. They wouldn't budge. The manager was a little short with me, and told me to call corporate... So I did. I told them that they should change their info that is going out to the public on their "Low Price Promise". We were going to donate the toys, and could care less about actually getting the toy. But, the fact that they did not honor their own policy was laughable to me. I can totally see why stores don't price match at all. Called Wal-Mart, they said they do not price match "Door Busters", or accept competitor coupons... Hummm. I guess some people are more lucky that others. Oh well, thus the saying "If something is too good to be ture, it is." It did make for an adventurous morning :)

Amber, please post a link of Targets copy of official policy please asap.
thx.

So sorry to see that many of you abused the priveledge of being able to score a good deal on this toy. The deal on these items did not start until 3pm-midnight today and tomorrow 7am-11am. The other items at the bottom of the ad and many others started today at 9am. So sorry, that many of you were like me when you arrived at the store @ 3 to see that the shelves were empty. I went to several stores. Please do not take advantage of the employees at these stores just because they fail to take a look more closely. Your honesty is what enables the stores to pass on such good deals to the customers. Remember "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch".

I went tonight and got one of these...there were more than one on the shelf (as the guy was restocking) but after seeing a lady with TWENTY in her cart on my way back to the toy section I decided I was only going to get one. How do I know there were 20? Because she was talking loudly about how she had 20 in her cart. Luckily I got to customer service before her, showed the email Collin posted about price matching and no issues whatsoever. I dont really have a problem with people getting more than one of something on a great deal, but 20? I think that's a little much...

I am deeply saddened by people here. After reading through these posts and hearing people talk about getting 7-8 of these it is just sad. I looked at a blog of someones post here,to see that she regularly clears out Target. It is SAD SAD SAD!! By the way, the target coupons say one per transaction but they accept more as a courtesy so why don't you do the same. It is the holidays and people need to consider other people besides themselves. Going off my soapbox now.

"our Low Price Promise"
If they're going to put Q's out and make such a commitment then good for us. But all their stores need to be on the same page as to stop confusion. It's not anybodys fault except Targets. If your INTENTIONALLY trying to mislead or do something wrong, you got issues, otherwise the early bird catches the worm.

OMG!! I'm on cloud 9 in coupon heaven! Per Courtney's comment earlier, stating that WalMart accepts competitor's coupon, I followed up. I got 2 Alphabet Pals for FREE + $2 overage!! Here's what I did: I called my local WalMart and asked if they'd accept Target coupons. They said no. So I called WalMart corporate and they said yes. I told them my WalMart said no, so what should I do? She said she'd put a message thru to the manager. Two hours later, I got a call from my WalMart's manager who said they would accept the coupon and if I had any problems to have the cashier come get him. At WalMart, the toy was priced at $15, but then it rang up on sale for $9/each. The cashier did have to go ask the manager if she could accept the Target coupons. Then she put them through and I got the extra $2 taken off my other groceries. YAY!!! Thanks Courtney and hip2save!

I wish people would take into consideration the fact that other people may be looking for the same deal. I went to snag this toy earlier and there was 6 on the shelf. A lady grabbed them all! She looked very excited as she rounded the corner and grabbed a handful of the coupon books as well.
I politely asked her if she could come off of one of the toys since she had 6 of them and that I was in the store specifically for that toy. She seriously looked at me and said, I would but I need to sell them to make some money.
And she walked away.
I wanted to throw mega blocks at her!

I went to my Target today in Lafayette, IN and they would not do this price match because it is a special 2 day sale at Toys r Us. Had it been a week long sale they'd have done it, but it was a special sale so Target said they couldn't and didn't either.

OMG, I'm so sorry to hear that lady took all 6, and said she was going to sell them!!! My sister and I always joke that we could make a business of this, but would never ever ever do that!! I really wish people wouldn't buy 7+ of these. No one can need 7. Come on. I live in a small town and they were all gone by 10 am when I went in. And the associate said there were 20 that morning. OH I am laughing so hard right now reading all these posts. I, myself, didn't get to get one as my Target in Omaha said no, but you all CRACK ME UP!! It's not the end of the world, and if people were lucky enough to get 10 and can pass them on to neighbors, relatives or even friends for them to give to their kids for Xmas presents...then so be it. It all goes to making some kid happy somewhere which is what the toys are all about...It's the Holiday season people, don't be so crabby...be thankful for what you have. BE MERRY!! Have a happy holiday you all!

Worked for me today in So California. Took the item and ad up to customer service. She looked over the ad, and I said it was a Toys R Us weekend ad. She changed the price and rang it through, coupon and all! What a great deal!

I just wanted to say that after a lot of nastiness in the comments, Sandy in Ill. you are AWESOME!! Thanks for the thoughtfulness to bring such a silly situation back into perspective :) I hope someone that got a bunch can do what she asked.

My cashier at customer service pulled out a special price matching policy card and told me they do not honor door buster prices. On a happy note I was able to use the leapfrog tag system mfr q and target q on the junior tag system to get it for $8.99 off of $28.99.

Scored these cute little guys, and some other amazing deals at my local Target tonight! Price matched with the same ToysRUs ad and got the wii Music game for $24.99, plus bought another game and matched it up with the $10/2 Target wii game coupon...sweet deal!

Target does NOT price match door busters or one/two day sales. Only a reg sale priced item is acceptable. On a seperate note: Target is an absolute NIGHTMARE! I have decided that no "Great Deal" is worth beting treated like trash. I have had my fills of Target stores raising my blood pressure and forcing me to put angry words in my mouth. So long to Target (at least in our household)
:)

I agree with the above... the last 2 days have been so entertaining reading these comments! It's not the end of the world and for real the upset people so didn't get one... lol!

I was able to snag this deal..thanks! Also, I was shown the price matching policy as well by the customer service representative. I keep seeing "time sensitive" being posted. Think about this people, all ads are "time sensitive" if you want to look at it the way some of you are. A Timed event is what the policy states! Meaning an 8-11 sale or 8-12. Not a sale that is 2 DAYS! That is right days..... Just like your 7 day flyer that comes out every week. This is days too. Everyone is intitled to their own opinion but come on some of you folks that think that we are stealing or abusing the policy, it is time for you to wake up. Target and some of the other ads that are provided on the blog have been in business for YEARS! They know how people get savings. Do you not think that Target as not increased an item somewhere else in the store for more than 300% its wholesale value or how about how many people do not want to waste the time to price match or used coupons, as we all know this is not like this does not take time. I think that before someone decides to discuss abuse and stealing they need to research their facts. This blog is about helping one another find good deals and then letting each other know, not about downing individuals that do get a good deal. Every deal is not always going to work for everyone due to situation and location. It would be nice if some of the bloggers would understand this a little more. Sorry to ramble bloggers but tired of people that want to "yell" stealing and abuse.

I got mine yesterday! No questions asked, no problems. Just try, its worth a shot! worst that could happen is they say no! Thanks for a good deal! :)

I just tried getting this deal for my nephew...the manager said they were not able to do Doorbusters, and I pointed to the sign on the desk which say "we price match." She actually pulled out the policy and it DOES say they do not match doorbuster prices. That's okay, I am not upset and am just jealous of all who did score this great deal, even though it really is against their policy.

If you are at Target and they appear to be "sold out"...ask an associate to scan the label on the shelf, they will more than likely have them in the back. I don't suggest you show them the Toys R' Us ad, I think they are onto this AWESOME buy. I think they have pulled this toy from the shelf and only give it upon request. I lucked out with 2! One for my nephew and one for toy's for tots! $1.04 to make two kids happy in this stuggling economy.

I got my alphabet pal today at wal-mart. They have them on sale for $9. They accepted my $10 off coupon, making it free plus $1 coverage. I'm so excited! My 1 year old is going to love it!

For everyone price matching the UP movie at target...you should realize that you don't have to. It rings up 19.99 which is cheaper than the best buy price of 23.99. I did this today and thankfully realized that was the case before I overpaid for it. LOL

I called both my local Targets & after being told no I asked for a manager. I explained to the manager about thier price match policy & that thier website clearly states they will stack a Target coupon with a manufacters coupon. After awhile I was told yes I could price match & stack both coupons. I made sure to get their name & brought my print out of thier coupon policy & the letter Collin has posted about this. It worked, I got both the Clue & Pictueka(spelling?) games for $5.00 each!

TRU accepted Targets Q!!! Got 2 here in TX for $1.06

Didn't work. Tried 2 Targets in my area. They only match weekly ads, not doorbusters ad. It was worth a try though.

Went to Target last night & they were sold out but said that several stores were doing it. Called a store last night & had them hold it for me. I had the RUDEST people today there & honestly, that's why I stood my ground. I could have cared less about it, but they were so rude...literally talking to other customers about me while I was waiting on the side for the mgr. Unfathomable to me. But in the end, I got one & it's going to Toys for Tots (my 5 year old is clearly too old for this toy). I really stood firm only because of their attitude & the simple fact that they don't state on their website or any signage in stores that PMing doorbusters is an exclusion.

If Target has a policy & fails to let the public know about it, that's false advertising plain & simple. Which isn't legal. My guess is Target will change this Monday morning, but for now I printed out their policy!

I just tried in West Des Moines and was unsuccessful. I brought out the policy I had printed from their website and asked them to specifically show my why they would not honor. A manager was called and at the very bottom of the Toys R Us add it states "Quantities Limited" and limited quantities is included as an exclusion on the Target policy. I was polite and so were the Target staff until a mouthy little standby had to pipe in "You couldn't have used the coupons anyway so no matter how you try it wasn't going to work." I calmly answered I have an email from their corporate that states they DO accept coupons on price matching and she was wrong. No more comments from her! I am totally fine with accepting the policy when they can show me why, but I didn't need the snotty comment.

The Target nearest us was sold out when I called last night. So, I tried the next nearest Target. They had a bunch, so I asked the gal to hold 3 for me until today, when I would be in the area. I picked them up at Customer Service, gave them the TRU flyer & the Target web coupons & 10 minutes later I had 3 of them for $1.55!! AMAZING deal!! I made sure I was there within the TRU doorbuster hours, in case they brought that up, but they didn't. Never even mentioned it.
For those concerned with how many toys people are buying at once, I don't get it. I got one for our son, one for my godson & one for my nephew. Deals like this make it possible for me to get all of them presents this Christmas. With 4 kids of my own, I NEED these deals!
THANKS HIP2SAVE!!!!

The target I go to requires the actual ad and not a print out of the ad from the computer. They also denied me the price matching today b/c they said they don't match door buster sales, so I couldn't score this deal. :(
And to make matters worse, they were out of stock of Monster's Inc. so I couldn't price match the Best Buy price either. 0 for 2 today.

I was able to score this for 49 cents. 53 cents with tax. They had a lot of them when I went yesterday and got mine, but when I went back today with a friend, they were all gone. Makes me wonder if they took them off the shelf to avoid selling them that cheap. There had to be at least 20 yesterday. Today none.

I know Walmart will take things off the shelf temporarily to avoid having to price match.

I am so disappointed that Target turned me away and did not honor this deal here in Jacksonville. I already had lots to do today and I managed to get over to Toys R Us to get the ad and then get over to the first Target before 1pm when they sale ended at Toys R Us. Ok so - the first Target did not have the toy, so they called the nearest Target that did have it in stock. They actually had 7 in stock. I went to get a friend of mine to go with me and we headed on over to that Target. We shopped for other things and checked out and then went to the service desk to get the price matching for the leapfrog alphabet pal. Immediately they shut us down and told us they DO NOT accept price matching for doorbuster sales. I showed the Floor Manager their own Target Price matching policy I'd printed from Target.com and she said well we have another policy I can get for you in the back. When she returned with it - it was only an email she received from her regional manager when they realized so many people were getting this item for only $.49. So of course she tried to justify her turning down her own company's policy by using an email that NONE of us consumers even knew about or had access to. Of course I could not get a copy, but it did mention that door busters sales pricing would not be matched from other stores- no exceptions! I thin asked her why were they the ONLY store not accepting the matching when it's obvious others in our area did since their location was the only one with any in stock... hmmm. . . I just walked out and made a note of her name and decided to write the corp office tomorrow when I have time to collect my thoughts tactfully. Was this wrong of Target to change their policy and refuse their own price matching b/c of an email? I'm not sure how to feel about this since this is not the first time I've had trouble in a Target store. What would you do?

Another thought.... When I became a serious couponer about 2 years ago, I had no problems. Cashiers were friendly and looked forward to people saving money with coupons. Now look at our economy. People are struggling to make ends meet and lots of those people have found ways to cut corners and save money using coupons. The retail industry never expected there to be so many people 'actually' using coupons and using them strategically rather than aimlessly. While I support websites like Hip2save and southernsavers, I have to wonder if offering these secrets for getting things for next to nothing is the best idea. To clarify, I wonder if sites like this one should require people to pay a small fee to learn this information - that way the amount of people with access to these deals would be limited to those who were dedicated enough to pay for the information. This is in no way a selfish suggestion. I have just noticed that most of these blogs did not exist before 2 years ago. Just a thought....

My target honored the doorbuster deal...and took the coupons, although she said she thought the policy was one or the other. SHe gave both because even the MOD wasn't sure! Plus I scored the free wipes! Thanks

Ok, so today I went in to purchase the Alphabet Pal at Target - brought my Toys'R'Us ad, my $10 off Target coupon for the product, and a copy of the email from the lady from Targets Corp. office regarding their Price Ad Match Policy with me to purchase the item for only $0.49. Ya well it didn't work. The store's manager stated that Target will not honor Door Buster Ads since they're only for a short period of time. So I did go ahead and purchase the Alphabet Pal anyways but I also made copies of my receipt, the Toys'R'Us ad, and a copy of the email from their corp. office guest relations representative and sent Target an email requesting a $10 gift card in return for their very unclear policy. If they state that they honor/will price match any ads then why should they exclude any Door Buster ads? Not our fault that they would loose money and we would save.

Wow!! After reading some of these comments, I can clearly see that some of you are extremely poor or extremely selfish, and probably the latter. Some of you really stressed out over this toy. After reading that corporate said "no" to combining the coupon with the price matching, I didn't even try. Did that stop you die-hard, "my way or no way" people? No! One of you reported you spent "2.5 hours" to get this thing for 49 cents! Talk about dedication to an unworthy cause! I'm sure by that point it was all about getting your way, not the deal. No doubt some of you will write corporate and tell them how unhappy you are about not being able to fill a pickup truck with 49 cent worms that teach the alphabet. For those of you who do, please make sure to let them have it. Hold absolutely nothing back. The rest of us who don't wet ourselves in anticipation of the next deal will appreiciate the latest rounds of restrictions due in part to you. Did you really need multiples of these toys? Really? It's you people that have 537 tubes of toothpaste, 281 bottles of lotion, and huge tubs of other stuff that you won't donate or ever use for that matter, just sitting in your homes. You go to sleep at night, feeling safe and secure in knowing you have so much stored away "just in case". If you were one of the ones who argued enough and got your 4, 8, 10 alphabet worms, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I know you'll sleep well tonight, knowing they are safely packed away. Hold tight to them, b/c "you just never know" and "just in case".

Racquel at November 13 1:41pm and the comment left above hers make great points. Hopefully you turbo, give it ALL to me now deal shoppers will take a few seconds from admiring your stashes to read them.

@Anon 10:57. I don't think people are stressed about not being able to get the toy as much as they are angry that Target completely contradicted their policy on price matching posted on their own website.
I refuse to believe that people are mad that they did not get a toy. If you read further, you will see that a lot of these people DID follow the store policy to the letter. I feel that Target was wrong to deny sales based on an internal email that none of us consumers could have known about, and I feel they could have honored their own policy even if it this oversight would mean they lost some money that day. Where is the integrity? Where is the consistency? This is NOT the only store that pulls stunts like this. Don't some of you get it? These retailers are scrambling because we've all figured out their game and more and more people are getting familiar with couponing on a daily basis.. THEY WERE NOT EXPECTING US TO WAKE UP AND LEARN HOW TO TRULY USE COUPONS!!! They hoped that we would continue to throw out our coupons in the recycle bin or trash. It was their hope that we would not know the PERFECT time to use coupons. They get they we GET IT and they want to stop us. Well we have to be smarter than them to continue to save.
I suggest we all consider that LESS is MORE. SO stop buying the whole DANG store and leave some for others to buy. Don't you know that you draw attention to yourself when you have 20 of the same dang toy in your cart - telling someone on your cell phone that you are getting 20 b/c hey only cost .49. Are you serious? Those people who OVER DO IT - are to blame. They alerted the stores far sooner than they needed to be. In other words if we do thing in MODERATION - we can be assured that retailers will remain coupon friendly and mfc will continue to offer coupons for us to use. I am NOT trying to offend or make anyone angry. I've just been doing this long enough to see how things are changing for the worse for ALL of us. Learn who you can share this couponing information with - not everyone has integrity enough to coupon the correct way!

Anonymous 1:01 - I'm sorry, but if you are being that sneaky, putting a doorbuster ad inside of a regular ad, that is dishonest, and last time I checked, that's wrong. I can see going and seeing if the deal works for you, but stuffing one ad in another feels more than a little iffy to me.

My e-mail to ToysRUs:

I read online that as of today, November 13th through the Christmas holiday season you will accept competitors coupons. Is this true?

ToysRUs response:

Thank you for bringing this matter to the attention of the "R" Us Team. We do apologize but at this time we are not accepting competitor's coupons. We still do honor manufacturer's coupons, and "R" Us coupons, but we no longer price match, for a number of reasons, and we do not accept other companies coupons.

Um, Nicole, sounds like you have something to hide ....
if your doing nothing wrong (and you know when you are) then why not get 20 if it's legit. No one knows what someone is going to do with them. I say mind you own bees wax and remember, the early bird....gets the worm.

Courtney said...

I personally agree with Nicole. I hate going into Target and the shelves being cleared to walk by a person with 20 of the item in their cart. It's the reason why Target is now limiting coupons to 2 per computer. Didn't anyone's mother teach them about sharing. Other people need the items just as much as you do. One bad apple spoils the bunch right?1!?

Anonymous said...

if u HONESTLY needed this item then you would fine another way to get it or work HARDER and get up earlier! seriously i dont know why it bugs you all so much move on and get over it seriously do something about it instead of trying to make others feel bad bc YOU couldnt get 1 ughhhhh
