Man, I'd give my right arm for that KitchenAid!! Unfortunately, our budget won't allow for it....but oh well, I've gone this long without one, lol.

What a freakin AWESOME deal!!!!

Anonymous said...

I got my KitchAid a few years ago and I seriously consider it to be one of my best investments, ever!

Sure, it was expensive OOP, but I also have a mixer that should last me DECADES, not just a few years. The quality for the money just can't be beat.

I heart my KitchenAid!!!

I have the 5 QT one. I LOVE it. Wish I would have spent the extra money at the time for the 6QT. It is really worth the investment. My MIL has had hers for over 20 years and it runs beautifully. Mine takes more abuse but 6 years old and runs as great as the day I got it.

Sorry for the sales pitch but wanted to share feedback on an item I love.

Oh and Collin just leave the page open on the computer. Keep sending him near it for errands maybe he will get the hint. *giggle*

I love your blog, truly I appreciate all of your time and effort posting such great coupons and ways to "save". However, I've noticed that you are posting a lot of ways to "spend" money, on expensive items no less. Aren't we being "hip 2 save"?
I would love to see less deals on wooden toys, pinecone lamps, expensive mixers, Victoria's Secret sweatrs, and $500 worth of Estee Lauder overpriced makeup and more true coupons and ways to save!

Anonymous said...

I have two free mixers that I use all the time....They're called my arms, lol!

Seriously though, 250 dollars is soo much. It's going to take me years to save up enough to buy one. I heard they are changing the metal bowl to glass ones at some point, anyways. So the metal ones might be dated in a couple of years. Of course, if you do have a metal one, they'll want you to purchase the glass one as well..

Anonymous said...

One of the purposes of saving is to be able to afford to splurge. The choice to spend the money is up to you. Some of these items may be out your price range but they are still bargains. Being frugal and being cheap are not the same thing. This sight has pointed me to things I might have wanted but did not think I could afford. If it is not for me I just skip past it.

This is a great price on this mixer. I have one and as others have said, it well worth the investment so I think it is a Save.

There are plenty of free or near free items on here.

Anonymous said...

If you dont want the item, skip it! I know for sure shes probably SAVED you money on more than one occasion!

I got one a few years ago when Lowe's had a misprint in their ad and honored the $150 price! I love it and can't say enough about how much I use it and how wonderful it is!

I love the great DEALS and the coupons! Don't change a thing!!

I completely disagree!!!! Although a Kitchenaid mixer isn't in my budget right now, some day it WILL be and I love knowing that I can get a great deal on it. Everyone has different budgets and I love all the deals you post. Thank you so much for everything you do!!

Anonymous said...

A deal is different to each individual. What you think is expensive may be cheap to someone else. There are different levels of frugality. Pick and choose the ones that work with your budget. Keep up the great work Collin!

what an ugly post above - this is her blog and she can post whatever she wants on it. Some of us enjoy NICE things at a reduced price. You may think $500 dollars worth of Estee Lauder makeup for $70 bucks is ridiculous but for people who buy it anyway, they enjoy the opportunity to purchase it at a reduced price.

Feel free to start your own blog with only free deals or do a google search and find another blog that will only give you posts about things you can get for free.

Kim said...

Definitely don't change a thing! I love seeing how to get deals on the nicer things that I otherwise would have never been able to consider!!

Rebecca said...

I actually check your blog SEVERAL times a day just to see what online deals you have found. I've been able to get several fun Christmas presents because of your blog...and I didnt have to get off the couch! LOVE it!

So PLEASE keep posting EVERY SINGLE GOOD ONLINE DEAL YOU FIND!!!

Anonymous said...

PLEASE don't change anything! I love my VS sweater and lip gloss, I love Amazon deals, I love it all! I am new to saving but not new to spending. You are helping me find a balance. THANKS!!!!

PS - I love my KitchenAid - I don't have this size and I won't buy a bigger one because mine works perfectly, though I am tempted. I have had it about 8 years and I anticipate I will have it for a lifetime. By the way, if you see the glass bowls on sale separately, please let us know! I look forward to purchasing a glass one for my mixer. Thanks again for everything!!!

Is it just me or have the negative comments come more and more frequent lately? Please remember your holiday spirit :)

I got one last year for my sister and there was a $50.00 rebate from Kitchen Aid attached to it too. With free shipping, you cant beat that!

Ya know this is Collins Blog and she should be able to post whatever she wants. She does it at NO charge to us! We should be thankful for the things that she has posted and ALL the money that we have saved!! To Anonymous Mon Nov 23, 03:23:00 PM 2009 what an ungrateful comment!
Collin.. .THANK YOU!!!!! When I think of the things I am grateful for this thanksgiving you are at the top of my list. Not only have you taught me how to save money, i have a hobby that I LOVE and enjoy! Keep up the great work. And it’s Christmas time and I have to buy presents so keep posting the deals on wooden toys, pinecone lamps, expensive mixers, Victoria's Secret sweaters, and $500 worth of Estee Lauder
WE LOVE YOU!

Anonymous said...

It may be at no charge to her from us, but by her posting these online deals, when we do purchase them, she does get a percentage of the sale. The larger the purchase, the more she makes. I no doubt believe she wants to help us save, but this is also her job/income. I just want to clarify that. Not saying one way or the other.

G said...

Great.. so she gets paid when we click a link GOOD! I would feel horrible if she did ALL this work and didn't make any money off of it! I am glad that she gets paid and that it's her income. Can you even imagine how much time and effort she puts into this! She is super duper amazing!

Anonymous said...

Yes, Don't change a thing! Would love one, but a working stove must be bought first. I agree not all deals are for everyone, but it is not her job to cater to one person. She tries very hard to find deals, even if they cost more than some have to spend. It is not her fault some can't afford a deal or ever use it. She just gives the information as she finds it and it is our chose to take it or leave it. Thanks so much! I save at least a $100 a month thanks to you, and on our income that is the diffrence between eating and not some months.

Anonymous said...

Ditto, I agree with G. We love your blog and all the deals you post. Keep doing it the way you want, we all like to check your blog often to see what deals you have found for us, not every deal will work for everyone, but when you are able to find something that works its fun and exciting. WE APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU DO AND GIVE OUR THANKS TO YOU!

Wait - I"m sorry the white one is $299, but they have different prices for the different colors.

Mandy said...

I've been looking for a Kitchenaid mixer for a long time!! I refused to pay what they normally cost. It's only when they're a real bargain do most of us 'savers' actually splurge for ourselves. I know, being a mom means you tend to put yourself last a lot of the time. This is one deal I can buy for myself and not feel guilty about!

Anonymous said...

Im so gald you are posting deals that are "more expensive" than your usuals, its Christmas we can't give out samples as gifts ALL the time.LOL. I have learned to buy "high value" stuff for the same price as a regular store would be. Its great to have expensive stuff at cheap if I had lots of girls to buy for this xmas I would have definitely did the Estee Lauder deal thats almost too good to be true!! Keep up the good word, I wish we would see les negative comments but hey even though they are negatvie they still look at this blog... so Collin wins LOL

Anonymous said...

Ummm...how the heck do you know she's making money? Maybe she is, maybe she isn't. Point is, YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. And you know what else? I like hearing about these deals. I am not in the market for a Kitchenaid (got mine 6-8 years ago in a similar deal from amazon), but I have purchased the BodyShop gift bags and the Nascar toy. It's not like she isn't posting the coupons and free scenarios as well. Point being, you're not missing out on anything. It's a heck of a lot easier to just skip a post, than to take the time to write a snarky comment.

I have the 6qt mixer and L O V E LOVE it. My boss bought mine for me for $499, so this is a deal!

Andrea said...

A few comments: 1) LOVE my KitchenAid mixer, though I have the smaller size that I bought from Target and gave to my husband as a Christmas gift. It was $125 and I have gotten tons of use out of it. 2) Collin I love your blog, I check it several times a day for deals. I never would have considered buying a turtleneck from VS before, but then it dawned on me how much cheaper it was to do that deal and use the free lip gloss as gifts for my sitters. Same with the Origins deal and the Estee Lauder deals. I will be able to make great gifts out of these items and pay a fraction of what I would have spent. If I see a deal that doesn't appeal to me, I move on to the next one. Thanks for everything you do!

Charmel said...

Collin, please keep posting ALL the deals. I have only been able to take advantage of a few of them but I would rather skim past those I can't than to not have your blog to read every day. I have only been doing this a few months but I have cut our grocery budget in half. And because of that I did splurge on the Estee Lauder makeup kit as a gift to my mom. Last month I offered to do her makeup for my brother's wedding and was so sad to see her makeup. She is of the generation who believes she should never leave her house without makeup, hair done, and earrings in :) We never had much growing up but I never realized just how much she has sacrificed so we could have more. Her makeup was all VERY cheap walmart stuff and most of it she was scraping out since so little was left. Knowing how she feels about having to wear makeup, I had started picking up the drugstore makeup deals the last few weeks, but i saw the estee lauder deal I HAD to get it for her. I know it will be her first ever name brand makeup. Thanks Collin. You are awesome!!!!

I love your blog and I love the deals you post. You have saved me literally like $15,000 this year. However, I bought more things because I was able to get them so cheap, but who cares?! I know my budget and I what I can and can not buy.
I am buying this mixer because I need one and it's a lot cheaper than normal price!! Thank you so much. Keep up the great work!! Thank you, thank you!

PS... I need a bread machine too! Anybody have any ideas on a good one? I don't even know where to start! Thank you in advance :)

Wendy in Ohio said...

I've had my Kitchen Aid Mixer for 22 years now, and use it alot! My hubby had to replace the bushings in it once, but other than that, it works as well as new!
I also have the attachments for shredding cabbage every year when we make tons of kraut, for sending berries through the sieve to make jelly, for pushing hot cooked apples through the sieve for applesauce, the dough hook for kneading bread, etc....
I feel like I abuse the thing and it just keeps on going! :-)
They are well worth the investment. The style does not change much over time, mine does is an almond color and does not look like a 22 year old model!
If I needed one and could afford it, I would jump at the opportunity to buy this. It's such a good deal! This color will not go out of style either!
Thanks Collin!!

Andrea A. said...

Charmel that was one of the most touching comments I have read on here so far. I love that you could do that for your mom. I wanted to do the Lancome one for my mom but it was just not in the budget. But I have sent her some of the cheaper deals.

There have been several things listed on here that would not normally be in my budget. The Seventh Generation deal was great! I love that stuff but it's expensive. Thanks Collin for finding things for everybody's budget.

I have had my kitchen aid for over 20 years also. I think I paid $200-$300 20 years ago. This product is well worth thhe price. Thanks Collin. I appreciate everything u do 4 us.

@ Charmel-What a lovely story, that brightened up my day. I hope she loves that gift! and thank you Collin, for ALL the deals you post, day in, day out. I'm sure that it takes a lot of effort, and we appreciate it!

Jenny said...

I have to chime in, too, Collin, and say ignore the ugly poster. Of all the posts to be ugly on, a $299 mixer that will last us for 30 years is NOT the post to get all wacky on, am I right girls!!??

I skip a lot of your posts, too, but... don't we all? For somebody, the free sample is the bomb... for me, it's too much trouble to do all that for one single granola bar, lol! But for something that I've been looking for, or something we're going to SPLURGE on (It's Christmastime!!!), some of these more "expensive" deals are just the ticket!

For what it's worth, Kohl's has a deal on Black Friday for this exact model, and if you have a Kohl's card, and have a 15% off Q from them, it would end up about $290. HTH someone with a Kohl's nearby!

Anonymous said...

Jenny,

Plus you get Kohls cash.

Hip...keep doing what you are doing and I really really HOPE that you are getting rich over this blog. You certainly deserve it!

to the comment about the bread machine - my husband found me one at the goodwill for $6! He said there were a lot to choose from too!

Anonymous said...

I just checked amazon and the mixer is $354.00

Collin, don't listen to the negativity! We love you, free samples, coupons, Leap Frog, Mr Potato head, Estee Lauder makeup & expensive Kitchen Aid mixers! Don't stop :o)

I love the free stuff!!!! But, I also like knowing the deals. I have bought things i didnt need but i couldnt resist the deal. Please keep posting AMAZING deals.

BTW i have a cheaper kitchen aid mixer and i love it!!!!!

I have to say this: mere words could not explain how much I have appreciated this blog...ALL OF IT! Every SINGLE deal. Even the ones i don't use...I had ACL knee surgery earlier this year, and some other major health problems this year and haven't been able to work...so your site has helped us TREMENDOUSLY with saving money, and still being able to get the foods we love, and the deals we want. DON"T CHANGE! you can't please everyone...so don't even sweat the small stuff. Love you and Love your site!

also costco has a kitchen aid professional hd series 475 watt 5 quart as a coupon item friday - sunday for $229.99

I have a Kitchen Aid Mixer I bought about 8 years ago. I only use it once or twice a year. My husband and kids don't eat that many sweets and I COULD eat it all. But, I work really hard to keep the weight off so it just sits on the counter. So for me it was a total waste of money.

I have a Oster bread machine I got at Kohls about 8 years ago. I do use it about once a week. My kids and I love bread and homemade pizza. My Mom bought the same model at a garage sale for $20. The allotment lady said her husband got it for Christmas and she did not want it....

Jenny said...

Anon 6:40 - I FORGOT about the Kohl's cash! WOOHOOOOOOO!!! For sure I'm doing Kohl's now! Thanks!

He's not done with me yet said...

The Kohl's deal is what I'm holding out for. The ad states it is $399, but that all mixers are 15% off. I have my 15% coupon so that should bring it down to ~$290. Get all that Kohl's cash as well as the $50 rebate and it is a GREAT deal!! So excited!!

MomDG said...

I could not keep my mouth shut on this one! I have a KitchenAid mixer my hubby bought about 5 years ago for Christmas, and I use it all of the time. It will never wear out. You get what you pay for Anon 3:23. I only spend about $25 a week feeding a family of 4, so I "splurge" on the other deals. I am one of the "morons" who bought 4 VS sweaters AND I LOVE THEM!!! Also did the Estee Lauder makeup deal -- which BTW is an amazing deal! Not everyone has the same budget or ideas, but I think Anon 3:23 you need to crawl back under the rock you came out from underneath. I am not as kind as others in a situation like this, what an ungrateful hag! BTW when you post something like that, why not put your name on it!!??

Anonymous said...

For those of you complaining, this is Collin's blog and she can post whatever she wants. I personally think $299 is an amazing price for this mixer. I am hoping for one this year for Christmas as well.

I personally enjoy all of the deals posted. I am not poor, but I still like to save money. I love to get groceries for free or next to nothing, but will drop $300 for a handbag. I go to the store drinking my $4 latte while getting a cart filled with groceries for the same price.

We are all different. I save money whenever possible, so I have more money to buy the things I want. And this mixer is something I want!

MomDG said...

Amen Anon 10:52 -- could not live without my handbags! It is kinda funny I gripe if I have to pay more than $1 for a box of cereal but will drop $300 on a Coach bag in a heartbeat! LOL!

You can please some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, and some of the people none of the time! This is not an income based blog, it is a site where all of us regardless of our financial health can enjoy the challenge of getting a good price on items we routinely purchase or an irresistablel price on something we wouldn't ordinarily buy. One of my philosophies is that you can pay the same price for a good meal as a bad meal, so I always like a recommendation for a good restuarant, rather than just picking randomly. I see this blog as the same type of deal, I can pay full price, or a reduced price, or maybe pay nothing in some cases. I appreciate Colin and her entreprenerial spirit and all of you who share your comments, even the negative comments generate positive comments and a camaraderie. As a side note, I loved the suggestion of the Land of Nod wood toy cookie sheet and cookies. Have since figured out that it is a Melissa & Doug and yes it can be bought on Amazon for $14.99.

Mandy said...

Rebecca-
Just make sure you're okay with only getting one attachment. The 6-qt. on Amazon comes with the dough hook, the flat beater, and the wire whip. Purchasing these attachments separately run $20-$30 each.

Kim said...

Well, I did buy this mixer and plan on wrapping it up and putting it under the tree for myself. I told hubby he just needs to fill my stocking. I have been looking at these for years and could not miss the "big" one for $249 with the rebate. My current mixer is my arms, so I am looking forward to making bread dough (no bread maker here). Some recipes I just pass over as too labor intensive. I'm excited to open this on Christmas Day!! Anybody have a good recipe I should start out with?

Mary Beth said...

Charmel -- what a beautiful idea! Your mom is going to love the makeup! I remember when my sister & I would save to get special perfume or other things that our mom wouldn't spend money on for herself, but loved when we treated her. I wish that this blog had been around then -- we could have done so much more. You made my day!

And I'm with the other 98% of posters -- we're not children who must have each thing we see advertised. Even if I'm not in the market for something, I appreciate knowing about a deal in case someone I know is looking to buy. And it's really giving me a benchmark in my head on prices; when I see ads, I'm much more aware of what is truly a good deal, versus what a store wants me to think is a good deal.

Collin, keep bringing all the deals! Thank you!

Anonymous said...

Thanks so much for letting me know! I bought one and can't wait to use it! Merry Christmas to me!

Erin said...

To each his own--I got a bread maker one year, and I returned it. I don't care for the taste or texture of bread machine bread, and I find working dough by hand to be therapeutic, so when I make bread, I make it by hand. (Or in my Kitchen Aid!) I don't use my Kitchen Aid frequently--I probably make bread or pizza dough more frequently than I use the Kitchen Aid--but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Well, except maybe for this kick-ass model! When you need a Kitchen Aid, you are grateful for it! This is a great deal on a great piece of equipment.

Unknown said...

Can you help me come up with an "unfortunate accident" for my perfectly-good-but-not-this-model-that-I-wanted-in-the-first-place Kitchen Aide? I need a way to justify replacing it! Thanks so much for all of your posts. I'm writing this as I'm wearing my new VS sweater and FREE VS lipgloss, BTW!

MomDG said...

Maybe it could fall into a bathtub full of Coffe-Mate LOL!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! I just (I mean my hubby) ordered mine for Christmas. I've been telling him that is what I want and had done tons of research on it to pick out the very one I wanted and woo hoo, I see this posted today. Now Meringue isn't the color of choice but honestly who cares for the price. I'm so excited (if you couldn't tell).

Anonymous said...

Ok sorry, one more comment. How do I find the rebate. You say on the purchase page but I can't find it anywhere. (I'm sure I'm just overlooking it). I want my $50 rebate though lol)

Unknown said...

i was just looking through my old amazon orders, and in dec 2007 i bought a brand new white 4.5 qt one for $100, and then in 2008 i bought a brand new black 5 quart artisan one for $149...these both were amazon gold deals for the day and came out to be excellent deals! i would say wait it out a bit if u can and try to keep ur eyes peeled for the gold deals!

Anonymous said...

Complaining about deals on pricey items is ridiculous and just stems from jealousy and resentment. Not everybody can afford everything. We don't all need every deal listed. I don't have a baby, so maybe I should start complaining everytime Collin posts a deal on diapers or wipes! Or maybe I should be irritated because I'm lactose intolerant and cheese coupons were posted today! Seriously, people! Grow up!

Anonymous said...

A question for anyone who may have already ordered and received this mixer. Does it have the metal gears? Or is it the older style with the plastic gears. I've been reading up on these and for a while they were made with plastic gears. Many complaints because they were breaking very easily. Then Kitchenaid started using the metal gearbox again. I've seen them in the store and the box says something about metal gearbox. Nothing is mentioned about that in the ad, unless I missed it. I'd like to order one of these for myself but am alittle leary about it being some older stock. I also noticed some in the store that are a 610 model.

So, Collin - you rock.
I have LOVED your blog for quite some time and increased your readership quite a bit, including my dad (and many friends).

This deal.... OMG. I am getting one. My husband is giving me one for Christmas after your awesome blog post about this. I CANNOT wait! Please, please, please, disregard the grump who didn't like pricier deals. I know it's hard if someone doesn't have money to look at things they cannot afford, but they can always skip those posts.

I'm constantly amazed by your dedication and excellent work on your blog. I looked at many when I started my coupon adventures, and yours was so clearly laid out and great format, I rarely visit others now! I check yours so often.

Anyway, I"m back to dreaming about what I'll be using my awesome new mixer for. Thanks a million for everything! - Teresa
