Thanks so much for doing all that you do!! Question - the Revlon nail polish - is it a moneymaker? If the ECB is $3.99, then yes, but if it's $3 - no money made, right? But still free?

Anonymous said...

With the fruitopia deal - you can only use one reinventing beauty coupon, the second will beep. they are limit one per customer.

Alyssa said...

Does the Boost ECB deal include the Boost Essentials Kids drinks? If so, they have $5 coupons inside each package that would make this an awesome deal!

Anonymous said...

Quick question...with the free Neosporin Lip Care, will it add the full $5.49 toward a $/$$ coupon or only $2.99 (after the clip-free coupon)? I'm trying to work up a $3/$15 and just need to know which amount to add in for this item. TIA!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the list. But when you say "Add $5 more in FREE CVS items and use the $5 off $25 coupon. Final cost will be just $0.50 total!" I don't think that is quit accurate as you'll have to still pay for the item that you added that bumped it to the $25 mark...as you removed the $5 from the previous list.??? So yes, it will be that amount for the list now, but you'll still have to pay the extra $5. make sense?

I am so overwhelmed by CVS! :( I read through your tutorial, and that helped some.

Can somebody recommend a good way to start? Should I just look for items that are basically free and start piling up ECB's that way and then roll them the next week and slowly build up? I haven't been at this long so I don't have many coupons built up.

Thanks for the advice! :)

I purchased the neosporin lip therapy yesterday...You need to assume it's $5.39-$2.50, therefore, you will need quite a bit more items to make it to the $25 mark to use the $5/$25 coupon...Then you use the man q. Hope this makes sense. Also, you need to buy your viology and/or fruitology today while they are $1.99.

MandM said...

Also, some other filler items to remember...you can use your $1 J&J baby coupon for buddy soaps (they are $1.19 at my CVS), schick disposables @ $1.29 (use $1 q)...and another secret - - I got a raincheck for the Airwick compact or mini airmatic @ $4.99..I use the $6 or $4 coupons..and these get me over the $25 mark easily. Rainchecks are golden!

Fruitopia Shampoo or Conditioner buy 1 at $3.49, get 1 FREE
Use 2 $2/1 coupons from the new CVS Reinventing Beauty Magazine

The second coupon will beep and say it has already been used so the cashier will have to push it through.

I have a quick question, not related to the topic, so nobody get mad! Haha, it's not about gum...

Do most of you guys automatically throw out your expired coupons, or do you try to use them if they are close to the date they expired? I am starting to have alot because I don't clip, I just date my flyers. I'm wondering if I should just start clipping... Ahh, so many big decisions for me to make.. Thanks in advance for your wisdom! Naomi

Tawanda! said...

Hi Naomi,

I try to clip only what I will purchase, unless it's a high dollar coupon or for am item that is usally free when on sale and combined with a coupon (such as razors) that I can donate. I send expired coupons to a base that I've "adopted". You can get more information on where to send expired coupons by entering the term "expired coupons" into Collin's google search bar. HTH

Im in MA and the fruitopia and violage haircare items are not on sale this week.. So the bogo deal next week will still be better for us, even if we can only use 1 coupon.

also, when she says "add $5 in free merchandise to use the $5/25".. she means add things that end up being free.. Like neosporin (@ 2.99 bc of the clip free).. Since you use the $5/25 first, the cost of the neosporin goes to the total, but ends up being no OOP bc of coupons.. make sense?

scenario- whatever ECB you want that is spend $20, get X ecb back..
do that deal, and buy 2 neosporin lip things.

your total before q's will be $20 +2.99 + 2.99 = $26 dollars. Hand over $5 off 25 first. Total is now $21. Give 2 $3/1 neosporin q.
total is now $15. give any q's that apply to the ECB deal. pay whatever the total is. get back X amount of ECB.

this is a way to "bump" your total to $25 to use the extra q, but really cost you NO more outta pocket than just doing the ECB deal!

Hope that helps!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Tawanda! That does help, I feel bad throwing out coupons, but I also get frustrated by them! Love/Hate relationship. I'll look for a place to send them! Naomi

MandM said...

To clarify...When I purchased the neosporin lip therapy yesterday, the register took the $2.50 off immediately before I could use my $5 off $25 coupon..then man q's, etc...so I had to add "free" items to get over my total. These new clip free coupons are immediate from what I see here in NC.

trash2cash4u said...

Anon. # 4: Are you referring to the J&J Tylenol scenario? If so, you will have to take into account that you have purchased extra items when dividing out to find a "per item" price.

However, you will not be spending more money OOP ( except for tax or anything over the extra $4.50)because you are getting $5 more in products but taking the $5 right back off by using the $5/$25 coupon. HTH!

Just a word of caution- My CVS's cash registers are not giving overage anymore :(

I have never done CVS and didn't find the answer to this question in the tutorial:

Are ECB's like Wags RR's in that you can only have MQs + ECB equal to the number of items you purchase? OR Can you have MQs for all your itmes PLUS ECBs for each of your items?

Thanks!

Anonymous said...

im stupid haha but what are the extra care bucks? do they come off when you swipe your cvs card? i hardly shop there but if i can snag some freebies i might just stop in :) thank you!

Can anyone get the Neosporin Lip Health to print?

Andrea said...

Ginger thanks for the link. I scored some good deal.

As far as I could tell the kids boost is not included in sale. Bummer!

The Purex 3-1 is 8.99 at our CVS. So 6.99 for 2. Trying it out right now.

Last Anon before my post (lol)
Extra bucks are like Walgreens register rewards. If you purchase an item for $10 and it is advertised as having a $5 Extra Buck reward, you will pay the $10 and a $5 coupon will print out on your receipt that can be used toward pretty much anything. If you want to keep down your out of pocket expense, you can use that $5 and pay for some of your other items in a sep. transaction.

joligirl123,
You can use as many Extra Bucks as you like in any given transaction. Hand over CVS coupons first, then manufacturer's coupons and use your Extra bucks as payment. Keep in mind that if your Extra Bucks exceed your pre-tax amount, you will not be given change back.
The EBs are good for a month wheras RRs are only good for 2 wks. There are also no restrictions as far as if you use Ebs from a certain company and purchase something from the same company that generates EBs...it will still print out your EBs.

I have been shopping at Walgreens longer than any other store and have gotten more and more frustrated trying to jump through their hoops to do my shopping. I have limited my WAGS shopping to the really great deals and try to alternate a few transactions so I don't get stuck with the RRs.

Megan, my CVS shopping is always the easiest. I love it and I do hope that WAGS goes to a similar system as I have heard rumored. There are so fewer restrictions at CVS; it's great. Also, be sure to scan your extra care card at a price scanner and you will get more CVS coupons that can be combined with MQs!!!

I had a super easy, wonderful experience at CVS this morning! yeah!

The fruitopia/violage.. I bought one of each, and used a $2 q on each, and it rang up BOGO.. So I only paid $3.49 for both, - $4 in cvs RIB q's, and i got a $50 overage! whoop whoop! The register didnt beep at all. So now Im going back and buying the matching stuff so that I actually have 2 fruitopia and 2 violiage .

also if you have the $2 off 2 gold emblem nut products.. Look in the travel section (my store has 2 areas they put travel stuff, one was on the aisle with wrapping paper).. and look in the candys by check out.. they have many $.99 packs. I got 2 for free, and I have like, 4 of those q's. Great lil snack to throw in a bag!

Did anyone do the Halloween candy deal? At my CVS only certain candies are marked as part of the spent $20, get $5 ECB. Several of the items listed in the deal scenario were not included in the Halloween candy discount, such as Lindt. It seemed very random about which items were included and which weren't. I asked the clerk and she said they had to have the special 'spend $20, get $5 ECB' tag. Seems to me the ad is quite misleading.

Keep your eyes out for the Children's Tylenol with the bonus pack (extra 2oz). They were on an endcap at my store, and were part of the Tylenol deal. I scored 4:
4x6= 24 + Colgate Advance toothpaste
Used the $5 off $25 and then
two $3/2. $1 off toothpaste Q
Used 3.50 in ECBs, OOP=12.xx
Got back $10 ECB & $2 ECB
Awesome deal!!

Warning about the Pantene/Olay Rebate...your Pantene purchase needs to be 12.6 oz or larger. I didn't make note of that on my shopping list, and ended up buying one that was 8.5 oz...I really want to keep it though (and I already used it!), so I guess I'll buy another Pantene somewhere else before 10/25 :(

I was able to score 54 razors today. I had to go to 5 different CVS'. In total today I got $900 worth of stuff for $37. Between CVS and Wags. I hate Wags! It's so frustrating!!

Gina S. said...

I left plenty. We have 15 stores within a 20 miles of my house. I only went to 5. and there was a bunch left over... I don't clean places out.
Anyway, I 6 women's and 6 men's razors to my stockpile for me and husband. Then I added 3 & 3 to my 5 siblings presents for xmas.. total of 42 razor used. then I added one razor to each 12 gift baskets that I give to the women's shelter on a monthly basis. Total of 54 razors. I also put in nail polish (12 nail polishes)in this week and shampoo & conditioner (1 of each so total of 24) from Wags. We'll see what else I can come across until the end of October when I give them the baskets. Total of 54 razors. I would have purchased more but couldn't find anymore coupons online.
So don't talk to me like I am a hoarder or that I'm not considerate of other people. I paid my money and I am helping people. BTW, ask someone if they have more razors in the back... usually do or they will give you a raincheck.

The cashier at my CVS wouldn't take the Revlon coupon for the nail polish. Did anyone else have this problem?

AbbyNormal said...

Dear Anons
The Revlon coupon appears to be for ColorStay products only

The Crystal Light coupon does not specify a size. Use 2 $2/2 on 4 single serve products. No violation.

You can't use multiple prints of the Flu shot quiz coupon. It has unique barcodes - need to take the quiz on a different computer for another coupon

Hope this helps!

Did anyone find any Benefiber products at $4.99? My CVC in New Orleans had the cheapest item at $6.99 and the chewables prices at $12.49.

"I have been shopping at Walgreens longer than any other store and have gotten more and more frustrated trying to jump through their hoops to do my shopping."

Hey, but a lot of sites love to advertise what we're doing, which ends up killing the deals. I called it, "The Rachel Ray/Morning Show/Youtube effect."

I've been saying that this unnecessary publicity has been killing the deals. But no one wants to hear me; everyone wants to be on Rachel Ray and on Youtube, or getting a temporary bump on Google's Ad Sense. That shall die down, too. All it does is turning store managers into Soup Nazi types. Just look at how WAGs has turned into a nightmare to shop.

The result? Deals at CVS in the last few weeks: NOTHING. This week, a Revlon that no one can't get, plus a bunch of worthless stuff that you still have to pay what really should be priced at.

All the stores are doing now is borrowing your money by giving you ECBs and RR in return, to improve their balance sheets for Wall Street. No good deals either. They're tricking you into thinking that a small toothpaste is really worth $0.99, after coupons and before sales tax. Do you really think so? Oh and please, don't tell me that oop of $20 is a deal, because lending cash has a cost to you, especially when financial companies are charging 18% to lend the same amount. Are you getting 18% return on that nail polish that should really be priced at $0.50 regular price, and that will be stored in the closet for at least 6 months?

Contrary to what managers say, they aren't doing any favors to us, as we are lending them cash and moving slow inventory, so their company stock can look good in the rigged stock market. Gee, thanks for the 1,000th offer of overpriced Benedryl, and me lending $2.99 cash for a toothpaste that should really cost me $0.40 max, regular price.

You see, when I say that all this publicity is killing couponing, I don't mean that coupons will disappear, as some might rationalize. I mean that the GOOD DEALS will be harder and harder to come by, as anyone who has been couponing for more than 5 years can tell you. When was the last time you're able to get 60 boxes of Dove soap for nothing at WAGs? When was the last time that you opened the circulars to see zillion BOGOs with related coupons that REALLY worked for a "free" deal? Where are the BOGOs for hair colors, that always would be accompanied by good value coupons? Please, only the old couponers tell me.

Case in point, my Target doesn't take IP anymore, like they always have done before. My WAGs doesn't allow for more than one RR per transaction and it doesn't allow for overage, as they used to until all this useless publicity in morning shows, radio, and on Youtube. And little by little the deals are being killed.

Sure, you'll find coupons on Sunday's newspaper, but there won't be good deals, just a little discount that brings the price down to what should be at first place, while you lend your cash to the stores for a piece of paper, called RR or ECB, in return.

Do you know how hard it's for businesses to borrow cash at 0% rate these days? Yes, it's 0% rate because you lend them cash and get a piece of paper in return. You're actually financing stuck merchandise that would be sold at auction for peanuts anyway. It's not a good option for stores and mfr to selling slow moving merchandise at auction, which incurs more expenses in transport and processing. They rather borrow cash from you at 0%.

Borrowing from financial companies would cost retailers and mfr alike around 10% or more. Wait until CITI goes out of businesses for that to increase even more, but that's another story. When you give them cash for a piece of paper, it's a huge return for them. See, nobody is lending cheap money out there nowadays; they need your cash. And managers think that they're doing favors to us.

We're killing the goose.
