Avenue: FREE Mesh Tote, No Purchase Required

I just wanted to update you all about the Avenue coupon I posted yesterday. The hidden Mother's Day gift is for a FREE Mesh Tote, with NO other purchase required! You can print this coupon here. This offer is valid thru Mother's Day, but ONLY available while supplies last. If you want one, then I would highly suggest going their today.

One of my readers left a comment yesterday about having to spend $75 before getting the freebie. Well, there is some confusion going on because there actually is another coupon available. With this coupon you do have to spend $75 and then you receive a free mesh tote and flip flops. You can look at this coupon here.

Please keep in mind that these are 2 separate coupon offers and if you use the first coupon I posted, then you will NOT have to purchase anything else!

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I just told my mom to go on her lunchbreak and see what happens. She printed out both to show the cashier/manager the difference in the coupons. I will let you all know what happens later.

I went first thing this morning in Portland, OR. They had no idea and said they had no Free promo going on, except for the $75 one. They did not have any information about this or any idea what was free. I guess I'll try to go back and see if I get one!

I'm the Anon above...I just called my Portland store and as of right now 11am, they DO NOT have a Free tote without purchase deal going on. Her corporate manager told her to tell people sorry it was a misprint, the only deal right now is the, Free tote and flip flops with a $75 purchase.

Hi Collin, It is now 3:27 PM and I am at the car dealer waiting to get our window fixed. While we were out, I suggested my husband open the back windows, so I could keep mine up so as not to mess my hair (vain huh?) and we could get more air circulating...bad mistake.
When we got to Staples, he realized he couldn't get the back window up...that's why we are here.

Now to get to the reason for this comment. I also went to Avenue and they would not give me a tote-you need to spend $75.00 and then you get the tote and sandals...no way.
So ladies, unless you plan on spending $75.00, you might not want to waste your time.

Fran,
I'm sorry to hear that!:(

About the tote, though... well, I guees people at Avenue are all misinformed because I spoke to someone this morning (called there 1-800 #) and she told me that yes, there are 2 coupon offers available. One is when you spend $75 or more you'll get a free tote and flip flops, but then they have another one and you get a free tote with no other purchase required.

Now I'm just confused because there are 2 coupon offers, so how can they say there is ONLY one deal?!?

I brought BOTH coupons into Avenue 10 mins ago and they said it's the same coupon (the barcode #'s are the same if you look at them!) And there is only one coupon going on, and that is free tote bag with $75 purchase.

Rosa said...

Sorry, but is not the same.

Just called the 800 number and the woman I spoke to said the coupons were the same deal (even though they have different barcodes).

Hip2Save said...

Well, sorry about this!:(
If any one gets the free tote, then please let us know!

I've been doing some Internet research, and get this: I had two stores in Nebraska *confirm* that the freebie is a free tote. No purchase required. They're not supposed to say anything or ask for this coupon, but if customers provide it, they get a free tote. The coupon for the free tote and flipflops is not even required! This after two customer service agents at the 800 number insisted that the coupons were the same deal.

I just went there today and they said I had to spend $75

I was also told I had to spend $75. I've noticed a lot of retractions lately. Might be time to thoroughly research before posting.

Julie,
I post quite a few items daily and I do research them to the best of my ability. I called the 1-800# and spoke with someone at Avenue who confirmed to me that yet there were 2 freebies available and one was for a FREE tote with no other purchase. After talking with her I decided to post this. If they weren't organized with this promo or confused about the freebies, well, that's out of my control.

I work so hard to post lots of great deals on a daily basis. Some of the things I post I WILL make mistakes on. I'm not perfect and I do have 3 kiddos and hubby to take care of as well... so some deals I'm not able to research as much as I'd like, but I would assume readers would still like me to post them.

Thankyou so much for all the hardwork that goes into your research and daily postings. I love getting on to check out the latest deals. The fact that some companies choose to retract on some offers is certainly out of your control. Please continue to post all of the great finds! Thanks ~ A grateful homeschool mom :-)

Hip, I am not meaning to be petulant. Your site is great.

It just seems like corporate and their stores do not have their acts together deal hunting is YMMV.

Collin,
Again, I just had to comment. Don't you let anyone's comments get to you...and you don't have to explain yourself to anyone, besides, you already explained that to me in your comment once.
I don't know how that comment was intended, so I am not judging, but you do so much GOOD for all of us, that in my book, it's OK to make a blunder once in a while.
Besides, I went to Staples today and Avenue was a few stores down, in the same shopping center, so it really wasn't any big deal.
So, you keep your head held high... you have nothing to apologize for.

Another note: I think (my opinion)that because people went crazy with the KFC coupons, it forced them to do it differently. I sent them a "not so nice" email today. They should have known they would be overwhelmed with this offer. We're in a recession, for crying out loud...don't they know that, and that we all would want free food? They really should have made the limit 1 or 2 as most people print more than they should. You had the right idea when you and the family went that night to use your coupons....smart girl.

The last thing I will say is we got the window of the car fixed.
Thank God we paid for the extended warranty when we bought the car. It was the regulator with would have cost us close to $400.00...OOP $00.00. How's that for a deal?
He also noticed one brake light was out...he threw that in for free as well. We also needed a new switch for the driver's side, which we have to go back for next Friday, but also FREE.

Have a great weekend, Collin
and thanks again for all that you do.

Collin,
I told you I am "braindead". I hit "publish your comment" before I typed in my name, but I'll bet anything you knew it was me:)

It was the regulator "which" would have cost....I didn't do spell check on that one...braindead!

This is absolutely not your fault, and you have no need to apologize. You are providing a good service; the Avenue is simply reneging on the coupon. One of the store employees I spoke to in Nebraska said that they aren't supposed to talk about or ask for the freebie coupon, but if a customer brings it in, they honor it. This after two customer service reps at the 800 number insisted that the coupons were the same, though they couldn't explain why the bar codes differed. My local store did not honor the coupon, and in fact barely glanced at it. I bought a bag because it is cute and worth the $8.90 (this was before I discovered how disingenuously the promotion was being handled). I don't mind missing out on a freebie; however, I do mind the subterfuge, and I wrote corporate to let them know. I'd recommend others who were disappointed by the promotion to do the same.

I went today with the free coupon and they refused to take it and were a little rude.

Erin said...

The clerks are misinformed or lying if they aren't accepting the freebie coupon. I called my local store and asked if they would honor the free coupon. The woman said she wasn't aware of another deal but if I brought the coupon in, they would scan it. When I went in, the cashier tried to tell me the only deal was the $75 one. I explained the situation and she scanned a bag and my coupon, and it rang up free. It was literally their last bag. Yesterday they had a ton. Looks like they must have made many, many $75 purchases between yesterday and today. Everyone who was refused should complain to corporate. I will write again and enclose a copy of my 0.00 receipt so that they know that I can prove that they've been lying.
