My 8/19 Walgreens Shopping Trip

As you all know, my Target experience today wasn't the best... BUT that didn't deter me from going on to Walgreens and I'm sure glad I did!

Check out what I snagged below:
(Please note that one Twix bar and Starbucks Frappuccino are missing! Yes, I got hungry while shopping and who can really resist a Twix and Frappuccino?)

And check out what I paid:

Plus, I got back a $5 Register Reward for spending more than $25 (before coupons), a $1 Register Reward from the Kraft Velveeta cups and a $4 Register Reward from the SoftSoap! If you subtract that--my final cost really was just $3.90! I'm pretty excited, especially since I scored 4 packages of much needed Huggies wipes!

Also, I know lots of you are having trouble using your FREE 2 oz Glade Soy Candle coupons because you're having a hard time finding them. Well, I've got great news--to my surprise I found a whole bunch of these at Walgreens. They were priced at $3.29 each. If you can find these, then make sure to use them to get up to your $25 total. That way you'll get a $5 Register Reward back while spending very little out of pocket.

Here's what they look like:

How did you all do at Walgreens today?

Hi Collin,
I didn't go to Walgreens...I've kind of sworn off Walgreens until they come up with a better system.
I did notice you got the Soft Soap Body Wash...isn't that neat? I got them at CVS. Doesn't it make you feel good when something goes right, after you've just had a bad experience?

On the other hand, I did get 4 boxes of Blue Bunny cones FREE tonight...that's 24 total free cones...and boy, they sure are delicious.

I was able to snag 7 free Huggies wipes using the $1.50 off any Huggies diapering product at KMART today. These are always a much needed product with two in diapers.

Thanks for all you do.

Kmart had the candles. I was so excited to find them. I had looked at Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart with no luck.

Walgreens was wonderful today for me as well.

First Trip of the day -
Found that the Listerine was still on sale 3/$9 with $3RR, and I still had the buy 3 and save $5Q, so 3 bottles of Listerine for $1.
Conair Brush $2.99 with $2RR
Softsoap Body Wash $3.99 with $3.99RR
Found some Tylenol Sinus, which is very much needed right now, on clearance for $1.89, bought 2 and had 2 - $1Q's, making them $.89 each
I used $11 in RR, paid $2.05OOP and got back $9RR

2nd Trip -
Got some more softsoap
I did the Gillette Razor deal, with 6 total Q's. Razor - $2Q, Refill blades - $4Q, shaving gel - Free, shampoo - Free, deodorant - Free, body wash - Free
Found my 2 Glade Candles - Free

After all is said and done with the RR my OOP was just under $5, because on this trip, I spent more than $25 and got the additional $5RR

My Mom went to our local Wags. tonight. She tried to get the wipes (4, but then needed an extra item for the coupon/product ratio so she grabbed a 5th), but even though the Walgreens back to school coupon took $2 off each tub, a manager walking by only allowed her to get one. We have had so much trouble with our one and only Wags. in this town.

Last week, she went to another town and got tons of wipes no problem. She even found a CVS that would accept the Wags. coupon booklet for the wipes. She just had to have enough of the coupons b/c CVS had to cut out each one and keep it. She will be calling Wags. Corp. in regard to our local store. The twist the wording on coupons to limit you and so forth. I have been calling corporate for over 2 months now about the same case # and I have not received one call from them. It went to District manager and then to Regional, but still nothing. I am about to actually write the CEO. I have his name and the address. Not trying to sound so negative, but I really have had it with our store. I am ready to liquidate all my RRS and be done with them. I used to love shopping there. I think if the Store Manager left or was fired, then things would work out better. Sounds mean, but this store is ridiculous.

By the way, I am really so happy for each and every one of you who are enjoying your Walgreens store and finding good deals. Think of the rest of us as ya'll are scoring some of these great deals during this 4 day sale. : )

Help....How is everyone getting the wipes deals? I must have missed something..

I had a good WAGS run today. Before Qs my total was $33 (2- wipes, soft soap, hair spray, 2- neosporin, 4 olives). After Qs and 6 RR I paid $7 OOP and got back $15 in RR! I was pretty happy with that. No Qs beeped and they did not hassle me about the wipes. I may go back tomorrow and try to do a bit better...I made my scenario on the fly and was bummed when I realized the neosporin wasn't on sale any longer but couldn't think of anything else to do right then. Thanks for a great blog!

I'd love to get the candles- where is the free coupon? Thanks so much

What is the Walgreens deal on Huggies Wipes??? I could not find anything in the flyer or on southernsavers.com about it... and you did not list what the deal you got on them was.

The Free Candle was in the SS section of the Sunday paper.

There is a new back to school coupon book at Walgreens located near the ads at the front of the store that has a $2.00 off of Huggies wipes 64 count or higher. Pair that with .50 manufacturers coupon and you have a sweet deal! Especially since they were on 2.79 at my store. I think they expire 8/29 and you only need one coupon per transaction and you can buy as many as you want as long as your store is not limiting them!

I bought at walgreens 1 softsoap, 6 Huggies wipes, 4 boxes of cheez its, 2 pkg keebler cookies, 4 boxes of poptarts for 14 dollars. Plus I will send in the rebate for the 10 dollars...so I spent a total of 4 dollars for all of that.

We did well at Walgreens.

Getting snacks for kids at colleg I found the Keebler Cheez-its and rice krispie treats on sale for 4for 10.00 then I used the coupons from the Kellogss fuel for school coupon/rebate book to get free bread w/rice krispie treats and some sprite with the cheez-its(had to pay a little) combined with other items to spend 25.00 to get the 5.00 back and also got 5.00RR from Kellogs for purchasing 10.00 worth of Kelloggs/Keebler. Hope this makes sense as I am new to this.

Here is a deal one of my readers found:
The Oral-B Advantage Artica Soft Tooth Brush (48) was on clearance for 95¢ at my store.

There is a current Catalina deal right now (7/26-8/29) – Buy 4 or more participating P&G Oral Care Items and save $5 OYNO. Choose from: Oral-B Advantage, Glide or 1-2-3 Toothbrush or Crest Whitening Expressions, 6 oz or whitening with Scope toothpaste 6.2oz

There was a $1/1 (or $.50/1 ) Oral-B coupon in the 8/2/09 PG. Using either coupon it is a money maker if they are on clearance at your store

WOW! I see so many great deals from Wags here! We have one about 30 minutes away, but I have never gone into one..yet. I so wish I could take one of you "pros" with me to show me how its done! I'm just used to the man.Q's and not the store ones or RR's or anything like that.

Great deal shopping gals!!

I tried to buy 7 wipes to get my total up over 25 and the manager limited me to 4 wish I would have walked ou, but instead ended up paying .89 each which insn't even a good deal. Tried buying the velveeta shells and cheese the manager basically said the machine wouldn't take two of the same coupon, didn't end up getting them. I think I'm done at Walgreens until they bring their rebate program back.

I did pretty well at WAGS today, I think; have to total everything up. =) A couple of good deals: the photo stamp kits that are on clearance for 7.19 will count toward the $25 for the $5 RR because they are considered software and not actual postage. You get a book of 20 stamps which is $8.80 at the current rate making this a moneymaker!!! Also, the Children's Benadryl was $6.99 at my store and you buy 2 and get a $5 RR. I used that to get my total up on another transaction and used 2 $1 coupons from recent inserts and 2 $1 coupons from the Activity Book that is available for .99 in the pharmacy. The Glade candles were on an endcap at my store and there were none on the shelves with the other candles.

Anonymous --- Are the 1L Listerine bottles 3/$9 with $3 RR? Before, I thought the 500ml were that price and the $5/3 Q must be 1L +.

I have sworn off Walgreens for a while. EVERY time I go I have a problem with using coupons. I always triple check to make sure that the coupon can be used on a certain product, but still have problems.

I recently went (after not going for months) and found a bunch of cutter bug spray on clearance for $ 3.00/ea. I had 9 $2.00/1 coupons and picked up six items to purchase. The coupons clearly state that it can be used on ALL cutter products (with the exception of flea/tick products - which I was NOT purchasing). Well for some reason when they scanned the coupon it beeped. The cashier then called the manager over. He looked over the items and the coupons and tried to scan it and of course it beeped again. He then looked at me and told me that he would not take the coupons because the system would not accept them and something was wrong with the coupons! I very calmly pointed out that what I was purchasing was valid with the coupon - but he very rudely (in front of many customers) told me that I could not use the coupons. Needless to say I left without purchasing anything.

Flash forward 20 mintues later. I went to Walmart and purchased 1 cutter spray (not as good a price) and the coupon beeped when the Walmart employee scanned it. He checked the coupon against the product, saw that it was valid and manually took it off.

Needless to say as soon as I have a free moment I am calling Walgreens corporate to discuss what happened. Unfortunately each time I go to Walgreens there is a problem - either them never having anything that is on sale or having problems using coupons. Anyway - CVS offers have been much better lately - and they have no problem with my coupons. So they can have my business.

Yesterday, I got $27 of yummies for $2 at Walgreens. Here's what I bought:
5 Pop-Tarts - $10
3 Nutri-gran bars - $10
2 Kellogg's Smart Start cereal - $7

Then I used 3 coupons:
2 x $1 off 2 Pop-Tarts
$1 off 2 Nutri-grain boxes

Paid $24 out of pocket and got $12 in Register Rewards:
$5 for buying $10 of select Kellogg's items (Pop-Tarts/Nutri-grain/etc)
$2 for buying 2 boxes of select Kellogg's cereal
$5 for spending $25+

AND I am sending in the receipt and UPCs for the $10 Fuel for School Reward.

If my math is right, that will bring my grand total after all the coupons and rebates to $2.
Trips like that make couponing a bit addictive, don't you think?

Do you need a coupon to get the $5 RR for a $25 purchase?

FYI Ladies: When I went to use my Free Candle coupon at CVS last week (and I didn't notice this until after I had left) the candle was priced at 3.29, but on the reciept, it only rang up for .33! Somehow, the cashier still managed to apply the full amount of the coupon (3.49 I believe)! I'm not sure if this was just a fluke, or if they are really marked for only .33. Check it out next time you are in CVS!

You are just too funny with that empty frappuccino bottle in the picture. Thanks, I needed a laugh. Oh, by the way, I found a 4.9 oz Glade soy candle in a clearance basket by the counters in Giant Eagle marked down to $1.99. The cashier took the free coupon since it said for a 2 oz candle up to $3.49 and the 4.9 oz was cheaper than that. What a deal!

because of your site, I've learned to use coupons & sales to save so much money, Thank You! My husband likes to say jokingly that I'm single handed-ly making Walgreens go bankrupt.

If we all...and our friends & their friends...keep saving money, so well...won't they have to change something so they can stay in business?

No glade candle coupon in the SS for me! Drats! Could it be anywhere else?

FYI ~ after much searching I found the 2oz candles at Target. I had 19coupons and cleaned out two locations worth of the candles :)

Honestly, if you've just wiped out two locations by grabbing a ridiculous amount of something that we are all looking for... I would keep it to yourself.

Amen to that ^^^^^

Sheesh ladies! Take a look in your pantry and utility closets.

Do you *really* need EVERY free tube of toothpaste or soy candle you can get???
