When I text mine, it asked for my MVP card number, then sent me another text confirming the address they had on file for me.

Hey Hip. I'm sure most people know but the lightning deal of the day on Amazon is 5 seasons of that show LOST. It's 70% off and only $72 for all 5 seasons. One season usually runs $45. This is a popular show and I was so happy about this deal :)Would be easy to watch them all, share them w/ friends and re-sell at that cost on E-bay or Craig's List.

I just tried all three and got messages back that said, "the short code that you are attempting to use has expired and is no longer a valid short code"

Worked for me yea!

Texting charges kind of take the fun out of free. I hope this fad fades quickly and we can get back to just emailing. Thanks, Colin, for keeping us informed!

@anon at 4:28 - The same thing happened to me! I wonder if it's the carrier???

How do they know your address? Iam new to all this.

wow, great coups! I'm excited!

After you text the word you get a text back from them asking you if you are an MVP member. I am so I answered yes. They have my address on file, so I confirmed it in another text.
I would ASSUME (since you don't have to be an mvp) that if you answer no that they will ask for your address. Anyone answer no that can answer that question?

They said that my book will be sent, but I didn't give them my address... interesting...

Anonymous said...

I didnt text for the book, so I don't know about that one. It wasn't on the Foodlion ad that I got in the mail.

I am not a MVP member(no Food lion here)so they asked for my home # to get my address or my zip if i only had a cell phone

Awesome

So what if it's almost 2010 some of us can't afford to pay the extra for free texts.

I don't know if I've ever actually gotten anything I've texted for...

I love text freebies! I have free texting with my plan, its only an extra $5 with Verizon! If you've entered one with Betty Crocker I believe, from before, then they already have your address on file. Otherwise usually they will prompt you to text them back your address, if they dont have you on file. I did this months ago, so everytime I enter now, they already have my info. This one, confirmed my info, and I did not have to have a MVP card, I texted NO to that question, but I still got my coupons! Yeah! THANKS!

I dont have a cell :-(

Yay! Thanks for the post!!! You're awesome Collin!!!

I didn't read through all of the comments, so I'm not sure if this has already been posted... But you can go to https://www.shoptext.com/main/index.action
and register. That way they have your mailing address, etc. Makes it a lot easier when texting them for the freebies! :)

I am not up on Texting, but where exactly do you text these numbers to?

Anonymous said...

I highly disagree with the people who are complaining about texting charges. I think they're great. Some of us have unlimited texting included in our phone plans so complaining that you don't have it doesn't make you special, it makes you a whiner. Some people can't afford to get 20 newspapers a week or buy coupons on eBay and some of us choose not to be on Facebook so we can't take advantage of all those deals, but do you hear us complaining? No. If it's not worthwhile to you to get the offers, just move on!

On another note, thanks for this Hip! After the initial text they asked for my MVP number, which I entered. Then they showed my (old) address and asked if it was correct, I said no, then they asked for my new address. After I typed it in, it asked to confirm, then I got another asking if I wanted to opt in their mobile text program. Then a confirmation saying my coupons will be in the mail. All in all, an exchange of about 10 text messages, but since I have unlimited texting it was fine. Awesome deal, thanks again.

i still have yet to recieve one of these text freebies, been doing them for a while now...

Edwards Family,
When you send a text message, you have a "to" field where you enter the phone number, or the contact name if you have it saved in your phone. That's where you put 467467. In the message field you put in the code word such as "NESTLE"

I did the COFFEE one first and when I entered NESTLE I got a reply that they would be sending me all three coupons from Food Lion - just a head's up for anyone concerned with messaging charges.

THANKS THANKS THANKS COLIN! Your site always has the most awesome deals that I would NEVER get in on otherwise!

To those who got an error message:

The first code I sent, I entered in all lowercase (default on my phone) - then got an error message. The second code I did in all CAPS and it worked fine :)

I'm not sure I've ever gotten anything I've texted for either! All of these said that the short code has expired! :( Didn't work for me.

I'm with the others who've been texting these for awhile but haven't received any of them. The sign-up and texting is certainly easy to do, so I don't have any complaints, but I am curious as to whether anything will actually come in the mail :) Hope so!

I am getting a message that says "Premium Messageing to this mobile number has been blocked. Only the account owner may request a change to this setting with his/her wireless service provider." Does this mean the deal can no longer be gotten?

Coupons arrived today - unfortunately they are store coupons and we don't have a food lion anywhere in our state. If anyone wants these feel free to email me.
